      • 오디와 누에 섭취가 rats의 저항성 운동에 따른 근육 증가에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of supplementation of mulberry powder, mulberry extract and silkworm powder during the 8 weeks of resistance exercise on muscle increase of rats. Fifty males, Sprague-Dawley rat, were randomly divided into 5 groups: CON (control group, n = 10), REG (resistance exercise group, n = 10), MP REG (mulberry powder intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10), ME REG (mulberry extract intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10) and SP REG (silkworm powder intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10). After climbing the ladder without weights during the 1 week of adaptation period, the rats in the resistance exercise group were trained to climb a 0.98-m vertical (80 degree incline) ladder with weights in their tail during 7 weeks (10 times each day, 2 days per week). After exercise, the skeletal muscle was extracted from the flexor hallucis longus. The absolute weight of skeletal muscle was measured by the electronic balance and the relative weight of skeletal muscle about the weight was calculated. The strength and density of legs muscle were analyzed by the computed tomography scan. After 8 weeks of resistance exercise, the absolute weight of skeletal muscle wasn`t significant, but it increased in MP REG 8%, ME REG 8% and SP REG 10% compared to REG. The relative weight of skeletal muscle increased significantly in SP REG compared to REG (p < 0.05). Additionally, there was a significant increase of density and strength of the forelegs in SP REG compared to CON (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant increase of density and strength of the hind legs. In conclusion, regular resistance exercise made rats muscle increase and there was more muscle increase effected by providing silkworm.

        The Strategy for the Development of Bio-Resources Utilizing Sericultural Products and Insects

        Experiments related to the field of sericulture started in the years 1900, in Korea. The sericultural experimental station in Korea was first organized among agricultural fields in Korea, indicating that sericulture in Korea was regarded as an important field of agriculture. Sericulture has been devoted to a great deal for the improvement of Korean economy during the past 100 years even under the coarse social circumstances caused particularly by the Korean War, However, the traditional Korean sericulture, aimed to produce silk yarn, was weakened, because of several reasons such as diminishment in silk consumption, increased labor charge in Korea, and so on. After this difficulty time, the Korean sericulture was revolutionized by shifting into functional sericulture from 1995, and the Korean sericulture now plays an important role for the improvement of human health. Mulberry tree, silkworm, and silk have a boundless potential to be developed as resources. We expect the know-how obtained through silkworm research would expand to the other insect research too. Thus, an area of entomological industry is hoped to prosper owing to insect research as well as sericulture. Mulberry tree is known to possess many bio-active substances, so it can be utilized as a resource for substitute medicine and a raw material for the functional food. In addition, an invention of genetically engineered mulberry variety, which will produce more bioactive substances, is expected. Silkworm is one of the most extensively studied insect organisms on the genome so far, Thus, silkworm is expected to be an "insect bio-factory", enabling mass-production of useful proteins by transformation, in which useful foreign genes are assimilated into silkworm. Silk can be transformed into several phases, because it possesses useful functional groups, which are sensitive to chemical reaction. Also, because silk fibrin itself is protein, it has a superior applicability as tissue membrane. Due to this usefulness, many researchers are now working on the silk as food, cosmetic, medical resource, and bioengineering resource, and even an expanded application is expected using silk in the future. Until now, the researches on insects were largely focused on the prevention of the damage caused by pest, instead of a beneficial aspect. However, insects are thought to be the fourth natural resource in the world, possessing unlimited potential as world resources in the near future. Therefore, our entomological research effort should be focused on the subject with potential for industrialization. Such subject includes selecting the insect species useful for environmental evaluation, construction of environment-friendly agricultural ecosystem, pollen mediation, pet, and advanced bio-resources.

        Biological Control of Pests of Non-Mulberry Silkworms and Its Host Plants in India

        The protection of silkworm and its host plants from various kinds of pests parasite and predator is a chronic problem in sericulture. Silkworms and its primary food plants are heavily damaged by large number of pest. The major pests of primary tasar food plants (Terminalia arjuna and Terminalia tomentosa) are the gall insect (Trioza fletcheri minor). Various species of aphids (Eutrichosiphum sp.) have been recorded to damage oak tasar food plants whereas muga silkworm host plants (Machilus bombycina and Litsaea polyantha) are generally attacked by stem bores (Zeuzera multistrigata). Castor (Ricinus communis) is one of the primary host plant of eri silkworm and extensive damage is caused by the castor white fly (Trialeurodes ricini). Insects pests are major enemies of silkworms. Parasites (Blepharipa zebina, Exorista bombycis, Apateles glomeratus), predators (Canthecona furcellata, Sycanus collaris, Hierodulla bipapilla), wasps (Vespa orientalix) and ants (Oecophylla smargdina) continues to cause damage to silk industry. It is estimated that the losses due to parasites and predators are to an extent of 15-20 percent and varies from crop to crop. The complexities in the behaviour and life cycle of pest population existing in semi ecosystem warrant a special attention for their effective management specially in changing scenario for our modern sericulture. Though use of synthetic insecticides has provided us with effective control of almost all major pests and predators, yet their undesirable side effects limit their continued use. Biological control is one of the most important method which can be used to control the pests, parasites and predators population in sericulture. Various potential parasitoids, which can be utilized as an agent of biological control in sericulture have been screened. The natural enemies of the uzi fly (E. bombycis and B. zebina ) are already present in the nature. Nesolynx thymus, Trichria sp., Splangia endius, Dirhinus sp., Trichopria sp., Trichomalopsis apanteloctena and Pediobius sp. are the major parasitoids effective against uzi fly pupa. The scelionid Psix striaticeps and Trissolcus sp. are the Potential egg Parasitoids against stink bug (Canthecona furcellata). Various other native natural potential parasitoids have been screened and suitable strategies have been developed to check the population of pest insect in sericulture.

        Feed conversion efficiency contributes directly or indirectly on the cost benefit ratio of silkworm rearing and is considered to be an important physiological criterion for evaluating the superiority of silkworm breeds/hybrids. Food intake, assimilation and conversion of indigenous as well as exotic silkworm races are well studied by many researchers. In this review, an attempt has been made to consolidate works on feed conversion aspects of indigenous and exotic silkworm races. The paper also deals with the effect of various factors viz., nutritional, environmental and feeding on food assimilation and conversion parameters of mulberry silkworm.

        조선시대 궁원 내 친잠(親蠶)문화의 배경과 공간적 특징

        본 연구는 조선시대 궁궐 내에서 일어났던 친잠문화의 배경과 공간적 특징에 대한 탐구하는 것이 목적이다. 조선은 유교적 중농주의 국가로서 국초부터 농업 못지않게 양잠업 장려에 열의를 보여 양잠 생산성을 극대화하기 위한 다양한 노력을 진행해 왔다. 그러한 노력의 일면으로 조선 왕실은 궁궐 내에서 친잠활동을 하게 되었다. 조선은 초기 태조 연간부터 궁원 곳곳에 뽕나무를 심었으며, 세조는 동궁(東宮) 근처에 잠실(蠶室)을 설치하여 세자를 비롯한 궁중 사람들에게 양잠의 중요성을 수시로 알게 했다. 성종 연간에는 조선 최초로 창경궁 후원에 채상단을 만들어 친잠례를 거행하였고, 이후 채상단은 위치를 달리하며 광해군 때까지 유지되었다. 그 후 영조 연간에는 경복궁에 채상단과 정해친잠비(丁亥親蠶碑)를 건립하였는데, 이는 경복궁 유지에 대한 영조의 애착과 양잠의 권면에 대한 적극적 의지의 산물이었다. 경복궁 유지에서 터가 고르고 뽕나무를 심기 적합한 동편이 선택되어 채상단을 축조했으리라 가늠해 볼 수 있는데, 이 장소는 세종 연간 잠실이 있던 장소이기도 하다. This study was carried out to investigate the backgrounds and spatial characteristics of the sericulture in the rear garden of the palace in Joseon Dynasty. Joseon Dynasty made the various efforts not only to enhance the promotion of agriculture but also sericulture since the main industry of Joseon Dynasty was farming. At the very beginning, Joseon Dynasty planted mulberry trees and built a silkworm-raising room(蠶室) around the Donggung(東宮). Then, King Sungjong(成宗) made Chaesangdan(採桑壇) in Changgyeong Palace and performed Chinzamryae(親蠶禮). The location of Chaesangdan varied as time goes on until the king Gwanghaegun(光海君). Lastly, King Yeongjo(英祖) made Chaesangdan and Junghaechinzambi(丁亥親蠶碑) in Gyeongbok Palace. Yeongjo(英祖) showed a strong attachment to Gyeongbok Palace and actively encouraged the sericulture. Chaesangdan was built in the east side of the palace which was appropriate for planting mulberry trees. Furthermore, a silkworm-raising room was located in this place at the era of King Sejong(世宗).

        오디용 뽕나무 시설재배 수형별 뽕잎생산량과 누에 사육량 분석

        This study was considered chances of additional income, if farmers raised silkworms in unused mulberry leaves, after harvesting mulberry, investigated yields of mulberry leaves in vinyl-house and optimal amount in raised silkworms, First, the results was investigated productions of mulberry leaves in the mulberry tree-shape of vinyl-house, T-shape harvested 7.07 kg, Y-shape was 6.55 kg, in comparison with convention of it was harvested 4.75 kg mulberry leaves/1 mulberry tree, was harvested 49%, 38% more each. Also, yields of mulberry leaves was used 302 kg when was raised 1box of silkworms in the mulberry tree-shape of vinyl-house. In other hand, yields of raising silkworms was analysed in the mulberry tree-shapes of vinyl-house, mulberry leaves of 1,000 ㎡ vinyl-house mulberry tree was raised average of 3.74 boxs silkworms, in the concrete conventional-shape was 3.24 boxs, T-shape did 4.17 boxs and Y-shape was 3.83 boxs, Consequently, if the farmers of 1,000 ㎡ vinyl-house mulberry tree raised silkworms with unused mulberry leaves, could get 1~1.2 million won additionally.

        대사증후군 개선을 위한 뽕잎, 오디, 누에 분말의 혼합 비율 최적화

        Objectives: The aim of this study was optimized mixing ratio of mulberry leaf, mulberry fruit, and silkworm for amelioration of the metabolic syndrome by using response surface method (RSM). Methods: Antioxidant, antidiabetic and antihypertensive activities of fifteen mixed powder of mulberry leaf, mulberry fruit, and silkworm by RSM were measured as indicators of metabolic syndrome. Results: The optimal mixing ratio of mulberry leaves, mulberry fruits, and silkworm with the greatest antioxidant, antidiabetic and antihypertensive activities was as follows: 2.5890 of mulberry leaf (A), 0.1222 of mulberry fruit (B), 2.9999 of silkworm (C). At this time, it was predicted that the total polyphenol content was estimated to be 185.51 tannic acid equivalent mg/g, 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhy drazyl radical scavenging activity 84.77%, 1-deoxynojirimycin content 415.66 mg/100 g, α-glucosidase inhibitory activity 64.31%, γ-aminobutyric acid content 267.77 mg/100 g, potassium content 1,899.11 mg/100 g, and angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitory activity was estimated to be 73.78%. Conclusions: It was concluded that the significant effect of the mulberry leaf, mulberry fruit, and silkworm on the metabolic syndrome-related biological activity indices (antioxidant activity, antidiabetic activity and antihypertensive activity) was as follows: 2.5890 of mulberry leaf (A), 0.1222 of mulberry fruit (B), 2.9999 of silkworm (C).

      • 오디 생산용 뽕나무 품종별 뽕잎 생산량 및 적정 누에 사육량

        오디 생산용 뽕나무 품종별 뽕잎 생산량과 누에 발육특성을 조사하고, 적정 누에 사육량 및 생산량을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 오디 뽕나무 품종별 생육특성은 누에 사육 품종인 청일과 비교하여 과상 2호와 수향에서 가지 및 새순과 잎의 생육이 우수하였고, 대심은 새순 수는 많지만, 가지 수가 적고, 새순길이가 짧았으며, 엽장과 엽폭은 청일과 비슷하였다. 2. 오디 수확 후 품종별 뽕잎 생산량은 청일에 비하여 뽕잎 수는 적었지만, 과상 2호와 수향은 뽕잎이 커서 청일보다 뽕잎무게는 훨씬 많았다. 대심은 뽕잎수도 적고, 뽕잎무게도 가장 적었으며, 식재주수로 환산한 10a당 뽕잎무게는 청일에서 1,095 kg/10a로 가장 많았고, 과상 2호 521 kg/10a, 수향 189 kg/10a, 대심 73 kg/10a이었다. 3. 오디 뽕나무 품종별 뽕잎 무기성분은 누에사육용 품종인 청일보다 오디생산용 품종에서 질소함량과 인, 칼륨, 칼슘의 성분함량이 높았다. 4. 오디 뽕나무 품종별로 누에 섭식량은 과상 2호와 수향에서 청일보다는 약간 많았고, 섭식비율은 수향이 66.2%로 약간 높았으며, 유충발육기간은 21일 정도로 차이가 없었지만, 5령 3일 유충무게는 청일 1.9g/마리에 비해 과상 2호 2.07 g/마리, 수향 2.11g/마리, 대심 2.03g/마리로 오디 생산용 뽕나무에서 무거웠다. 5. 품종별 누에 사육기간 동안 감잠비율은 4품종 모두 3령부터 5령까지 영기가 클수록 유충사망률이 높았고, 품종별로는 과상 2호가 14.6%, 수향 13.3%, 대심 13.9%, 청일 12.6%였다. 감잠비율을 고려한 5령3일 유충의 생산량은 누에 한 상자당 과상 2호 35.4 kg, 수향 36.6 kg, 대심 35.0 kg, 청일 33.6 kg이였다. 6. 뽕잎 생산량에 따른 누에 사육 가능량은 10a당 과상 2호 3.4상자, 수향 1.3상자, 대심 0.5상자, 청일 8.7상 자일 것으로 추정되었다. This study was carried out to develop the silkworm rearing technique in unused mulberry leaves after harvesting mulberry fruit. The growth of Gwasang No. 2 and Suhyang was very good compared to control cultivar Chungil in leaves size and new branch growth, but new branch and leaves of Daeshim was similar or small to control cultivar Chungil. The number of leaves of Gwasang No. 2 and Suhyang was lower than Chungil, but weight of leaves per tree was heavyer than Chungil. Mulberry leaf yield was Gwasang No. 2 521 kg/10a, Suhyang 189 kg/10a, Daeshim 73 kg/10a, Chungil 1,095 kg/10a. Content of mineral element of all three mulberry cultivars leaf for mulberry fruit production was higher than Chungil in N, P, K, Ca etc. Feeding quantity of silkworm of Gwasang No. 2 and Suhyang was much more than Chungil. Feeding quantity was highest at Suhyang in 96 kg/box. Growth duration of silkworm larvae was not different in all four mulberry culivars but weight of silkworms (5th instar 3rd day) was heavy at Gwasang No. 2 (2.07 g/head) and Suhyang (2.11 g/head) compared to control cultivar Chungil (1.92 g/head). Mortality of silkworms was 14.6% (Gwasang No. 2), 13.3% (Suhyang), 13.9% (Daesim), 12.6% (Chungil) and than higher at elder instar stage. The production amount of silkworm (5th instar 3rd day) was 35.4 kg/box (Gwasang No. 2), 36.6 kg/box (Suhyang), 35.0 kg/box (Daeshim), 33.6 kg/ box (Chungil). Amount of possible rearing silkworms was estimated 3.4box/10 a (Gwasang No. 2), 1.3box/10a (Suhyang), 0.5box/10a (Daeshim), 8.7box/10a (Chungil).
