        안 외상 환자의 초음파 진단

        Ultrasound B-scan examination of traumatized eye is a safe, cheap & easy diagnostic method for visualization of the posterior pole of the eye. Ophthalmoscopic visualization of the fundus of traumatized eye can be obscured by corneal opacity, anterior chamber hyphema, cataractous change of the lens, or hemorrhage of the vitreous. Ultrasound B-scan examination of the posterior pole is imperative in such cases to detect any intraocular damage and the presence of a foreign body. So we performed ultrasound B-scan examination of traumatized eye in seventy eight patients & analyzed those findings. All cases were confirmed by follow up examination of ophthalmoscopy & ultrasound, or surgery. The results were as follows ; 1. The most common cause of the ocular injury was traffic accidents (19 patients, 24.4%), male was more commonly injured (63 patients, 80.8%), and the most common age group was their 4th decade. 2. summary of sonographically detected intraocular lesions were as follow ; 1) corneal opacity (44 patients)-hyphema 15, traumatic cataract 24 vitreous hemorrhage 31, retinal detachment 20, intraocular foreign body 4, etc. 20 hyphema(16 patients)-hyphema 16, vitreous hemorrhage 11, retinal detachment 5, etc. 3) Traumatic cataract with no corneal or lens opacity(6 patients)-vitreous hemorrhage with or without retinal detachment 3, normal vitreous & retina 3 4) Vitreous opacity(12 patients)-vitreous hemorrhage 12, retinal detachment 4, intraocular foreign body 3, etc. In all seventy eight patients with ocular trauma, we could demonstrate characteristic findings for each intraocular lesion. So we recognized the importent role and high diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound B-scan examination for the evaluation of the posterior pole of traumatized eye.

      • Neurolathyrism에 關한 實驗的 硏究 : 第3編 Neurolathyrism에 있어서의 興奮 傳達 및 小腦症狀 發現 機序에 對한 實驗的 硏究 Park 3: A Study on the Propagating Mechanism of the ECC (Excitation, Choreiform and Circling Movements) and Cerebellar Syndromes in Acute Neurolathyrism

        Among the various neurological manifestations of the experimental lathyrism, syndrom tournant or ECC syndrome; excitation, choreiform and circling movements has interested not only experimental workers but neuropsychiatrists and neurosurgeons. Recently several studies on the machanism of the syndrome have been reported but was not yetclearifred it in detail. Some authors have observed that the abnormal EEG pattern in ECC syndrom became completely normal with administration of thyroxine, and some authors also suggested that the possibility of utilization of this lathyrus factor as a new excitatory psychodrug with slight modification of its chemical structure. In part 2 of this thesis, the author also has observed a considerable number of ECC syndrome in the lathyrismized mices especially in the epileptic group. As a measure to study the mechanism fo the syndrome, EEG action potentials were recorded from various levels in the brain of lathyrismized rabbits induced with BAPN administration. In one group, the electrodes were placed at the motor area, reticular formation of mid brain, dentate nucleus and festigial nucleus in the cerebellum; and in other group, they were placed at the motor area, temporal cortex, thalamis, reticular formation of midbrain, dentate nucleus and upper part of the vermis respectively. On analysing these records, the most marked abnormality in the pattern was observed in the leads at the reticular formation of the mid brain. The potential variety suggested excitability in the cerebral cortex and hypofunction in the cerebellum; and at the stage of appearent ataxia and unbalance of head posture developed more significant changes at the cerebellar nuclei leads were noted. As the cause of autonomic nervous system disorders in the acute neurolathyrism, affection of the posterior hypothalamus through a role of complicated neuronal mechanism in the reticular formation could be considered.

      • 直接螢光抗體法에 依한 고양이의 Toxoplasma 感染 樣相에 關한 調査 硏究

        A study on the direct fluorescent antibody test using the several organ tissues and stamp smear of domestic cats which are the final and favorate host of Toxoplasma gondii, was performed. The organ tissue used was prepared in 6-8μm thickness by frozen section at -20℃ and stamp smear sample was prepared by smear wet mounting. Fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC) conjugates was diluted by 4 fold, 1:4, 1:16, 1:256 in phosphate buffer saline (PBS, pH 7.2). A total of 35 domestic cats which is being commerced in Jungang domestic animal market, Taejeon, was examined. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Fluorescent zone of Toxoplasma was mainly part of below microtubuel and cell membrane. 2. Fluorescent reaction was no-fluorescent and non-specific reaction in under the titer 1:4, and in over the titer it was reacted in 16 samples of the tissue organ, 4 sample s of smear. 3. Positive rate of tissue specimen was 8.6% in liver, 5.8% in spleen, lung heart respectively, 2.9% in lymph node. 4. Positive rate of stamp smear specimen was 2.9% in liver, spleen lung, respectively. 5. Among 35 domestic cats, infected domestic cats were indentified to 5 domestic cats, corresponding to 14.3%.

      • Neurotlahyrism에 關한 實驗的 硏究 : Park 2 : Experimental Study on Acute Neurolathyrism in Mice

        Acute and subacute neurolathyrism were induced in mice with administration of the beta-aminopropionitrile intramuscularly or intraabdominally, and the developing symtoms were followed in the courses of 1-5 hours for the acute group and of 1-2 weeks for the subacute group. Unexpectedly, epileptic convulsion was observed in about 14% of the total experimental mices in addition to the constant symtoms, ataxia and tremor. The neurochemical changes in these lathyrismized mices were studied with determination of cholinestrase a water, Na and K contents in both cerebrum and cerebellum as we11 as of free amino acids and conversion of C^(14)- labelled glutamic acid in cerebrum. 1) The ChE activity was moderately decreased in cerebrum at 90 minutes after administration of BAPN. It was, in contrast, markedly increased in cerebellilm at 60 minutes after administration of BAPN, when those manifestations such as tremor and ataxia were evidently observed. 2) The total water content was not significantly changed in cerebrum and slightly increased in cerebellum in case of epileptic death. 3) The total Na and K contentslwere found in tendency of decrement in cerebrum, but Na wa found to be decreased after temporary increment and K was fluctuated in content in cerebellum. 4) The content of free amino acids in cerebrum was as follows. ⅰ) Aspartic acid was increased at acute stage, but: gradually decreased both in subacute and seizure stages. ⅱ) Glutamic acid was generally decreased both in acute and subacute stages, but moderately increased in seizure stage. ⅲ) GABA was moderately increased at the first hour, but decreased to the level of control at the 5 th hour, and markedly increased at seizure stage and markedly decreased at subacute stage. 5) The conversion of 84-labelled glutamic acid to free amino acids was decreased in case of GABA, glutamine and aspartic acid, and increased in case of glutamic acid comparing with the control.
