Vol.11 No.1

The study focused on finding out how the group art therapy for promoting Individuation influences Maternal Separation Anxiety, Parenting Stress and Differentiation of Self affects mothers who have handicapped children. In order to proceed the research, the study selected mothers whose handicapped children are under treatment at an C Children Center of S city. Also 8 of the selected mothers with handicapped children were categorized to a test group and another 8 of them were sent to a control group. For the test group, the group art therapy for promoting individuation was conducted once a week which made the participants get involved in 10 group therapies in total. Both of the test group and the control group were examined before and after the program. To achieve the goal of the research, the scores of Maternal Separation Anxiety, Parenting Stress and Differentiation of Self were recorded in comparison with scores before the program and scores after the program. The results of the research indicated that the test group showed a more meaningful reduction in Maternal Separation Anxiety Scale and Parenting Stress Scale than the reduction that appeared in the control group. For Differentiation of Self Scale, the test group was ended up with better outcome than the control group, however it is not meaningful statistically. Considering the results gained from the experimentation, the group art therapy for Promoting Individuation was certainly verified to be effective to reduce Maternal Separation Anxiety as well as Parenting Stress on mothers who have handicapped children. Key words:Mothers with handicapped children, Group Art Therapy, Maternal Separation Anxiety, Parenting Stress, Differentiation of Self.

Vol.19 No.2

The purpose of this study is to explore the migration experience of "trailing wife" who followed their husbands overseas and to clarify its meaning and essence. The participants were five married women who followed their husbands abroad, had been living there for less than three years, and did not have a fixed period of residency, and were not familiar with the local language. Data were collected through in art-based interview, and the analysis was conducted using Giorgi's phenomenological data analysis method. As a result, 191 units of meaning, 40 units of summarized meaning, 19 sub-constituent elements, and 6 constituent elements were derived. The results of this study are as follows. The "trailing wife" in this study decided to migrate based on family priorities. They experienced a decline in their emotional and behavioral states in the host country and found it difficult to live an autonomous life due to a lack of language proficiency. They feel the need for a stable confidant with whom they can share their hearts, and experience bleak and uneasy emotions about their own future. However, they made various efforts to adapt to their environment, reflected more deeply on themselves, and even took creative challenges. Finally, based on these research findings, we discussed the migration decisions, identities, and psychosocial support of "trailing wife".

Vol.30 No.3

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the experience of art therapists in art-based online peer-supervision and the meaning of the experience. For this, the art-based online peer-supervision was conducted for a total of 8 sessions from July to September 2021. We conducted in-depth interviews with 7 participants who met the research purpose. The experiences of art therapists reconstructed through narrative inquiry are as follows: “sharing case difficulties and weight”, “talking about our reality and promoting growth”, “reminding oneself of the basics and talking about the future”, “rediscovering oneself in images” and “experiencing aspects of digital media and exploring potentiality of the media”. The meaning of experience is included the following: “a place for information sharing for art therapists”, “time for self-awareness and self-checking”, “motives for recovery and healing”, “meeting with various perspectives that broaden the field of vision”, “flexibility and creativity that accommodate changes and participants' needs” and “recognizing mutual understanding and healing power of the art”. Based on the results, the implications of this study are as follows. Art-based online peer-supervision is a place of connection and communication for art therapists, promotes self-awareness, and experiences of healing, caring, and growth together. Based on these contents, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.

Molecular Characterization of the NF2 Gene in Korean Patients with Neurofibromatosis Type 2: A Report of Four Novel Mutations

2010 Annals of Laboratory Medicine Vol.30 No.2

Background : Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) is an autosomal dominant syndrome caused by the NF2 tumor suppressor gene. However, the NF2 mutation characteristics in Korean patients are not sufficiently understood. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive mutational analysis in 7Korean NF2 patients by performing direct sequencing and gene-dosage assessment. Methods : We analyzed all exons and flanking regions of NF2 by direct sequencing and screened the deletions or duplications involving NF2 by multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification. Results : Four novel NF2 mutations, including 2 splice-site mutations (c.364-1G>A and c.886-3C>G), 1 frameshift mutation (c.524delA), and 1 missense mutation (c.397T>C; p.Cys133Arg), were identified in our patients. No large deletion or duplication was identified in our series. Subsequently,we identified an abnormal splicing product by using reverse transcription-PCR and direct sequencing in 2 patients with a novel splice-site mutation. The missense mutation c.397T>C was predicted to have harmful effects on protein function. Conclusions : The detection rate of NF2 mutations in Korean patients (57%) is similar to those in other populations. Our results provided a greater insight into the mutational spectrum of the NF2 gene in Korean subjects. (Korean J Lab Med 2010;30:190-4)
