Unusual Clinical Presentation of Oral Dermoid Cyst
문성용,윤정훈 대한구강악안면병리학회 2016 대한구강악안면병리학회지 Vol.40 No.3
Dermoid cysts represent approximately 34% of developmental cysts in the head and neck region, and they occur mostly at the midline of the floor of the mouth. However, dermoid cysts may also migrate laterally by expansion. The lesion is usually slow growing and painless, presenting as a doughy or rubbery mass that frequently retains pitting after application of pressure. The differential diagnosis for dermoid cysts includes infections, tumors, mucous extravasation phenomena and abnormalities arising during embryonic development. In this report, we present three cases of unusual oral dermoid cysts. The first case developed on the left floor of the mouth, the second case was in the left submandibular area, and the third case was in the sublingual and submental space. All lesions were removed by the intraoral approach. Histopathologic examination revealed a dermoid cyst. The cysts were lined by orthokeratinized stratified squamous epithelium, with a prominent granular cell layer. The cyst walls were composed of fibrous connective tissue that contained sebaceous glands, sweat glands, and hair follicles.
Three-dimensional modelling and analysis of cross-flow filtration combustion
문성용,심광보,김유택,이성철 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2009 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.10 No.3
Given that combustion synthesis reactions have a highly exothermic nature and a high activation energy, filtration combustion proceeds in the form of sharp fronts. Various front propagation phenomena are observed due, not only to the non-linear nature of the system, but also to the interaction of the gas-flow with the combustion front. In this study, a two-dimensional model of filtration combustion [1] in FLUENT using user-defined-functions (UDFs) was successfully expanded into a three dimensional model to study the behavior of the real systems. The implementation of the new three-dimensional model is validated using a sample problem solved earlier by Degreve et al. [2] and the new model correctly captures the complex behavior of the combustion front.
구강악안면외과 수술을 위한 가상현실(VR) 시뮬레이션의 활용
문성용 대한치과의사협회 2022 대한치과의사협회지 Vol.60 No.10
The aim of this study is to review the surgical application of virtual reality(VR) and augmented reality(AR) and report the cases by using virtual reality simulation and augmented reality navigation surgery. Virtual reality can provide an intuitive simulation that anyone can use easily and even if the understanding of the software is low. Virtual reality performs the operation in advance by reproducing the actual operation situation, and make the pre-operative plan. Virtual reality that makes this simulation possible, and this virtual reality-based simulation can also be used for surgical education. Additionally, from the virtual planning can be applied for making 3D printing surgical guide using exporting the pre-operative planning data. Augmented reality could be highly useful for navigation in real operation.

Five new species of the family Lichomolgidae associated with solitary ascidians are described from the east coast of Korea. Two new genera are proposed: Protomolgus n. gen. to incorpotate Protomolgus duplex n. sp. and P. singularis n. sp., and Dontimolgus n. gen. to incorporate Dontimolgus brevicaudatus n. sp. Protomolgus n. gen. characteristically has a four-segmented female maxilliped and a bipartite mandible. Dontimolgus n. gen. possesses a large, tooth-like process on the first maxillary segment and three spines on the third exopodal segment of leg 3. Other two new species described are Lichomolgus infirmus n. sp. and L. pectinatus n. sp.

Spatio-temporal patterns in the zooplankton communities, physicochemical environmental factors, and dominant species were examined in Gamak Bay from April, July, September, and November, 2003. A total of 40 taxa were sampled with a mean abundance of total zooplankton ranging from 270~1,803 inds/m3. The most abundant species was Acartia erythraea, followed by Eurytemora pacifica, Podon polyphemoides, A. omorii, and Paracalanus parvus s. l during the study period. Multivariate analysis revealed significant differences in community structure among three regions: the middle part of the sampling area (B), sites 1, 2 (A) and other sites (C). The number of species and diversity (H') varied significantly among the three regions (p<0.05), but no differences in the mean abundances were observed (p>0.05). In order to investigate factors affecting the correlations between the abundance of dominant species, all zooplankton and environmental factors ware calculated using a correlation analysis. Of these, the abundance of dominant taxon showed positive correlation with seawater temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen (p<0.05). In statistical analysis showed that the environmental factors influencing the variation of the communities were predominantly temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen.
