A 4-month-old, intact male, Tosa with a history of a regurgitation, vomiting, and weight los for threeweeks was presented to Animal Medical Center, Chonbuk National University. In Serial plain radiographs, a severelyan obstruction of pyloric region by pyloric achalasia. An esophagram and endoscopy revealed normal peristalsis withfailure of the lower esophageal sphincter to open, supporting the diagnosis of esophageal achalasia. Megaesophaguswas observed on reradiograph and esophagram 11 days later. The clinical signs and esophageal dilation were resolvedwithout resorting to any treatment.

This tudy was performed to examine the influenceof isoflurane anesthesia on the pulsatility index (PI)and the peak systolic velocity (PSV) of the blood flowin the basilar tery of dogs by duplex Doplerultrasonography. Twelve healthy dogs were used tomeasure the PI and the PSV under the consciousstate and isoflurane anesthesia. The pulsatility indexartery were measured five times with random intervals.The blod pressure was measured. The PI and PSVvalues in dogs under isoflurane anesthesia were 1.37± 0.32 and 72 ± 19 cm/sec, whereas those in thec o n s c i o u s d o g s w e r e 1 . 3 7 ± 0.13 and 81 ± 16 cm/sec,respectively. The indirect mean arterial systolic anddiastolic pressures under isoflurane anesthesia were107 and 51 mHg, whereas those in the consciousdogs were 13 and 74 mHg. Though the isoflurane isno significant differences in the PI and PSV betwenthe isoflurane-anesthetized and the conscious dogs. Inconclusion, the isoflurane anesthesia did not influencethe PI and PSV in the basilar artery of dogs.

α-Cyanovinyl acetate는 Ethyllithium과 같이 센염기성 촉매를 사용하면 분해되어 중합제를 생성하지 못하나, 약한 염기성 촉매인 pyridine의 존재하에서는 비교적 고온에서도 음이온 중합이 가능하다. 이 때에는 중합 온도가 높기 때문에 열중합도 동시에 진행된다. 0.12mol/ℓ이하의 농도에서 pyridine은 열중합의 금지제로 작용하고, benzoquinone을 첨가하면 비로서 유효한 음이온 개시제가 된다. 또 benzoquinone을 첨가한 계에 있어서의 중합 속도는 pyridine 농도의 1차에 비례한다. α-Cyanovinyl acetate와 styrene과의 pyridine-benzoquinone계 촉매에 의한 괴상 음이온 공중합에서는 monomer 반응성비가 각각 γ_1=10.0 and γ_2=0.01이었다. α-Cyanovinyl acetate is polymerized anionically at 70˚C in the presence of pyridine, a weak base, although the presence of strong base such as ethyllithium leads to decomposition of the monomer. The anionic polymerization accompanies radical polymerization at a relatively high temperature. Pyridine in concentration up to 0.12mol/ℓ works inhibitory for the radical polymerization of α-cyanovinyl acetate, while it serves efficiently as anionic catalyst in the presence of p-penzoquinone. The rate of the anionic polymerization is directly proportional to the concentration of pyridine. In the anionic bulk-copolymerization of α-cyanovinyl acetate and styrene, pyridine-benzoquinone catalyst gives γ_1=10.0 and γ_2=0.01.
