Henoch-Schonlein purpura or Anaphylactiod purpura is rare syndrome in adults characterized by a symmetrical, non traumatic, nonthrombocytopenic, painless purpuric rash, arthritis, nephritis, gastrointestinal manifestation. G-I tract involvement is characterized by abdominal pain, G-I bleeding. Although the small bowel is more frequently involved, cases of esophageal, gastroduodenal and colorectal localization have been rarely reported. Recently, we have experienced a case of Henoch-schonlein purpura with renal, skin, extensive gastrointestinal involvement in a 53 year-old male patient who complained of pain, purpura, generalized abdominal pain, dyspnea. The endoscopic findings of duodenum and colon in a patient with Henoch-Schonlein purpura are presented.

3-Dimensional fibrous mats is open structure with sinuously looped and self-bonded macronlaments and they have been used for the purpose of erosion control, embankment protection. Canal construction and sports complex antral so forth. Since transverse strength and porosity of the fibrous mats are very important properties, many observations on these increase have been studied. In the present work, 3-Dimensional fibrous mats are made with continuous melt-spun polypropylene(PP) macrofilament for different processing parameters with a newly designed melt-spinning system. The characteristics of these process are found that PP macrofilaments are spun toward the pattern roller with frequency roller to increase the strength of fibrous mats and to form interlooped filaments adhering to each other at random overlapping points of intersection. And we evaluate the erect of processing collditions i. e., spinning distance(b/w nozzle and pattern roller). take-up speed and frequency speed on the structure and properties of mats.

High-modulus, high-strength POM and PET films were produced by MISELA(micro-wave selective absorption) drawing. The influence of ambient temperature on the maximum modulus and strength has been examined. The properties of POM and PET films drawn by MISELA and conventional drawing were investigated by using tensile testing, X-ray diffracto-metry, DSC, and DMA. The highest Young's modulus and tensile strength of POM and PET films drawn by MISELA drawing were 62, 7.8 GPa and 1.1, 0.32 GPa at their maximum draw ratios, respectively. The mechanical properties were improved by conducting the MISELA drawing, due to the increased orientation in the amorphous regions. MISELA drawing seems to be an effective method in producing highly-oriented polymer films, especially in orienting the chain molecules in the amorphous regions.

The diffusion behavior of methanol in PET films is investigated, which has been simply regarded as an apparent-Fickian behavior so far. Using the Kelly-Buche equation and adopting the classification scheme of Alfiey and Vrentas, the diffusion of methanol can be classified as the concentration dependent Fickian behavior above the 79 while the concentration independent Fickian behavior is observed below the Tg. The crystallization behavior is found to be strongly dependent on the solvent quality and diffusion process. It is so slow in methanol that it starts only after the solvent diffusion reaches the saturation limit.

Purpose : Mitochondrial dysfunction can present with various symptoms depending on the organ it has affected. This research tried to analyze the ophthalmologic symptoms and ophthalmologic examination (OE) results in patients with mitochondrial disease (MD). Methods : Seventy-four patients diagnosed with mitochondrial respiratory chain complex defect with biochemical enzyme assay were included in the study. They were divided into 2 groups based on the OE results by funduscopy and were analyzed on the basis of their clinical features, biochemical test results, morphological analysis, and neuroimaging findings. Results : Thirty-seven (50%) of the 74 MD patients developed ophthalmologic symptoms. Abnormal findings were observed in 36 (48.6%) patients during an OE, and 16 (21.6%) of them had no ocular symptoms. Significantly higher rates of prematurity, clinical history of epilepsy or frequent apnea events, abnormal light microscopic findings in muscle pathology, diffuse cerebral atrophy in magnetic resonance imaging, and brainstem hyperintensity and lactate peaks in magnetic resonance spectroscopy were noted in the group with abnormal OE results. Conclusion : Although the ophthalmologic symptoms are not very remarkable in MD patients, an OE is required. When the risk factors mentioned above are observed, a more active approach should be taken in the OE because a higher frequency of ocular involvement can be expected.
