Bacteriocin Production by Streptococcus sp. J-C1 Isolated from Kimchi

Streptococcus sp J-C1 producing bacteriocin was isolated from Kimchi. The optimum conditions for bacteriocin production by Streptococcus sp. J-C1 were evaluated. For the maximum yield of bacteriocin production by Streptococcus sp. J-C1, the cell should be harvested at the late stationary phase and the temperature, pH and NaCl concentration should be 25$\circ$C, pH 8 and without the addition of NaCl, respectively. Sucrose should be used as a carbon source and organic nitrogen such as peptone should be used as a nitorgen source for the best yield. The production of bacteriocin is related to the cell growth of Streptococcus sp. J-C1. The bacteriocin from Streptococcus sp. J-C1 was active for gram positive microorganisms such as Lactobacillus sp., Leuconoctoc sp., Lactococcus sp., Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus amd Bacillus subtilis and also active for gram negetive bacteria such as Acetobacter aceti. Antibacterial activity of the bacteriocin was completely disappeared by protease treatment.
김정은 시대 북한 핵 개발의 국내정치동학: ‘정당성의 정치’와 ‘핵 민족주의’

본 연구는 북한 핵 개발의 시작과 동기에 대한 기존 연구 성과들을 활용함과 동시에 이를 보완하는 차원에서 핵 개발의 지속과 효과와 관련한 정치적 동학을 설명하려는 시도이다. 지난 30여 년 동안 지속되어온 북한의 핵 개발은 일시적 사건이라기보다 장기적 과정으로서의 성격을 지니고 있다. 따라서 그 시작만큼이나 지속에 대한, 동기만큼이나 효과에 대한 포괄적 분석이 필요하다. 관련하여 본 연구는 북한 민족주의와 핵 담론의 결합이 김정은 정권 이후 본격화된 점에 주목한다. 김정은 정권은 매우 체계적인 방식으로 핵 개발의 성취를 민족주의와 결합시킨 일종의 ‘핵 민족주의’를 생산함으로써 정치적 정당성 구축을 시도했으며, 그것이 김정은 시대 핵 개발의 지속과 효과를 설명하는 중요한 변수가 될 수 있다는 것이다. 특히 본 연구는 이와 같은 정치적 기획의 ‘생산’ 측면을 ‘정당성의 정치’라는 개념을 통해 포착함과 동시에, 북한이탈주민 심층면접 조사를 통해 그러한 기획이 실제 인민에게는 어떻게 받아들여지고 있는지와 관련한 핵 민족주의의 ‘소비’ 측면도 함께 분석하고자 시도했다. This study attempts to explain the political dynamics related to the continuation and effectiveness of North Korean nuclear development in order to supplement the existing research results on the beginning and motive of the nuclear development. North Korean nuclear development, which has lasted more than three decades, has a long-term nature rather than a temporary event. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of the persistence and the consequences is necessary as much as its beginning and motivation. This study notes that the combination of North Korean nationalism and nuclear discourse have begun in earnest after the Kim Jong-un regime. The Kim Jong-un regime has attempted to build political legitimacy by producing a kind of “nuclear nationalism” that combines the achievement of nuclear development with nationalism in a very systematic manner, and that could be an important variable to explain the continuation and effectiveness of nuclear development in the Kim Jong-un era. In particular, this study tries to capture the “production” aspect of such political planning through the concept of “politics of legitimacy,” while also analyzing the “consumption” aspect of nuclear nationalism regarding how such a project is actually being accepted by the people through an in-depth interview with North Korean defectors.

In this study, the integrated safety management system, which plays a critical role to mitigate the accidents due to toxic gas release, is investigated. This system has to include all information about related entities or organizations and actions for handling toxic gases. Since there is no system available for systematic first response in case of these accidents, this highly trigger big accidents. Thus, in order to respond to toxic gas accidents promptly at an early stage, a network including all related organizations and corporations should be established to work each other and implement the integrated safety management. Throughout a trial operations of this system, it will be modified and widely used by related entities, organizations, research and academic institutes, corporations, etc.
김치 유산균인 Lactobacillus sp. JJ-2001이 생산하는 Bacteriocin에 관한 연구

The microorganisms producing bacteriocin from kimch were screened, and among them,a strain showing the highest bacteriocin activity and stability was isolated. Based on the taxonomic characteristics of its morphological, cultural and physiological properties, the isolatef strain was characterized as Lactobacilius sp..To identify optimal conditions for the growth and the production of bacteriocin from the isolated strain,nutrient source, initial pH, and culture temperature were evaluated. Physiochemical properties of bacteriocin was also investigated. The potimal condition for the production of bacteriocin and the cell growth was obtained at 2% glucose, 1% beef extract as organic nitrogen source,1%(NH_4)_2SO_4 as inorganic nitrogen source,and 0.1% Tween 80. The isolated strain showed the maximum growth at 25℃. The inhibitory range of its antimicrobial substance aginst gram positive bacteria was marrow and its inhibitory activity was maintained between pH3.0 and pH8.0. The antimicrobial activity of bacteriocin from the isolated strain was stable at 50℃.
