The income and price elasticities of the timber demand for the 27 years (1953-79) in Korea were analyzed by the 3 economic growth stages - in 1953∼61, in 1962∼71, in 1972∼79-. The results obtained are as follows : 1. In 1953∼79, the income and price elasticities of the total timber demand were respectively 1.87 and -0.47 ; those of the domestic timber demand were respectively 0.09 and -0.30 ; those of the foreign timber demand were respectively 2.50 and -0.11. 2. In 1953∼61, the income and price elastieities of the tatal timber demand were respectively 2.11 and -0.86 ; those of the demestic timber demand were respectively -2.94 and -0.57 ; those of the foreign timber demand were respectively 1.20 and 0.43. 3. In 1962∼71, the income and price elastieities of the tatal timber demand were respectively 2.89 and -0.20 ; those of the demestic timber demand were respectively 1.38 and -0.25 ; those of the foreign timber demand were respectively 3.54 and -0.42. 4. In 1972∼79, the income and price elastieities of the tatal timber demand were respectively 1.07 and 0.17 ; those of the demestic timber demand were respectively 1.12 and 0.12 ; those of the foreign timber demand were respectively 1.22 and 0.17.

This research fundamentally deals with an analysis of service level for a multi-level inventory distribution system which is consisted of a central distribution center and several branches being supplied stocks from the distribution center, Under continuous review policy, the distribution center places an order for planned order quantity to an outside supplier, and the order quantity is received after a certain lead time. Also, each branch places an order for particular quantity to its distribution center, and receives the order quantity after a lead time. In most practical distribution environment, demands and lead times are generally not fixed or constant, but variable. And these variabilities make the analysis more complicated. Thus, the main objective of this research is to suggest a method to compute the service level at each depot, that is, the distribution center and each branch with variable demands and variable lead times. Further, the model will give an idea to keep the proper level of safety stocks that can attain effective or expected service level for each depot.

In this study, a traditional concept of sampling inspection plan for the quality assurance system is extended to a consideration of economic aspects in total production system by representing and analyzing the effects between proceeding / succeeding production process including inspection. This approach recognizes that the decision to be made at one manufacturing process (or assembly process) determine not only the cost and the average outgoing quality level of that process but also the input parameters of the cost and the incoming quality to the succeeding process. By analyzing the effects of the average incoming and outgoing quality, manufacturing/assembly quality level and sampling inspection plan on the production system, mathematical models and solution technique to minimize the total production cost for a single product manufacturing system with specked average outgoing quality limit(AOQL) are suggested.

ICLL 66 is the most widely ratified instrument of the IMO and is, along with the International Convention on Safety of life at Sea (SOLAS), the primary document setting forth internationally agreed ship safety standards. ICLL 66 set freeboard requirement based on experience gained from the first Load Line Convention in 1930 and on contemporary developments in ship design. Reexamination of ICLL 66 is indicated by the proliferation of novel ship designs for which it lacks adequate regulations and by significant advancements in analytical seakeeping and deck wetness prediction techniques now available to the designer. In this paper, the Freeboard Advisory Group reviews these issues against the changing climate of the marine industry and maritime administrations, discusses the state of the art in analytical seakeeping programs, and outlines a series of recommendations for the establishment of a new international load line convention for the next century. The steps needs for an international program at IMO are discussed and a new convention is proposed.
