        cDNA Cloning and Developmental Expression of Hemolin in Bombyx mandarina

        Bombyx mandarina, Hemolin, Imunoglobulin, Developmental profile, Spinning stage In this study, we describe the Bombyx mandarina hemolin cDNA. A sequence analysis of cDNA revealed a single open reading frame (ORF) of 1233 nucleotides. The deduced 410 amino acid sequence of B. mandarina hemolin contains 4 imunoglobulin (Ig) C-2 type domains. B. mandarina hemolin cDNA showed the highest sequence homology to known those of B. mori. The developmental profile in terms of expression level of hemolin mRNA was determined in the absence of a bacterial challenge. Hemolin mRNA was detected only in mid-gut, but not in hemocytes, fat body, testis, and silkglands. Hemolin mRNA in mid-gut was not detected until the spinning stage of the last instar larva, however, lit dramatically increased at the beginning of spinning and gradually decreased until pupal stage.

        연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업의 신제품 개발과 마케팅에 관한 연구

        벤처기업의 성공적인 신제품 개발과 마케팅에 관한 실증 연구는 일반적인 인과관계에 관한 정보를 제공하여 각 벤처기업이 처한 상황에서의 설명력이 떨어진다는 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 연구원 출신에 의해 창업된 연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업의 성공률이 다른 벤처기업보다 높다는 사실에서 착안하여 스핀오프 벤처기업의 신제품 개발과 마케팅에 관해 다루었다. 연구 내용은 스핀오프 벤처기업의 성장단계 및 이에 따른 신제품 개발과 마케팅에 관한 이론연구와 사례연구로 네오팜의 신제품 개발과 마케팅으로 구성되었다. 연구 결과, 스핀오프 벤처기업은 일반 벤처기업과 대비되는 성장 단계가 있으며 단계별로 고유한 과제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 성장단계별 신제품 개발 및 마케팅에 관한 과제 해결이 이루어져야 스핀오프 벤처기업은 후행 단계로의 도약이 이루어지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 후반부에 본 연구의 시사점과 한계, 그리고 향후 연구 방향을 제시하였다. Empirical studies of successful ventures have some limitations. One of limitation is that it provide overall casual relationships, so it could not provide specific explanations for an individual venture' success. The initial idea of this study is that research-based spin-off venture(spin-off venture, hereafter)'s success rate is higher than general ones. This study is focused on the new product development and marketing of spin-off venture. The contents consist of theoretical and case study of NeoPharm established by researcher that is focused on success factors of new product development and marketing to stages of growth in spin-off venture. The findings of the study are as follows. Firstly, spin-off venture has its own new product development and marketing issues to stages of growth contrasted with general ventures. Secondly, solving its new product evelopment and marketing issues at each stage of growth, spin-off venture can grow into the next stage successfully. Finally, the implications, limitations and further study directions based on the this study are discussed.

        Isolation and Expression of Hemolin in Bombyx mori

        Hemolin is a bacteria-induced immune protein found in the lepidopteran insect species. We isolated 1357 bp hemolin cDNA from the mid-gut in the middle of the spinning stage in B. mori, that demonstrated a high degree of similarity with hemolins from 4 species, M. sexta, H. cuena, H. cecropia, and L dispar. Hemolin mRNA was detected only in a microorganism invasion. The expression was not influenced by the external environment or materials. The developmental profile of the level of hemolin mRNA was determined in the absence of bacterial challenge. Hemolin mRNA was expressed only in the mid-gut, not in hemocytes, fat body, silk glands and gonads. During the development of B. mori, hemolin mRNAs were not detected in the mid-gut until the spinning stage of the last instar larvae, however, dramatically increased beginning the spinning and gradually decreased through the pupal and adult stages. The results of the in situ hybridization were consistent with northern blot analysis. The major transcription site of hemolin is the columnar cells in the mid-gut. It is presumed that the function of hemolin is unique to the physiological process at the post-spinning stage.

        연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업의 성장단계별 성공요인에 관한 탐색적 연구

        본 연구는 연구기관에서 개발한 기술을 기반으로 창업한 연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업의 성장단계 및 단계별 성공요인에 관한 이론 및 사례연구이다. 이론연구를 통해 연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업의 성장단계는 일반 벤처기업의 개념화와 개발기, 상업화기, 성장기, 안정기로 구성되는 4단계 성장단계에 대비되는 단계가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업은 1단계인 개념화와 개발기에는 연구결과로부터 사업 아이디어를 도출, 2단계인 상업화기에는 사업 아이디어로부터 도출된 것을 신규 벤처 프로젝트로 완결,3단계인 성장기에는 신규 프로젝트로부터 스핀오픈 벤처기업을 출범, 4단계인 안정기에는 스핀오프 벤처기업에 의한 경제적 부의 창출 강화라는 성장단계가 있으며 단계 별로 고유한 과제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 사례연구로 정부출연연구소를 모태기관으로 하여 스핀오프로 창업한 벤처기업에 대한 분석을 하였다. 사례분석을 통해 연구기반 스핀오프 벤처기업은 각 단계별 고유한 과제의 해결이 이루어져야 다음 단계로의 성공적인 이행이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 후반부에 본 논문의 시사점과 연구의 한계 및 향후 연구 방향에 대해 제시하였다. Research-based spin-off venture, generally formed to commercialize technology originating from public research institution, could contribute to economic wealth creation and regional development. Although there are some interests in research-based spin-off venture and its success factors across stages of growth, little empirical research was done on research-based spin-off venture's success factors in Korea. The purpose of this research is to investigate research-based spin-off venture's success factors across stages of growth. The methodology used is theoretical and case study. Based on theoretical study, it is found that there are four stages of growth in research-based spin-off ventures such as generating business ideas, finalizing new venture projects, launching spin-off firm, and strengthening the creation of economic value. Then, in order to verify them, a case was analyzed focused on success factors across stages of growth. Additionally, implications and limitations of the result of this study are discussed.

      • Numerical study of a new constructive sequence for movable scaffolding system (MSS) application

        This paper consists in a study of a new contructive sequence of road viaducts with Movable Scaffolding System (MSS) using numerical tools based on finite element method (FEM). Traditional and new sequences are being used in Spain to build viaducts with MSS. The new sequence permits an easier construction of one span per week but implies some other issues related to the need of two prestressing stages per span. In order to improve the efficiency of the new sequence by reducing the number of prestressing stages per span, two solutions are suggested in this study. Results show that the best solution is to introduce the 100% of the prestressing force at the self-supporting core in order to improve the road viaduct construction with movable scaffolding system by reducing execution time without increasing economic costs.

        Photosynthetic and Growth Response of Phalaenopsis Queen Beer ‘Mantefon’ to Variable CO2 Concentrations at Different Vegetative Growth Stages

        Photosynthetic characteristics and growth responses of Phalaenopsis Queen Beer ‘Mantefon’ orchid were determined in plants exposed to variable carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations at 2-, 24-, and 36-weeks age (i.e., corresponding to juvenile, young, and mature vegetative growth stages, respectively). Plants were grown at 400 (control), 800, or 1,600 μmol・mol-1 CO2 for 6 hours during the nighttime for 32 weeks. Phalaenopsis ‘Mantefon’ in 2- and 24-week-old plants grown at 1,600 μmol・mol-1 CO2 had increased leaf number and net CO2 uptake compared with the plants grown at 400 μmol・mol-1 CO2. In 36-week-old of Phalaenopsis ‘Mantefon’, leaf number was significantly greater in plant grown at 800 and 1,600 μmol・mol-1 conditions compared with plants grown at 400 μmol・mol-1 CO2. Leaves that emerged after the start of the CO2 treatment were initially longer in the plants grown at 1,600 μmol・mol-1 CO2 than at 400 μmol·mol-1 C O2, but the final leaf length was shortest in the plants grown at 1,600 μmol・mol-1 CO2 condition. Plants showed crassulancean acid metabolism characteristic of nighttime CO2 uptake regardless plant growth stages. We found that growers may be able to promote leaf growth with increasing leaf number and reducing time to leaf initiation in the 36-week-old (i.e., mature stage) plants with 800 – 1,600 μmol·mol-1 CO2 and 2- and 24-week-old (i.e., juvenile and young stages) plants with 1,600 μmol·mol-1 C O2 for Phalaenopsis ‘Mantefon’.

      • 메커니즘 관점을 적용한 스타트업(Start-up)의 지속적 성장에 관한 연구

        본고는 스타트업의 지속적 성장에 관심을 갖고 연구에 착수하였다. 우선 창업 후 성장통을 극복하는데 영향을 미치는 요인을 도출하는 것에 초점을 맞췄다. 다음으로 조직을 성장으로 이끄는 동인이 있다면 그 동인을 도출하는데 주력하였다. 이를 위해 대학교 창업보육센터, 국책연구소 그리고 테크노파크에서 창업한 기업을 선정하였다. 즉 퓨어시스, 선바이오텍 및 선진이엔지를 대상으로 각각 사례연구를 수행하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 기업 특유의 독점적 우위로서 기술역량을 토대로 기술창업을 단행한 것으로 나타났다. 달리 말해 창업자이자 경영자는 동종분야에 대한 지식과 기술을 축적한 전문성을 바탕으로 창업을 주도하고 경영활동을 수행하였다. 다음으로 선바이오텍처럼 원활한 자본조달이 성장의 밑거름이 된다는 점에서 지배구조의 변화를 필요로 한다. 더욱이 창업보육센터는 교육과 육성이 시급한 반면, 연구소 및 테크노파크 기업은 자금 및 경영지원이 중요한 요인으로 보았다. 결국 기업의 유형과 성장단계에 따라 성공요인이 달라지는 것을 볼 때 맞춤형 지원과 촉진책이 중요할 것이다. 비록 복수기업 사례연구에도 불구하고 일반화 가능성을 제고할 수 있는 후속연구가 요구된다. This study starts from research question concerning the sustainability of start-up or spin-off company. First of all, it focused on elaborating key factors to overcome a kind of ‘death valley’. Next, we tried to identify some other factors to enhance a firm’s rapid growth. For this reason, business incubator, innopolis research institute spin-off and techno-park company were selected as representative sample. That is, this research conducted in-dept case study on Puresys, Kolmar BNH and Sunjin Eng. respectively. According to case analysis, technological resource is recognized as firm-specific advantage to start-up or spin-off firm under an early stage. In addition, chief executive as founder who is specialized in related technical field is basic factor to play key role to launch its own business. Like Kolmar BNH, change of corporate governance will be necessary to sustain rapid growth. Moreover, business incubator calls for education, information access as incubating mechanism, while capital financing, managerial skills like marketing or strategy are required to accelerate. Most but not least, incubating or accelerating programs should be tailored to start-up and spin-off company in terms of location and stage by stage. Even though multiple cases, follow-up research are indispensible to generalize result of present study.
