This study was designed to distinguish by the characteristic difference and the degree of symptoms such as fatigue, pain, coping to pain, and efficacy on pain, and to offer descriptive data for nursing intervention for improving coping ability to pain along each characteristics of disease in chronic arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. The subjects were 135 outpatients in the hospital for rheumatic disease in H-University, Seoul. The data were collected by structural questionnaire, from April 29 to June 29, 1999. The results were that the fatigue score was high in the OA patients while the RA patients and SLE patients experienced middle range of fatigue score, but which was not statistically different. Although the RA patients felt higher pain than other diseases, they have well coped with their pain than the others. In efficacy on pain the SLE patients had higher score than others but all of the disease showed lower score. No statistically significant difference among the three croup was recorded in efficacy on pain. Therefore, pain management in the RA patients was primary nursing intervention because they felt severe pain and have well coped with pain while they had lower pain efficacy score than the others. It is also important that fatigue management and coping strategies on pain for the OA patients and SLE patients are specially supportive in the nursing intervention.

The purpose of this study is to develop the microneedle using biodegradable and biocompatible polymer and to pioneer the new route of drug delivery through the research to apply the most desirable administration form of small molecules, peptides, proteins, genes, biological products including vaccines. Various biocompatible microneedles were manufactured. To apply drug to microneedle, drug formulation using ethylene vinyl acetate patch or polyacryl acid gel was developed. Drug permeation into rat skin based on the application method of patch or gel with microneedle was studied using Franz diffusion cell system. In vitro drug permeation results showed that the permeation by the application of hollow microneedle was not increased compared with solid microneedle. When G60 or G60*2 microneedle was used, the permeated amount of calcein was increased compared to when solid microneedle was used. The permeated amount of lidocaine HCl in 12 hr was increased when microneedle was used was increased. Skin irritation followed by microneedle showed there was little difference in the decrease of redness after microneedle application based on application time.

In order to establish a dyeing method with Magnoliaceae tree species dyeing was examined with 4 different parts, leaf, stem bark, root, flower of 4 Magnohaceae species, Magnolia kobus Dc., Magnolia denudata Desr, Magnolia obovata Thunb, Liriodendron tulipifera L Mordants used were chemicals, AIK(SO_4)_2 24H_2O, Ca(OH)_2, FeSO_4 7H_2O. All four species showed similar coloring among four different parts. Leaves and petals showed dark yellow, stem bark, grayish yellow, root bark, dark red or yellow. Al mordant made more brighter colour than Fe mordant. Stem bark showed less difference in color by mordants, whereas petals did the biggest.
Nonconjugated Anionic Polyelectrolyte as an Interfacial Layer for the Organic Optoelectronic Devices

<P>A nonconjugated anionic polyelectrolyte, poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS-Na), was applied to the optoelectronic devices as an interfacial layer (IFL) at the semiconducting layer/cathode interface. The ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy and the Kelvin probe microscopy studies support the formation of a favorable interface dipole at the organic/cathode interface. For polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs), the maximum luminance efficiency (LE<SUB>max</SUB>) and the turn-on voltage (<I>V</I><SUB>on</SUB>) of the device with a layer of PSS-Na spin-coated from the concentration of 0.5 mg/mL were 3.00 cd/A and 5.5 V, which are dramatically improved than those of the device without an IFL (LE<SUB>max</SUB> = 0.316 cd/A, <I>V</I><SUB>on</SUB> = 9.5 V). This suggests that the PSS-Na film at the emissive layer/cathode interface improves the electron injection ability. As for polymer solar cells (PSCs), the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the device with a layer of PSS-Na spin-coated from the concentration of 0.5 mg/mL was 2.83%, which is a 16% increase compared to that of the PSC without PSS-Na. The PCE improvement is mainly due to the enhancement of the short-circuit current (12% increase). The results support that the electron collection and transporting increase by the introduction of the PSS-Na film at the photoactive layer/cathode interface. The improvement of the efficiency of the PLED and PSC is due to the reduction of the Schottky barrier by the formation of a favorable interface as well as the better Ohmic contact at the cathode interface.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/aamick/2013/aamick.2013.5.issue-14/am400478b/production/images/medium/am-2013-00478b_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/am400478b'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
