Rene Magritte의 철학적 사유와 회화작업의 의미

본 연구는 Magritte의 회화작업과 철학적 사유과정에 수반된 심리적 경험이 Magritte 자 신의 정신적 고통의 극복에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지에 대해 미술과 철학의 치유적 기능을 고 찰하여 그 교차점을 살펴보고자 하였다. 따라서 선행연구들에 근거하여 철학을 통한 삶의 근원적인 문제에 대한 성찰이 삶에서 겪는 고통을 이겨낼 수 있게 하는 치유적 기능을 가 지고 있다는 점과 미술활동 과정에서 나타나는 치유적인 기능을 문헌 연구의 방법을 적용 하여 알아보았다. 선행연구에 의해 Magritte의 작품을 Platon의 이데아와 시뮬라크르, Hegel의 변증법, Wittgenstein의 언어의 임의성과 확실성, Foucault의 유사와 상사의 철학 적 담론으로 분석하여 작품 속에서 보이는 Magritte의 사유와 회화작업과정에서의 심리적 경험에 대해 탐색해 보았다. 그 결과 Magritte의 작품에서는 명료한 현실관, 고정관념의 탈 피에서 오는 통찰의 경험, 끊임없는 삶의 본질의 탐구로 이루어낸 삶의 긍정성을 볼 수 있 었다. 이와 더불어 Magritte의 철학적 사유와 회화작업 과정에서는 현실에 대한 탐구를 회 화로 표현하는 창조적 과정에서의 창조성의 경험과 몰입의 경험을 발견할 수 있었다. 이렇 게 Magritte의 철학적 사유와 회화작업과정에서 미술과 철학의 치유적 기능이 유기적으로 연결 되어 있었음을 탐색할 수 있었고 또한 미술과 철학이 서로 보완적 관계를 맺으며 그 효과를 배가 시키고 있었음을 유추해 볼 수 있었다. This study examined the healing function of art and philosophy of Rene Magritte s painting work and the psychological experience accompanying the philosophical thought process on how he overcame Magritte s own mental suffering. Therefore, based on the previous studies, I have found that the reflection on the fundamental problems of life through philosophy has a healing function that can overcome the suffering in life. In addition, I examined the healing function in the art activity process by applying literature research. Magritte s works were analyzed by Plato s Idea and Simulacre, Hegel s dialectic, Wittgenstein s randomness and certainty, Foucault s philosophical discourse on resemblance and similitude, I tried to explore Magritte s thoughts and psychological experiences in the process of painting. As a result, in Magritte s work, we could see the affirmation of life made by the clarity of reality, the experience of insight from the stereotype, and the quest for the essence of life constantly. In addition, in Magritte s philosophical thought and painting process, we were able to discover the experience of creativity and immersion in the creative process of expressing inquiry into reality in conversation. In this way, the Magritte s philosophical thinking and process of painting were able to search for organic connection art and philosophy, suggesting that art and philosophy are complementary to each other, thus multiplying the effect.

르네 마그리트 회화의 영향을 받은 포스터 일러스트레이션에 관한 연구

Expressing the true movement of thinking in the state of not being controlled by reason, surrealism originated from automatism, with which one expresses through free association problems like frustration, confliction, and anxiety etc. that he is undergoing. This is connected to Depaysment, which is given birth in the process of elaborating automatism more ingenuously and more efficiently. Through surrealistic paintings that show illogical parallelism between routine objects and images, Rene Magritte has led Depaysment as such to go beyond the world of external reality and enter into the surreal world, which is the world of absolute reality, or into what he has said to be the world of `mystery.` Surrealism has had such great influence on entire arts that we can meet it even currently in various forms, of which the poster illustration is the most frequently encountered field with surrealistic techniques. This paper analyzes Rene Magritte`Depaysment technique in his surrealistic paintings and has focused on it`s Image combination method. Thus, we can notice that Rene has presented the method of visualizing internal and mental things by using expression techniques of Depaysment. Furthermore, I hope that this paper would be helpful to the development of idea creation in poster illustration .

데페이즈망 회화기법을 응용한 바디아트 일러스트레이션 -르네 마그리트 작품을 중심으로-

Depaysement, which brought new stimulation and change to modern figurative art, is one of the many techniques of surrealism. The purpose of this study was to analyze and apply the characteristics of depaysement based on the visual effects of body expressions shown in the works of Rene Magritte to expand the artistic realm of body art illustration and to develop creative thinking and various techniques of expression. The characteristics of Rene Magritte`s body illustration are about separating certain parts of the body to express isolated worlds, replacing them with foreign objects to create new images, overlapping images to condense the body into one with the background, or creating a paradox by putting another object that cannot coexist with the body in the same canvas with the body. This study used the above results of analysis to discuss and apply the method of depaysement.「Nostalgia」separates a part of the chair that utilizes the body and overlaps it with the background. Then, it combines the hard part of the chair with the body to contrast two foreign objects. It was a preliminary experiment of body art. In 「Androgyny」, which used the artistic techniques of depaysement as the basis to create a valuable artwork, male and female bodies coexist and the parts of the bodies are separated and reconfigured to create a shocking image.「Survival Harmony」brought the foreign objects of nature and machine, which hardly go together, into one canvas. It engenders vagueness and confusion by juxtaposing a new space and improves its value as a work of body art illustration that allows the viewers to experience a new world.

무의식의 표현을 통해 본 살바도르 달리와 르네 마그리트의 작품 비교 분석 연구

본 연구는 살바도르 달리와 르네 마그리트의 작품 비교 분석을 통하여 무의식의 표현원리와 조형 언어를 비교하는 데 목적이 있다. 무의식의 표현을 근간으로 하는 초현실주의 작가인 달 리와 마그리트 작품에는 어린 시절에 억압되어 있던 무의식의 이미지가 반복적으로 표현되고 있다. 그 무의식의 표현을 작품의 내용과 양식, 작가가 살아가는 태도와 관련된 특성으로 비교 해 본 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 주제별로 살펴본 주요 작품들의 표현내용에서, 달리는 대상 에 대하여 공격적인 표현으로 적극성을 보인 반면, 마그리트는 관조하는 방식으로 무의식을 표 현하는 소극적인 면을 보이고 있다. 둘째, 구도와 색, 형태, 공간의 양식적 조형언어 분석에서 달리는 동적인 구도, 고채도의 난색, 곡선의 형태, 근경과 원경만의 강한 조형어법을 사용한 반 면, 마그리트는 정적인 구도, 저채도의 한색, 직선의 형태, 근경과 중경, 원경을 모두 공간표현 에 사용하고 있다. 셋째, 이러한 대비는 삶의 태도에서도 확인할 수 있다. 달리는 자기의 존재 가치와 능력을 과시하는 자기애적 발언과 태도를 보이지만, 마그리트는 우울과 관련된 태도를 보이면서 익명성을 추구하고 있다. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the unconscious principles of expression and the formative language through comparison between Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte. The surrealist painter Dali and Magritte based on unconscious expression, repeatedly portrayed images of repressed unconsciousness in childhood. This study compared these unconscious expressions by characteristics of style and subject of works and related with their attitude to life. The result of this study is as follows. First, there is a difference between Dali having the gumption with aggressive expressions in works and Magritte expressing unconsciousness in a negative and contemplative manner after thematically examining the contents of their main works. Secondly, there is a difference between their formative languages such as color, composition, form, and space. Dali shows the dynamic composition, the saturated colors, the curved lines, and he only strictly uses close-range view and distant view. Otherwise Magritte shows static composition, depressed and cold colors, straight lines, and he uses near, medium and distant landscapes all in spatial expression. Third, this study confirmed a difference between them on their attitude to life. While Dali shows self-loving remarks and attitudes to show off his value and ability, Magritte pursues anonymity by showing an attitude related to depression.

라캉(Lacan)의 정신분석적 관점에서 본 르네 마그리트 (Rene Magritte)의 강박증적 회화 작품연구

본 연구는 라캉의 정신분석 이론을 적용하여 르네 마그리트의 작품에서 나타난 강박증적 신경증 이론을 중심으로 해석하였으며, 예술치료 관점에서 치유적 의미를 고찰하였다. 첫째, 라캉의 정신분석학적 진단체계 인 정신병, 신경증, 도착증의 세 가지 심리구조 가운데 신경증 범주에 속한 강박증 심리구조에 관하여 살펴보 았으며, 타자의 욕망과 존재를 인정하지 않고 의심하면서 환상을 유지하려는 특성을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 라캉 의 강박증 심리구조 이론을 토대로 르네 마그리트 작품을 분석하였다. 특히 의심하는 팔루스에 의한 불확실 성, 열정과 부인의 양가성을 지니는 성적 억압, 사물화된 대상 a로 표현되는 불가능한 욕망, 모성에 대한 분노에 관한 특성들을 어떻게 승화하는지 고찰하였다. 그리고 소외와 분리, 분열과정에서 나타나는 작가의 주체화 모습과, 이를 대타자의 욕망으로 전환하고 예술작품으로 승화시키는 치유 과정을 살펴보았다. 르네 마그리트의 강박증적 작품들은 자신의 삶에 주체가 되지 못하고 정체성의 혼란을 겪으며 현시대를 살아가는 우리에게도 시사하는 바가 크고, 예술치료에 적용할 수 있는 토대를 제공하는 것에도 큰 의의가 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study was to interpret Rene Magritte's paintings based on Lacanian neurosis and then to consider what therapeutic meaning the obsession of psychoanalytic theory exists from an art therapy perspective. Among the three psychological structures of Lacan's psychoanalytical diagnostic system - psychosis, neurosis, and perversion - we studied the obsessive- compulsive structure belonging to the category of neurosis. The characteristic of this category is maintaining a fantasy by denying the desires and existence of others. We analyzed Rene Magritte's paintings based on Lacan's theory of obsessive-compulsive psychology; primarily observed the process of sublimation in the characteristics of uncertainty represented by the doubtful phallus, sexual repression with the ambivalence of passion and denial, an impossible desire expressed through objectified object a, and anger toward motherhood. We observed the painter, Magritte, in the process of alienation, separation, as well as the breakdown of subjectification, and also the healing process of converting it into others’ desire and subliming it into a work of art. Rene Magritte’s obsessive-compulsive works have considerable implications for those who are undergoing an identity crisis and will also be of great significance in forming the groundwork applicable to art therapy.

르네 마그리트의 아니마(Anima)와 자기(Self)의 원형에 관한 연구

The surrealist artists in the 20th century wanted to express not rational judgement but the unconscious dream or a fantasy world. Rene Magritte ’ s worked as a representative surrealist 따tist also he established his own world and then influenced a various genres in the modern arts such as pop art ,graphic design, movies. This study has intended to analyze the archetype of the anima of female image in Rene Magritte’s paintings with its focus on the analytical psychology method. Finding out the meaning of images of his paintings, this study examined sublimated individual life which turned shock and trauma related his mother' s suicide into a creative artistíc actívítíes. Humanity has universally possessed the anima of female image, which feature is collective and a priori archetype image that appeared to all the men and then the first projection was done to its mother. The archetype is the most universal and radical a various conditions of behavioral type when human was born, they have it. The anima is personified as a psychological tendency of women in the minds of men and it' s the unconscious inner personality as a priori element that men deal with persona The anima of Characteristics is shown to negative and positive anima according to characteristics of experience of mother. Rene Magritte reproduced pain about his mother’s death on the canvas as he was aware of unconscious potential anima and then he got back to his mother he lost. While Healing the bruise because of his mother' death, he wanted to achieve inner integration. Therefore, in the art world of Magritte, his mother' s suicide was expressed to anima which is unconscious archetype symbol and negative anima acted on opposite element also it pursued unity (coniunctio oppositorum) such as the fusion of; intemal and extemal, human and animal, masculinity and femininity, the thing of human and divine and material and spiritual thing. through the negative anima, it achieved sublimation and sought out the life of artist with tendency of self-realization and creative 따ts that is step to his individuation.

현대 건축공간에 나타나는 데페이즈망 특성에 관한 연구

Man has an unconscious desire to free oneself from everyday selves and a strong intellectual desire to see and analyze things in a different perspective. This provided a momentum for architectural design that has long been confined to its limits of modernism of being rational and objective. The ever-changing society that we live in filled with various attempts and pluralistic characteristics shows a complex set of attributes that can hardly be defined by a single term. As society moves towards an uncertain and volatile state, the boundary between literature, philosophy and art has dimmed out and converged. Such tendencies have been observable in recent establishments in architecture in the form of introducing external elements and create an alien and farfetched architectural space. Using the "depaysement" defamiliarization method expressing irrationality and randomness, it is applied in various aspects, sharing the counter-rational structure and features of such architectural space. Hence, it is the purposeof this study to delve into the unique characteristics of depaysement through Magritte"s work which reflects the unique pictorial world built under the influence of surrealism, and discover the Depaysement tendencies in modern architectural space. It is apparent in Modern architecture that, owing to the development in digital technology, it is showing process changes in design and an interfacial Depaysement effect in cyberspace, an interlace of reality and the virtual world. In this study, the focus of analysis was architectural properties such as the program, figure/spatial, material and the objective side, but due to mutual text properties, it is bound to be an overlapping analysis.

현대 실내공간에 나타나는 데페이즈망의 기법에 관한 연구

In modern society human needs which to try new experience are growing up by breaking from the unified daily life. The artists and designers who think this kind of realization of mordern people ideal needs is possible only through overcome the reality are getting interested in surrealism. So surrealism has an effect on various categories in design, also modern indoor design is reflecting to make a new space. By using the unfamiliar theme which pursue to new one, this study is showing the unfamiliar centimental stimulus with irrational and contradictory features by using various ways. Therefore in this study, we are going to talk about the "depaysrment" which is one of the surrealism ways. So through the Rene magritte"s artworks who is representative artist of surrealism, we are going to analyze depaysement"s quality and expression quality of depaysement which is appeared in indoor space.

크로마키 기법으로 제작된 뮤직비디오의 초현실주의 콜라주 양상

이 연구는 르네 마그리트의 여덟 가지 오브제 결합방식을 기반으로 초현실주의 콜라주 양식과 크로마키 기법으로 제작된 뮤직비디오 간의 관련성을 고찰한 연구다. 마그리트의 회화는 일상에 존재하는 평범한 오브제들을 고유영역 밖으로 재배치하고 예상치 못한 결합을 통해 데페이즈망(dépaysement)을 형성함으로써, 외부적 리얼리티 세계를 넘어 절대적 리얼리티 세계인 초현실적 세계를 드러냈다. 이러한 그의 회화 원리는 오늘날 이질적 오브제 간의 결합을 통해 비현실적 이미지를 표현하는 크로마키 기법의 형식 혹은 수사법적 특성과 그 맥락을 함께 하고 있으며, 이러한 마그리트의 스타일은 오늘날 크로마키 기법이 사용된 뮤직비디오상에서 빈번히 목격되고 있다. 본 연구는 마그리트의 미술적 특징을 8가지 오브제 결합방법으로 정리한 수지 개블릭(Suzi Gablik)의 분류법을 바탕으로 현재 제작되고 있는 뮤직비디오 사례들을 분석하였으며, 그 결과 현대 뮤직비디오에서 단순히 그의 회화적 특성을 차용 혹은 외형적 모방을 하는 것을 넘어 또 다른 하나의 영상언어로써 확장 및 적용되어 효과적인 창작 장치로 되살아나고 있다는 점을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫 번째 정지 이미지 내에서의 오브제 결합법과 뮤직비디오상의 결합법이 서로 상이한 목적성을 띠고 있었으며, 두 번째는 뮤직비디오에서 활용된 오브제 결합법이 단일 기법의 성격뿐만 아니라, 다른 기법의 성질과 중첩되어 사용되었다는 점이다. 세 번째는 결합하는 오브제의 확장 및 다양성을 들 수 있다. 본 연구는 크로마키가 사용된 뮤직비디오에 나타나는 초현실주의 콜라주 양상 분석을 통해, 그것의 영향과 의의 그리고 상관성을 분석함으로써 향후 뮤직비디오 제작자들의 표현기법 개발에 영감을 주며 표현 양식의 다양화에 기여할 것이다. This study examines the contemporary music video as a subject that has been expanded from the previous research that claimed the relevant between Rene Magritte’s paintings and the printed advertisement based on the eight kinds of Magritte’s ‘objet combination’ methods. René Magritte, Who is representative painter in surrealism revealed the surreal world which is beyond the literal reality by relocating an object from its own belonging and trying to combine unexpected objets through his paintings. These days, the principle of his painting is interpreted as a common context with formality or rhetoric of chroma key techniques. And those techniques are shown in music video which includes the chroma key technique frequently. This study analyzed over 100 cases of music videos based on Suzi Gablik’s classification which has categorized the artistic features of Magritte in 8 kinds of objet combination methods. As the result, the music videos in using objet combination method not only imitate Surrealism as a film language, but also surpass its configuration. First of all, objet combination method of static image and moving images in music video is used for the different purpose. Secondly, objet combination methods in Music video was overlapped with other methods. Finally, the object which is combined is expanded and diversified. This study that analyzes the influence of surrealism collage in contemporary music videos, would be helpful to the production of creative music video by giving them inspiration and more expressive motives.

엘리자베스 비숍의 시에 나타난 “일상생활의 초현실주의”와 그로테스크 이미지

From her early poetry in the 1930s, Elizabeth Bishop has invariably revealed her interest in surrealism in literature and art. Most significantly, the poet aspires to create the “surrealism of everyday life” in her poems in contrast with orthodox surrealism led by a French poet Andre Breton. Fascinated by the paintings of Giorgio De Chirico, a precursor of Rene Magritte, Bishop develops her own unique style of “surrealism of everyday life.” Her early poems blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy instead of inquiring into the realm of dreams and the unconscious. Transcending the bounds of genres and media, Bishop’s “surrealism of everyday life” shows remarkable similarities with Magritte’s surrealist aesthetics. In her poems, as in Magritte’s paintings, Bishop shows a new world which is not capable of seeing from a stereotypical perspective. Unlike the orthodox surrealists, both Bishop and Magritte represent the grotesque images which provoke the feelings of strangeness, mystery, uncanniness as well as laughter. Bishop keeps developing the grotesque images of “surrealism of everyday life” by emphasizing the “uncertainty” which she regards as a catalyst of exhilaration in everyday life. In her late poem “Rainy Season; Sub-Tropics,” Bishop minutely describes the grotesque animals with disproportionate freakish bodies like “Giant Toad” and “Giant Snail.” Through these animals’ humorous self-mocking monologues, Bishop creates a mysterious and fantastic world hidden beneath our everyday life.
