N/A Portal circultion in patients with various liver diseases was evaluated by Tc-99m pertechnetate per-rectal scintigraphy. 10mCi of pertechnetate was instilled into the upper rectum, and serial scintigrams were taken. Time-activity curves for the liver and heart were recorded sequentially. Through analysis of these curves, the per-rectal portal shunt indices were calculated for 15 norrnal controls, 12 with acute hepatitis (AH), 28 with chronic hepatitis, 51 with liver cirrhosis, 1 with falminant hepatic failure (FHF ). 5 with hepatic congestion (I-IC) due to congestive heart failure (CHF). The results obtained were as follows: 1) 15 normal controls and the patients with acute and chronic hepatitis all had 'Pattern II' scintigrams, and the patients with liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatic congestion had 'Pattern II' scintigrams. One patient with FHF showed 'Pattern II' scintigram. 2) The shunt index (SI) in the normal controls was l.32±1.30%, in AH 10.9±5.7%, in CPH 5.4±2.3%, in CAH 11.8±4.2%, in LC 72.4±21.6%, in HC 39.9±27.2%, and in one FHF 75.4%. 3) Patients with various liver diseases had the significantly higher SI than the normal controls (p < 0.001). Also, the SI in pts. with liver cirrhosis was significantly higher than that of all the other groups (p < 0.001). 4) The mean SI was significantly higher for chronic liver diseases, that were more severe, increasing in the order of CPH, CAH and liver cirrhosis (p<0.001). Also, pts. With AH and CAH showed the significantly higher SI than pts. With CPH (p<0.001), and there was no significant difference in the SI between pts. With AH and CAH (p>0.05). 5) The mean SI was significantly higher in the cirrhotic pts. With varices, encephalopathy, splenomegaly or ascites than in such patient without them (p<0.005). 6) The mean SI in the cirrhotic pts, was calculated according to the modified Child's classification, of which results were that the SI was increased significantly in the order of Grade A, B and C (p< 0.001). 7) In one patient with LC, SI was much decreased from 39.5% before surgery to 7.1% after surgery. The above results suggest that per-rectal portal scintigraphy can be used to evaluate the portal circulation non-invasively and diagnose the portal hypertension in various liver diseases. Also, it can be used to express the degree of any portal hypertension not only by images but also quantitatively, using shunt index, and it is considered useful for the observation of the course of liver diseases and eva]uation of effectiveness of therapy.
Hormone Analysis during Artificial Estrus Induction in Korean Black Goats

본 연구의 목적은 한국 재래흑염소 번식생리의 이해를 돕고자 서로 다른 발정동기화법을 적용하였을 때 혈액내 프로게스테론과 에스트로겐의 농도변화를 알아본 것이다. 발정동기화법은 소의 방법을 기본으로 하여 품종의 크기에 따라 호르몬의 용량을 조절하는 것을 가장 많이 사용되고 있으나, 흑염소에 적용하였을 때 발정동기화 후 인공수정 적기의 판단이 정확하지 않아 효율이 매우 낮게 조사된다. 연구에 조사된 발정동기화 방법으로는 소에서 많이 이용되어왔던 CIDR + PGF2ɑ, PGF2ɑ + GnRH + PGF2ɑ, 그리고 CIDR + PGF2ɑ + PMSG 세가지를 적용하였다. 혈액내 프로게스테론과 에스트로겐은 발정동기화 각 처치 후와 최종 처치 후 수일간의 변화를 조사하였다. 혈액내 프로게스테론과 에스트로겐 농도를 조사한 결과, 세가지 발정동기화 방법 마지막 처치 전까지는 모두 다른 변화를 보였으나, 그 후로는 서로 유사한 패턴으로 호르몬이 변화하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 발정동기화를 위한 호르몬 주사가 개체에 서로 다르게 작용하여 발정을 유도하고 최종 처치 후로는 유사한 발정이 유도되어 유사한 호르몬 상태를 보인 것으로 생각된다. 본 연구의 결과를 한국 재래흑염소 번식에서 인공수정이나 수정란 이식과 같은 기술에 접목한다면 효율적인 개량유도에 기여할 것으로 판단된다. The purpose of the study is to investigate the change in the blood progesterone (P4) and estrogen (E2) levels when applying different estrus induction protocols to Korean black goats, and this was done to gain understanding about their reproduction physiology. For the experiment, we performed three estrus induction protocols that are commonly used in bovine: controlled internal drug release (CIDR) + prostaglandin F2ɑ (PGF2ɑ), PGF2ɑ + gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) + PGF2ɑ, and CIDR + PGF2ɑ + PMSG. The P4 and E2 concentrations showed different patterns until the last treatment of the three protocols. However, similar concentration patterns were shown after the last treatment in all the protocols. In conclusion, we monitored the blood P4 and E2 levels in Korean black goats following three different estrus induction protocols. Our findings may be used in other breeding programs of Korean black goats, such as artificial insemination and embryo transfer.
다양한 혈청 물질의 첨가가 염소 수정란의 체외배양에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 염소 수정란의 체외배양용 배지에 FBS, gBS 및 PVA 첨가시 배발달 및 apoptosis 발생률을 분석하여 체외배양시 각 첨가물의 효과를 조사하였다. 체외성숙 후 체외수정을 실시하여 체외배양 배지에 10% FBS, 10% gBS 및 10% PVA를 첨가하고 배발달 효율과 배반포의 품질을 확인하기 위해 TUNEL assay를 통해 apoptosis 발생 비율을 조사한 결과, 난할률 및 배반포 형성률에서 처리군 모두 대조군(무혈청) 보다 유의적으로 높은 결과를 보였다. 특히 gBS와 PVA 처리군에서 각각 31.95, 35.29%로 유의적으로 가장 높은 배반포 형성률을 보였다. 또한 TUNEL assay의 결과에서도 배발달 비교실험에서와 같이 대조군에서 가장 적은 총세포수와 가장 높은 apoptosis 비율을 보였으며, gBS와 PVA 처리군에서 가장 많은 총세포수 및 가장 적은 apoptosis 비율을 보였다. 염소의 체외배양 효율 향상을 위한 본 연구의 결과, 무혈청 배지나 FBS첨가 보다는 gBS나 PVA의 첨가가 배발달 효율뿐만 아니라 배반포 품질에도 긍정적임을 알 수 있었으나, gBS내 확인되지 않는 물질들의 위험성을 감안했을 때 PVA가 보다 안전하고 효율적일 것으로 생각된다. This study examined the effects of fetal bovine serum (FBS), goat blood serum (gBS), and poly-vinyl alcohol (PVA) on the in vitro development and embryo quality of goats for an improvement of embryo production. For the experiment, an in vitro fertilized embryo culture medium was supplemented with 10% FBS, 10% gBS, and 10% PVA to determine their effects on the embryo development efficiency and blastocyst quality. The results showed that the non-serum supplementation group showed significantly lower cleavage rate and blastocyst formation. On the other hand, the gBS and PVA supplementation groups showed a significant increase in the cleavage rate and better blastocyst formation than the control and FBS supplementation group. Furthermore, a TUNEL assay performed to confirm the blastocyst quality showed the same pattern as the embryo development experiment. These results showed that the supplemented gBS or PVA was more efficient in enhancing the in vitro development efficiency of goats than the supplementation of FBS or non-serum. On the other hand, considering the risk of an unidentified factor in gBS, PVA appears to be safer and more efficient in the in vitro development of goat embryos.

Laser surface polishing is a polishing method for improving surface roughness using an integrated laser beam. Using a laser for surface polishing can improve the surface condition without physical contact or chemical action. Laser polishing has mainly been used to polish the surface of diamond or optical articles, such as lenses and glasses. Recently, diverse studies on laser polishing for metals have been conducted. The analytic study of laser surface polishing has been conducted with experimental trials for comparison, so that the proper conditions for laser polishing can be recommended. In this study, laser surface polishing was simulated in order to predict the heat-affected zone on the die steel depending on the power of the pulsed laser. The simulated results were verified by comparing them to those of the experimental trials. Through this study, therefore, the application of FEM to the selection of appropriate laser conditions could be possible.
희곡 『물리학자들』에 나타난 프리드리히 뒤렌마트의 세계관 연구

Friedrich Durrenmatt ist einer der deutschsprachigen Autoren der Nachkriegszeit, die sich ihrer Zeit gegenuber moralisch verantwortlich fuhlen. Er fuhlt sich verpflichtet, das Seine zur Bewaltigung von Gegenwartsproblemen zu tun. Das aubert sich in der Wahl der dramatischen Gattung, namlich der Komodie als Kunstmittel, die heutige Welt durch das Grosteke zur Darstellung zu bringen. Das Groteske ist das notwendige Mittel, das das Komische und das Grausige in paradoxem Phantasiespiel in ubermutiger und zugleich verbluffender Weise nebeneinanderstellt. Durrenmatts Theaterstuck "Die Physiker", das 1962 uraufgefuhrt wurde, ist einer der grobten Erfolge des deutschsprchigen Theaters nach dem Kriege sowohl in Deutschland als auch der Welt. Diesem Erfolg verdankt es sowohl seiner besonderen Form als auch seinem zeitgemaben Inhalt. Oberflachlich gesehen ist das Stuck eine spannende Kriminalkomodie mit mehrfach uberraschenden Wendungen und gehort zu der Art des Satyrspiels. Konkreter Hintergrund des Dramas ist die Zeit des Kalten Krieges nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, in der mehrfach die atomare Auseinandersetzung zwischen den beiden Supermachten drohte. Besonders bei Friedrich Durrenmatt erscheint die Ideologiekritik als zentrales Hauptmotiv und Anlab zur kritischen Auseinandersetzung. Drei Physiker haben sich in eine Irrenanstalt gefluchtet, um die Weltvernichtungsformel geheim zu halten bzw. zu stehlen. Mobius ist der Entdecker der Formel und der Moralist, der sich aus Angst vor den Konsequenzen seines Denkens an diesen letzten Ort der scheinbaren Sicherheit zuruckgezogen hat. Die beiden anderen nennen sich Newton und Einstein und sind Agenten der Weltmachtblocke Ost und West, mit dem Auftrag, die Formel zu stehlen. Schlieblich eint die drei die Einsicht, lieber gemeinsam im Irrenhaus zu bleiben, als die Welt vernichtet zu sehen. Sie simulieren den Wahnsinn bis zum Schluss. Doch die einzig wirklich Wahnsinnige ist Mathide von Zahnd, die Irrenarztin. Sie hat die Formel langst an sich gebracht und wird die letzte Herrscherin der untergehenden Welt. Das Opfer der drei Physiker war umsonst. Mit dieser verbluffenden Form will Durrenmatt den Zuschauer fur das Gewicht des entscheidenden Zufalls und die Gefahrdung der Menschheit interessieren. Nun liegt der Schlub nahe, die Komodie sei der Ausdruck der Verzweiflung. Gewib, wer das Sinnlose, das Hoffnungslose dieser Welt sieht, kann verzweifeln, doch ist diese Verzweiflung nicht eine Folge dieser Welt, sondern eine Antwort, die man auf diese Welt gibt. Es kann nicht geleugnet werden, dab das Drama nicht die Kunst der Nihilisten, sondern weit eher der Moralisten ist.
