Late Ordovician provenance and depositional setting in the southwestern Ordos Block, China: constraints from zircon U-Pb geochronology

        Fu Yang,Gang Chen,Yu Kang,Dongmin Ma,Qilin Chen,Tian Tao,Fu Deliang 한국지질과학협의회 2020 Geosciences Journal Vol.24 No.2

The U-Pb ages of single zircon grains contained in the sandstone samples were analyzed by the LA-ICP-MS method, the sediment provenances and geological significance were discussed. The LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating from the sandstones, tuffaceous sandstones and volcanic tuffs of the Pingliang and Zhaolaoyu Formations along the southwestern Ordos Block are used to limit the maximum depositional age and material sources. The results show that: (1) The youngest ages of zircon dating in the three samples are 445 Ma, 444 Ma and 443 Ma, respectively, suggesting that the studied Formations were deposited in the Late Ordovician. (2) The detrital zircon U-Pb age analysis of the sandstones sample from the Pinliang Formation clustered in the 445–477 Ma, 588–1548 Ma and 1612–2496 Ma with the corresponding youngest peak age of 454.5 ± 3.3 Ma. (3) The distribution of zircon U-Pb age in sandstone samples showing that the sedimentary rocks detritus was mainly sourced from the North Qinling-Qilian terranes and the NCC, and has double provenance supply in the north and south. The material source of the tuffaceous sandstones and volcanic tuffs mainly comes from the volcanic and magmatic activity related to the North Qilian-North Qinling Island Arcs.

Electrocatalytic oxygen reduction of three-dimensional carbon fiber-based composites for seawater oxygen-dissolved battery

        Yu Juxin,Ma Li,Duan Tigang,Xin Yonglei,Lv Yanzhuo,Zhang Haibing 한국탄소학회 2022 Carbon Letters Vol.32 No.2

One-step hydrothermal reduction method was used to prepare three-dimensional carbon fiber brush-based graphene–platinum (CFB/Pt–G) composites to improve the electrocatalytic oxygen reduction activity of cathode materials for seawater oxygen-dissolved battery. Characterization results show that the reduced graphene oxide of as-prepared graphene–platinum composite displays the few-layer folded structure. In addition, Pt nanoparticles with the polycrystalline structure dispplay a preferential growth along the crystal plane of (111) and are mainly distributed around the defect cavities of folded graphene. Electrochemical results show that the diffusion-limited current density of CFB/Pt–G composite tested with 1600 rpm/min in 3.5% NaCl solution reaches 5 mA/cm2, while that of CFB/G is only 2.64 mA/cm2. Battery discharge results show that the maximum volume power density of CFB/Pt–G–Mg battery with a stable open voltage of 1.73 V is 81 times as much as the commercial seawater battery SWB1200.

      • Polysaccharide from Polygonatum Inhibits the Proliferation of Prostate Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts Cells

        Han, Shu-Yu,Hu, Ming-Hua,Qi, Guan-Yun,Ma, Chao-Xiong,Wang, Yuan-Yuan,Ma, Fang-Li,Tao, Ning,Qin, Zhi-Hai Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.8

Inhibition of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) may improve the efficacy of cancer therapy. Polysaccharide extracted from polygonatum can selectively inhibit the growth of prostate-CAFs (p<0.001) without inhibiting the growth of normal fibroblasts (NAFs). Polysaccharides from polygonatum stimulate autophagy of prostate-CAFs. 3-methyl-adenine(3-MA) is an autophagy inhibitor. 3-MA was added to prostate-CAFs with polysaccharide from polygonatum to determine whether autophagy plays an important role in the restrained effect. Finally, polysaccharide from polygonatum treatment significantly increased the activation of Beclin-1 and LC3, key autophagy proteins. Polysaccharide from polygonatum stimulates autophagy of prostate-CAFs and inhibits prostate-CAF growth, indicating that a novel anti-cancer strategy involves inhibiting the growth of prostate-CAFs.

Serum leptin, adiponectin and endometrial cancer risk in Chinese women

        Yu Ma,Zhiwei Liu,Yan Zhang,Bingjian Lu 대한부인종양학회 2013 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.24 No.4

Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum concentrations of leptin or adiponectin, and endometrial carcinoma in Chinese women. Methods: We conducted a case-control study of a total of 516 Chinese women to detect the relationships between serum concentrations of leptin or adiponectin, and endometrial carcinoma in Chinese women. The study subject constituted 206 cases of endometrial cancer and 310 normal controls. Results: Patients with endometrial carcinoma had higher serum leptin concentrations than controls (28.8±2.2 ug/L vs. 19.8±1.4 ug/L; p<0.001). The adiponectin levels in patients were lower than in controls with borderline statistical significance (2,330.7±180.5 ug/L vs. 2,583.9±147.2 ug/L; p=0.078). Logistic regression analysis confirmed the associations between leptin or adiponectin, and endometrial carcinoma after adjustment for age, body mass index, fasting insulin, serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (odds ratio for the top tertile vs. the bottom tertile: leptin 2.05; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.28 to 3.29; p<0.001; adiponectin 0.52; 95% CI, 0.32 to 0.83; p<0.001). Conclusion: Increased leptin or decreased adiponectin levels are associated with endometrial carcinoma.

Optimal feedrate planning on a five-axis parametric tool path with global geometric and kinematic constraints

        Ma Hong-Yu,Yuan Chun-Ming,Shen Li-Yong,Gao Xiao-Shan 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.6

The optimal feedrate planning problem for the five-axis parametric tool path remains challenging due to the nonlinear relationships between the joint space and the Cartesian space. We present a novel and complete optimal feedrate planning method for a five-axis parametric tool path by constraining the velocity, acceleration, jerk in the joint space, and the chord error in the Cartesian space. Our method formulates the problem as an optimal control problem, and we propose an iteration control vector parametrization method to compute the optimal solution. Compared with the new development five-axis feedrate planning methods, our solution satisfies “bang-bang” optimal control, and each constraint is strictly under the limits globally. Examples and comparisons with two other methods are demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Accessory head of flexor pollicis longus in Jeju islander cadavers

Yu, Jae Ma,Yoon, Sang Pil,Kim, Jinu Institute for Medical Science 2018 The Journal of Medicine and Life Science Vol.15 No.1

Anterior interosseous nerve palsy is known to occur uncommonly because of its compression by the accessory head of flexor pollicis longus(AHFPL) in the forearm. During routine educational dissection, we found 7 AHFPLs in 12 upper limbs of 6 adults Korean Jeju islander cadavers, which inserted onto flexor pollicis longus. Three AHFPLs of them arose from coronoid process of the ulna, and the others arose independently from the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS). Using the topographical relationship of the anterior interosseous nerve to the AHFPL, all anterior interosseous nerve was crossed the tendinous part of the AHFPL. This study has shown that there are discrepancies in the origin of AHFPL and the location of the anterior interosseous nerve in Koreans, which is supposed to be related to unique genetic pool in Jeju Island.

      • Pretreatment Thrombocytosis as a Prognostic Factor in Women with Gynecologic Malignancies: a Meta-analysis

        Yu, Min,Liu, Lei,Zhang, Bing-Lan,Chen, Qi,Ma, Xue-Lei,Wu, Yu-Ke,Liang, Chun-Shui,Niu, Zhi-Min,Qin, Xin,Niu, Ting Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12

Background: This study was performed to analyze the prognostic implications of pretreatment or preoperative thrombocytosis in women with gynecologic malignancies. Material and Methods: We surveyed 2 medical databases, PubMed and EMBASE, to identified all relevant studies. A total of 14 (n=3,490) that evaluated the link between thrombocytosis and 5-year survival were included. REVMAN version 5.1 was used for our analysis and publication bias was evaluated using the Begg's funnel plot and tested by STATA 11.0. Risk ratios (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) generated by the random effect model were used to assess the strength of any association. Results: 709(20.3%) of the 3,490 patients exhibited thrombocytosis (platelet counts > $400{\times}10^9/L$) at primary diagnosis, and their mortality was 1.62-fold higher compared with the others (RR=1.62, 95%CI=[1.28-2.05], p<0.0001). Thrombocytosis failed to have a stronger effect on the survival of advanced patients of stages III to IV in our study (n=478, RR=1.29, 95% CI=[1.13-1.48], p=0.0003), nor in women with cervical cancer in stage IB (n=1371, RR=1.73, 95% CI=[1.71-2.58], p=0.007). In addition, when adjusted for different carcinoma, it was associated with worse prognosis for all except the ones with vulvar cancer (n=201, RR=0.43, 95% CI=[0.14-1.29], p=0.13). Conclusions: This meta-analysis indicated that thrombocytosis might be associated with a worse prognosis for patients with gynecologic malignancies but without specificity or sensitivity for the ones in advanced stage. When adjusted for different gynecologic malignancies, it showed a significant effect on survival of all except vulvar cancers.

Biophysical effect of lipid modification at palmitoylation site on the structure of Caveolin 3

        Yu-Bin Ma,Dong-Hoon Kang,김명규,김지훈 한국자기공명학회 2019 Journal of the Korean Magnetic Resonance Society Vol.23 No.3

Caveolae are small plasma membrane invaginations that play many roles in signal transduction, endocytosis, mechanoprotection, lipid metabolism. The most important protein in caveolae is the integral membrane protein, caveolin, which is divided into three families such as caveolin 1, caveolin 2, and caveolin 3. Caveolin 1 and 3 are known to incorporate palmitate through linkage to three cysteine residues. Regulation of the protein palmitoylation cycle is important for the cellular processes such as intracellular localization of the target protein, membrane association, conformation, protein-protein interaction, and activity. However, the detailed aspect of individual palmitoylation has not been studied. In the present work, the role of each lipid modification at three cysteines was studied by NMR. Our results suggest that each lipid modification at the natively palmitoylation site has its own roles. For example, lipidations to C106 and C129 are play a role in structural stabilization, however, interestingly, lipid modification to C116 interrupts the structural stabilization.

Synthesis, Structures and Photoluminescent Properties of Two Novel Zinc(II) Compounds Constructed from 5-Sulfoisophthalic Acid

        Yu-Lan Zhu,Xue-Ling Tang,Kui-Rong Ma,Hao Chen,Feng Ma,Lian-Hua Zhao 대한화학회 2010 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.31 No.7

Hydrothermal reaction of zinc(II) salts with 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (NaO3SC6H3-1,3-(COOH)2, NaH2-SIP) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) led to two new compounds, [Zn(phen)3]·2H2SIP·4H2O (1) and [Zn(phen)2(H2O)2]·2H2SIP·2H2O (2). They were characterized by element analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermalgravimetric analysis (TGA),X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both compounds 1-2 represent the first example of Zn/phen/SIP system. The Zn (II) ion in 1 is six-coordinated by six nitrogen atoms from three phen molecules, and the H2SIP‒ ligands engage in the formation of hydrogen bond. The Zn(II) ion in 2 is coordinated by four nitrogen atoms from two phen molecules and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules. Moreover, both 1 and 2 are assembled into 3D supramolecular architectures by hydrogen bonds (O-H···O) and π-π interactions. Solvent water molecules occupying voids of the compounds serve as receptors or donors of the extensive O-H···O hydrogen bonds.
