Psoriasis is a common immune-mediated skin disease. Myasthenia gravis and Graves’ disease are autoimmune diseases caused by autoantibodies against receptors located at the neuromuscular junction and thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, respectively. A 29-year-old male presented with recurrent multiple erythematous scaly papules and plaques on his legs that had persisted for 3 years. A diagnosis of plaque psoriasis was made based on clinicopathological findings. The patient had a 26-year history of ocular myasthenia gravis, for which he had not been received any specific treatment. He also had a long history of Graves’ disease. To the best of our knowledge, psoriasis with myasthenia gravis and Graves’ disease has not been reported previously in the literature. Herein, we describe our examination of the causes of concurrent psoriasis, myasthenia gravis, and Graves’ disease.

Three new triterpene glycosides (Lonicerosides K, L and M) and 11 known compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of Weigela subsessilis. Among the known isolated compounds, loniceroside A, sweroside, kaempferol-3-O-glucopyranoside 600-(3-hydroxy-3-methylglutarate), kaempferol-3-O-acetylglucoside and grandifloroside were reported for the first time in a Weigela genus plant. Their chemical structures were identified using extensive spectroscopic analysis including two-dimensional (2D)-NMR experiments, HR-ESI-QTOF-MS and comparison with reported data. Among these compounds, lonicerosides A and L had potent melanogenesis stimulatory activity in murine B16F0 melanoma cells. The structural relationship of active compounds was discussed.

The research aims to identify research trend of academic journals related to senior depression and exercise published on the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), National Digital Science Library (NDSL) in the Republic of Korea, and the National Center for Biotechnology Information (PUBMED) in the United States for the past 20 years based on the most frequently used keywords. With such a study on senior depression and physical activities, the research suggests a direction that further research on respective topics in Korea may pursue. Keyword network analysis was adopted, which bases on network algorithm; network text analysis was conducted utilizing the SNA package of program R (version 4.01) to analyze frequently used keywords and identify the connective structure among those words. As a result, keywords with high frequency could be categorized into three big areas: individual’s happiness (quality of life, life satisfaction), physical activities (physical activity, ADL, IADL, physical function), and mental health (cognitive function, cognitive, dementia, depressive symptom). First, a total of 7 research papers were found to have used 18 keywords related to the happiness of individuals such as quality of life and life satisfaction: life satisfaction (7 times), depression (5 times), elderly (4 times), depression reduction (1 time), and 14 others (1 time each). Second, a total of 28 papers used 50 keywords related to physical activities such as ADL, IADL, physical activity, and physical function: depression (26 times), physical activity (16 times), ADL (13 times), elderly (12 times), IADL (5 times), cognition (4 times), social support (4 times), exercise (3 times), sleep (3 times), dementia (2 times), pain (2 times), physical health (2 times), Institution elderly (1 time), and other 37 keywords (1 time). Third, a total of 20 research papers used 51 keywords related to mental health such as cognitive function, cognitive, dementia, and depressive symptom: depression (14 times), cognitive function (12 times), dementia (6 times), elderly women (6 times), depressive symptom (4 times), elderly (4 times), quality of life (3 times), aerobic exercise (2 times), cognition (2 times), combined exercise (2 times), social support (2 times), BDI (1 time) and other 39 keywords (1 time). In conclusion, as our society is nearing a super-aged society, research on senior depression and exercise should be conducted further to devise ways to encourage physical activities of senior citizens and boost their social participation by enhancing their physical confidence. Social support is therefore necessary to improve the cognitive functions of senior citizens and prevent dementia.
Recent Advances in Enzyme Engineering through Incorporation of Unnatural Amino Acids
원유미,Amol D. Pagar,Mahesh D. Patil,Philip E. Dawson,윤형돈 한국생물공학회 2019 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.24 No.4
The development of new enzyme engineering technologies has been actively pursued as the industrial use of biocatalysts is rapidly increasing. Traditional enzyme engineering has been limited to changing the functional properties of enzymes by replacing one amino acid with the other 19 natural amino acids. However, the incorporation of unnatural amino acids (UAAs) has been exploited to manipulate efficient enzymes for biocatalysis. This has been an effective enzyme engineering technique by complementing and extending the limits of traditional enzymatic functional changes. This review paper describes the basic functions of the new functional groups of UAAs used in enzyme engineering and the utilization of UAAs in the formation of chemical bonds in the proteins. The recent developments of UAA-mediated enzymology and its applicability in industry, pharmaceutical and other research areas to overcome the limitations of existing enzymes is also emphasized.

The research aims to identify the relationship between health concerns, exercise satisfaction, and exercise adherence of leisure sports participants. To achieve the objective, regular users of a sports center based in Seoul who participate in leisure sports were selected as the cluster. Also, purposive sampling was conducted to collect data, utilizing the scales of health concerns, exercise satisfaction, and exercise adherence. Then, statistical software SPSS and AMOS 21 were used to carry out 1) identification and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), 2) canonical correlation analysis (CCA), and 3) multiple linear regression. Three major findings were derived from the research. First, the variables were significantly related to each other. Secondly, health concerns were found to be having a positive effect on exercise satisfaction and exercise adherence. And finally, exercise satisfaction had a partially positive impact on exercise adherence.
