        The Effects of Visual Biofeedback Balance Training on Functional Ability in Children with Cerebral Palsy: A Pilot Study

        PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of balance training on a three-dimensional balance trainer that provides the up-and-down vertical movement of the knee jointand left-and-right horizontal movement, along with visual feedback on the functional ability of children with spastic cerebral palsy (CPs). METHODS: 8 CPs participated in this study. The experiment was implemented for 40 minutes, three times a week for a total of six weeks. The subjects received general physiotherapy for 15 minutes in each session focused on balance and walking, as based on the neuro-developmental treatment theory. Balance training was performed for 20 minutes on a three-dimensional balance trainer where knee joint movement providing visual feedback is applied. The evaluations were conducted before and after the test, and posture sway was measured using 10 Meter Walking Test (10MWT), Timed Up & Go Test (TUG), and the Good Balance System to evaluate the functional ability and balance of the subjects. RESULTS: 10MWT was not statistically significant (p>.05). On the contrary, TUG and postural sway indicate static balance showed a statistically significant decrease (p<.05). In a static balance test using the Good Balance System, the average moving speedstatistically significantly decreased in the AP and ML directions (p<.05), and the mean velocity moment also significantly decreased (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These findings suggested that balance training using the three-dimensional balance trainer, with the features of visual feedback and up-and-down knee joint movement effects on increasing dynamic and static balance.

        Effect of Muscle Taping and Joint Taping on Static and Dynamic Balance in Normal Adults with Chronic Ankle Instability

        Purpose : This study was conducted to investigate the effect of muscle taping and joint taping on static and dynamic balance in normal adults with chronic ankle instability. Methods : The subjects of this study were 32 people who met the inclusion criteria. This cross-sectional study was conducted using the Kinesio tape, an elastic tape, was used. Subjects were randomized to exclude the effect of sequence, and no taping, joint taping, and muscle taping were applied as taping interventions. One-leg standing test and a Functional reach test were conducted to measure static balance, and Y-balance test was conducted to measure dynamic balance. One way repeated ANOVA was performed to investigate the difference in balance ability according to the taping intervention. If there was a significant difference, a post-hoc was performed using the Bonferroni method. Results : In the case of static balance, joint taping showed more significant results than did no taping and muscle taping (p<.05), and muscle taping showed more significant results than did no taping (p<.05). In the case of dynamic balance, muscle taping showed significantly larger results than did no taping and joint taping (p<.05) and joint taping showed significantly larger results than did no taping (p<.05). Conclusion : This study found that mechanical stimulation of muscles and joint compression by elastic taping increased ankle stability and improved static and dynamic balance. In particular, for static balance, joint taping was more effective than muscle taping, and for dynamic balance, muscle taping was more effective than joint taping. Applying the appropriate taping method to individual subjects has the advantage of maximizing the therapeutic effect for the recovery of balance ability. Similarly, the application of various tapings to subjects with ankle instability will have a positive effect on functional improvement.

        시지각적 되먹임 훈련이 뇌졸중 환자의 동적자세 균형에 미치는 영향

        This study is aimed to compare the effect of visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance training and conventional sitting balance training using Balance Master on stroke patients with that of program in order to analyze the effect it has on dynamic postural balance. The subjects are twenty-four stroke patients who are receiving physical therapy in Ilsan Paik Hospital and can maintain sitting posture by themselves. These patients were divided to control group and experimental group randomly. In order to compare to control and experimental group before and after the balance training, they were tested with Mann-Whitney U test and in order to compared the changes before and after the balance training, they were tested with Wilcoxon signed-ranks test. The results are as follows: we measured the ability of dynamic posture balance control with limit of stability(LOS) test and rhythmic weight shift test. There was an increasing improvement in the ability of dynamic posture balance control of the experimental group that had visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance control training using the Balance Master(p<0.05, p<0.01). According to the results from above, compared to conventional sitting balance training programs, visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance control training using the Balance Master is considered to be a more valuable therapy in balance control improvement and physical function improvement. It is considered that if the weak points are made up, the training with Balance Master will give help to stroke patients and to patients with balance control disabilities and will further more contribute to successful rehabilitation therapy.

        치료면의 질이 편마비환자의 균형에 미치는 효과

        A decrease in the ability to maintain static and dynamic balance after stroke could be related to the inability to select reliable sensory information in producing relative motor action needed to maintain postural stability. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of two different types of surface conditions on the balancing ability of subjects with stroke. Eighteen hemiparetic subjects were assigned to an experimental and control group participating in a six-week rehabilitative therapeutic exercise program focusing on balance and mobility. Exercises were performed 3 to 5 times per week in a stable surface condition by the control group, and in an unstable surface condition by the experimental group. Pre- and post test assessments involved the measurement of the static balance and dynamic balance, respectively by 7-item Berg Balance Scale-3P and by Pro-3 Balance System. Results showed that under the unstable surface condition, static balance in the experimental group showed more improvement than that of the control group.(Statistically, not very significant.) All the aspects of dynamic balance and mediolateral sway(balance) improved significantly than those of the control group. However, there were no significant differences between two groups. Overall, it can be concluded that under the unstable surface condition, the rehabilitative therapeutic exercise programs are effective in improving the dynamic balance of stroke subjects. The results suggest that the adaptation of the unstable surface in the rehabilitative therapeutic exercises could be effective for the patients with hemiplegia in balance. Further studies are needed to confirm the effectiveness of the unstable surface on improving balance and postural stability of hemiplegics.

        일가정 양립제도와 여성근로자의 지각이 출산에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        심각한 저출산 문제가 사회 문제로 대두되고 있는 현실에서 이를 해결하기 위한 정책적 노력의 일환으로 여성의 일과 가정 영역의 양립을 지원하기 위한 제도들이 기업에 도입되어 운용이 되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 과연 이 제도들이 저출산이라는 사회적 현상을 극복하는데 기여하는지를 경영학적 관점에서 실증분석 하는 것이다. 즉, 본 연구에서는 일가정 양립 지원 제도의 궁극적인 목적임에도 그동안 경영학에서 다루지 못했던 결과 변수인 ‘출산’에 미치는 일가정 양립 지원 제도들의 효과(개별 제도와 제도의 합의 영향력)를 분석하였다. 또한 여성 근로자들의 일가정 양립 지각이 출산에 미치는 영향과 일가정 양립 지각의 영향요인에 대한 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 위해 한국여성정책연구원이 실시한 [여성인력패널조사: 여성관리자 패널조사(KWMP: Korean Women Manager Panel)]의 2008년도 자료 중 인사담당자와 근로자본인 설문지를 이용하여 기혼 여성 1,101명의 자료를 바탕으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 기업의 일가정 양립 지원 제도 도입 여부는 출산에 크게 영향을 주지 못한 반면(개별 제도 중 육아기근로시간단축제가 도입율이 미미함에도 출산에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 제도의 합의 효과는 출산율에 유의한 결과를 보이지 못했다) 개인이 지각하는 일가정 양립은 출산에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 개인이 일가정 양립을 지각하는데 있어 일가정 양립 지원제도가 긍정적인 영향을 주고 있음에는 분명하나, 제도의 영향 외에 최고경영자의 철학, 조직지원분위기, 상사의 지원, 인사관리의 투명성과 같은 사회적 맥락의 중요함이 강조되었다. 또한 분석 결과를 토대로 일가정 양립을 위한 정부의 정책적 실효성 제고 및 기업에서의 역할 정립을 위한 시사점을 제시하였다. 기업 내 제도 활용의 현실적 어려움을 극복하기 위한 법규정 보완과 같은 정부의 역할과, 일가정 양립에 대한 기업 인식의 변화 필요성과 개인이 일가정 양립을 지각할 수 있는 지원적 환경 조성과 관련한 기업의 역할에 대한 논의를 결론에서 제시하였다. This research aims to make an empirical analysis on whether or not these institutions contribute to overcome the social phenomenon low birth rate from a viewpoint of business management. That is to say, this research analyzed the effects of work-family balance institutions on the outcome ""childbirth"" (i.e. the influence of individual institution and the influence of the sum of institutions) which has not been taken up by business management although it is the final aim of the work-family balance institutions. In addition, this research analyzed not only the influence of female workers’ work-family balance perception on childbirth but also influence factors of work-family balance perception. To do this, we adopted as a scope the data of 1,101 married female workers by using questionnaires of human resources manager and these workers among the 2008’s data of ""KWMP (Korean Women Panel)"" done by Korean Women’s Development Institute. The results of analysis are as follows. The work-family balance perceived by the individual exerted a positive influence on childbirth whereas work-family balance supporting institutions introduced by companies did not influence childbirth greatly (the shorter-time working system for infant care had a significant influence on childbirth although the rate of its introduction was small, but the influence of the sum of those institutions did not show a significant influence on childbirth). These work-family balance institutions have a surely positive influence on the individual’s perception of work-family balance, and the importance of social contexts (e.g. the CEO’s philosophy, the atmosphere of organization support, the superior’s support, transparency in personnel management, etc.) were stressed in addition to the influences of institutions on childbirth. Based on the above results of analysis, this research proposed implications not only of improvement in the government’s policy effectiveness for work-family balance but also of the establishment of the role of companies. In conclusion, this research suggested the following three points. First, it discussed the roles of the government such as supplementation of the law for overcoming the realistic difficulty of using the institution in the company. Second, it discussed the necessity of the change of the company’s realization about work-family balance. Finally, it discussed the role of companies regarding the creation of supporting environment.

        원화환율의 변화가 국내 서비스무역수지에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of the Korean won exchange rates on the Korean service trade balance. Empirical investigation shows that the USD/KRW and JPY/KRW exchange rates have main effects on the Korean service trade balance. Service balance credit and debit(receipts and payments) are negatively related with the USD/KRW and positively related with the JPY/KRW exchange rate. The depreciation of the USD/KRW and JPY/KRW exchange rates leads to the improvement of the service trade balance. Transportation balance is affected by the USD/KRW, JPY/KRW, and CNY/KRW exchange rates, travel balance by the USD/KRW exchange rate, and other business sevice balance by the USD/KRW and JPY/KRW exchange rates. 본 논문의 연구목적은 원화환율의 변화가 국내 서비스무역수지에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면 우리나라의 서비스수지는 주로 원/달러, 원/엔 환율에 의해서 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 서비스수지 수입 및 지급은 원/달러 환율과는 부의 관계를, 원/엔 환율과는 정의 관계를 갖는다. 원/달러, 원/엔 환율이 동시에 절하될 경우 서비스수지는 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 운수수지는 원/달러, 원/엔, 그리고 원/위안 환율, 여행수지는 원/달러 환율, 그리고 사업서비스수지는 원/달러, 원/엔 환율에 의해서 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.

        The Effect of Work Life Balance on Organizational Commitment and Turnover Intention

        The purpose of the current study is to examine the relationship between work life balance, organizational commitment (OC) and turnover intention (TIN) with the moderating effect of perceived organizational support.More specifically, this study analyzes how maintaining work life balance affects OC and employee’s intention to leave, and explore if POS moderates the relationship between work life balance, OC and TIN. Ultimately, this study aims to stress the importance of work life balance and provide guidelines and insights to human resources professionals in order for them to enhance employee’s perceptions of organizational support, strengthen OC and lower turnover rate. Results showed that the work-leisure and work-growth balance were found to be positively related to affective commitment (AC). The work-family balance was found to be positively related to continuance commitment (CC) and the work-growth balance was found to be positively related to normative commitment (NC). For the effects of the balance between work and life on TIN, TIN was found to be negatively related to both work-family balance and workgrowth balance. Regarding the moderating effects of perceived organizational support (POS) on the relationship between work-life balance and OC, it was found that POS moderated the relationship between work-family balance and OC depending on the type of OC respectively. However, the effects of perceived emotional support on TIN also had no moderating effect. Therefore, this study suggests that human resource and training personnel need to provide institutional and emotional support by understanding the importance of maintaining work and life balance of employee to increase employees’productivity and commitment to the organization and decrease turnover rate. The implications of these results for the Effect of Work Life Balance on OC and TIN research and practices are discussed.

        일과 삶의 균형(Work-Life Balance,WLB)이 조직몰입과 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향

        This research addresses the effect of work-life balance on organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. To practically analyze the effectiveness of the work-life balance, such as the work-grow balance, the work-leisure balance, the work-family balance, and the hypothesis were established to demonstrate the relationship among work-life balance, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. A total of 514 pieces of data were analyzed using a structural equation. The results of this study show that the work-growth balance and work-family balance have a significant positive impact on organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. It is appeared that the work-leisure balance does not have significant impact on organizational commitment but negatively impact organizational citizenship behavior. This study analyzed the relationship between work-life balance and organization commitment, organizational citizenship behavior by dividing it into quantitative studies, and specifically identified practical problems regarding work-life balance. Through this process, the study can present the following implications. It is meaningful that this study identified the relationship between work-life balance and organizational performance and how the WLB could affect the organization. Therefore, it is expected that organizational managers will be able to use the work-life balance system as a practical basis for introducing it. 본 연구는 일과 삶의 균형이 조직몰입과 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향을 규명한 것이다. 일과 삶의 균형과의 효과성을 실질적으로 분석하기 위하여 일-성장/ 일-여가/일-가족 간의 균형 요소로 구분하여 연구 모형을 수립하고 가설을 설정하여 일과 삶의 균형과 조직몰입, 조직시민행동과의 관계를 양적 연구를 진행하여 실증하였다. 양적 연구로 포괄적인 산업에서 근무하는 직장인 대상으로 설문조사를 실시, 총 514부의 자료를 대상으로 구조방정식을 이용하여 분석 하였다. 실증분석 결과, 일과 삶의 구성요소 중 일-성장 균형, 일-가정 균형 요소가 조직몰입, 조직시민행동에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 일-여가 균형은 조직몰입에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않으며 조직시민행동에는 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 일과 삶의 균형의 세부요인과 조직몰입, 조직시민행동과의 관계를 분석 하였으며, 일과 삶의 균형에 대한 현실적인 문제에 대해 구체적으로 규명하였다. 본 연구는 일과 삶의 균형과 조직성과에 직접 영향을 미치는 조직몰입, 조직시민행동과의 영향관계를 규명하여, WLB이 어떠한 방식으로 조직에 영향을 미칠 수 있는지에 대하여 실질적으로 연구했다는데 의의가 있다. 따라서 조직 관리자가 일과 삶의 균형 제도 도입시 실무적 기초 자료로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

        특이적 코어·밸런스 복합 트레이닝이 고등학교 야구선수의 균형관련 변인(동적,정적균형)과 구속 변화에 미치는 효과규명

        연구목적 연구의 목적은 특이적으로 고안된 코어운동과 밸런스운동이 복합된 형태의 운동프로그램을 개발하여, 중, 고등학교 야구선수들을 대상으로 균형 관련 변인과 구속 변화에 관하여 분석하고규명하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구방법 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 청소년 야구 선수들을선발하여 4개월간 개발된 운동 프로그램을 적용하여 결과를 얻었다. 결과 정적균형능력의 변화는 운동프로그램 전과 후, 운동집단간의 좌, 우측에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 동적균형능력에대한 집단 간 차이에서도 우측상부, 좌측상부, 우측, 좌측, 하부, 우측하부, 좌측하부 자세에서 통계적유의성을 보였다. 또한 비운동 집단에 비해 운동 참여 집단에서 전체 점수가 유의미하게 향상되는것으로 나타났다. 구속의 변화는 관찰되지 않았다. 결론 특이적으로 고안된 코어 밸런스 복합 트레이닝은 청소년 야구 선수들의 정적 균형 및 동적 균형 능력 향상에 도움이 된다고 할 수 있다 Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze and identify balance-related variables and velocity changes for youth baseball players by developing a specially designed exercise program that combines core and balance exercises. Methods In order to achieve the purpose of this study, youth baseball players were selected, and the results were found by applying an exercise program developed for 4 months. Result As for the change in static balance ability, there was a statistically significant difference in the left and right sides of the exercise group before and after the exercise program. There was a significant improvement in the right, left, lower, lower right, and lower left postures. Even in the difference between the groups for dynamic balance ability, there was statistical significance in the upper right, upper left, right, left, lower, lower right, and lower left postures. A change appeared. In addition, it was found that the overall score was significantly improved in the exercise participation group compared to the non-exercise group. No change in ball speed was observed.
