An enantioselective recognition of D- and L-tryptophan (Trp)-b-cyclodextrin (CD) inclusion complex was performed using electrochemical and FT-Raman spectroscopic analysis. From the electrochemical analysis, the selectivity coefficient (KDL) of b-CD inclusion complexes was found higher than that of the D- and L-Trp in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH=7.0) solution. The percentage of enantioselectivity (I%ee) for peak current of D-Trp-b-CD inclusion complexes was observed higher than that of L-Trp-b-CD inclusion complexes in PBS solution. From Raman spectroscopy, chemical shift difference (D, cm-1) for the C=C stretch, ring vibration, and ring breathing of D-Try-b-CD inclusion complex were observed higher than that of L-Trp-b-CD inclusion complex. The electrochemical and Raman spectroscopic analyses were found very useful for chiral detection of racemic amino acid in the presence of b-CD.

An enantioselective recognition of D- and L-tryptophan (Trp)-b-cyclodextrin (CD) inclusion complex was performed using electrochemical and FT-Raman spectroscopic analysis. From the electrochemical analysis, the selectivity coefficient ($K_{DL}$) of b-CD inclusion complexes was found higher than that of the D- and L-Trp in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH=7.0) solution. The percentage of enantioselectivity ($I_{%{ee}}$) for peak current of D-Trp-b-CD inclusion complexes was observed higher than that of L-Trp-b-CD inclusion complexes in PBS solution. From Raman spectroscopy, chemical shift difference (D, $cm^{-1}$) for the C=C stretch, ring vibration, and ring breathing of D-Try-b-CD inclusion complex were observed higher than that of L-Trp-b-CD inclusion complex. The electrochemical and Raman spectroscopic analyses were found very useful for chiral detection of racemic amino acid in the presence of b-CD.

This study attempted to provide basic data which could be used in improving customer satisfaction and promoting cosmetology-related marketing after investigating customer awareness on cosmetology-specialized multi shops and customer behavior. The study results found the following: first, not all customers prefer cosmetology-specialized multi shops, and customers mostly visit a beauty salon to get hairstyling services. Second, hairstyling is an essential element in constructing a multi shop, and compared to a mono-brand shop, customers expect better services in a multi shop. Third, customers have a positive view of cosmetology-specialized multi shops and prefer multi shops because of convenience. Fourth, the biggest factor influencing a visit to a multi shop is the experience of a previous visit, and it has a positive effect on revisit. Fifth, correlations are found among advantages, motives, information and revisit. Sixth, “advantages” have a significant effect on “motives” and “revisit,” while “revisit” has a significant influence on “advantages” and “motives.” Considering the results above, a cosmetology-specialized multi shop needs to increase customers’ visit and revisit by improving “convenience” and focusing on hairstyling services. In a cosmetology-specialized multi shop, advantages, motives and visiting information had an effect on customers’ visit to the shop. In particular, “convenience” was a factor encouraging customers to visit. Therefore, marketing strategies aimed to improve convenience would be important to attract more customers. As a result, a cycle in which customers are encouraged to visit, and a multi shop attracts them will be formed.

This study aimed to investigate if glycated hemoglobin (HgbA1C) as compared to fasting blood glucose is better for reflecting cardiometabolic risk in non-diabetic Korean women. Fasting glucose, HgbA1C and lipid profiles were measured in non-diabetic women without disease (n = 91). The relationships of fasting glucose or HgbA1C with anthropometric parameters, lipid profiles, and liver and kidney functions were analyzed. Both fasting glucose and HgbA1C were negatively correlated with HDL-cholesterol (r = -0.287, p = 0.006; r = -0.261, p = 0.012), and positively correlated with age (r = 0.202, p = 0.008; r = 0.221, p = 0.035), waist circumference (r = 0.296, p = 0.005; r = 0.304, p = 0.004), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (r = 0.206, p = 0.050; r = 0.225, p = 0.032), aspartate transaminase (AST) (r = 0.237, p = 0.024; r = 0.368, p < 0.0001), alanine transaminase (ALT) (r = 0.296, p = 0.004; r = 0.356, p = 0.001), lipid profiles including triglyceride (r = 0.372, p < 0.001; r = 0.208, p = 0.008), LDL-cholesterol (r = 0.315, p = 0.002; r = 0.373, p < 0.0001) and total cholesterol (r = 0.310, p = 0.003; r = 0.284, p = 0.006). When adjusted for age and body mass index, significant relationships of DBP (r = 0.190, p = 0.049), AST (r = 0.262, p = 0.018), ALT (r = 0.277, p = 0.012), and HDL-cholesterol (r = -0.202, p = 0.049) with HgbA1C were still retained, but those with fasting glucose disappeared. In addition, the adjusted relationships of LDL-cholesterol and total cholesterol with HgbA1C were much greater than those with fasting glucose. These results suggest that glycated hemoglobin may be a better predictor than fasting glucose for cardiometabolic risk in non-diabetic Korean women.

Isolation of SARS-CoV-2 Neutralizing Antibodies from a Human Synthetic Library
Yu Jung KIM,Kyoungjin SONG,Joo Eon LEE,So Ra PARK 한국생물공학회 2021 한국생물공학회 학술대회 Vol.2021 No.10
Since the emergence of the COVID-19 infection in Wuhan, China, in 2019, SARS-CoV-2 has become a pandemic resulting in a tremendous global threat due to its unprecedented rapid spread and its variants. Here, we used phage display to develop human monoclonal antibodies that neutralize SARS-CoV-2. A human synthetic Fab phage display library was panned against the RBD and five Fabs showed neutralizing activities on in vitro assays based on the Fabs’ activities antagonizing the interaction between RBD and ACE2. The five fabs reformatted with IgG were significantly increased their apparent affinity while maintaining non-aggregation properties and thermal stability. Furthermore, two of the mAbs (D12 and C2) significantly showed neutralizing activities on pseudotyped and authentic SARS-CoV-2. Among them, the C2 IgG showed highly neutralizing activity against SARSCoV-2 pseudovirus based variants. Given their desirable properties and neutralizing activities, we anticipate that these human anti-SARS-CoV-2 mAbs would be suitable reagents to be further developed as antibody therapeutics to treat COVID-19, as well as for diagnostics and research tools.
