Collaborative Learning Group Formation with Density Clustering
Mengxiong Zhou,Yanming Ye,Yizhi Ren,Yueshen Xu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.6
The formation of the collaborative learning group is a challenging problem, especially the principle construction and multi-objective optimization. In this paper, we propose an improved density clustering algorithm, and further implement the group formation based on the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm first constructs the distance matrix for learners, and clusters learners into different groups. After the random selection of the initial cluster centers, our algorithm achieves superior clustering result by iteratively adjusting the clustering centers. We conduct sufficient experiments and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm well satisfies our aim, that is, inter-group heterogeneity maximization and intra-group homogeneity maximization.

Characterization of HC58cDNA, a putative cysteine protease from the parasite Haemonchus contortus
Charles I. Muleke,Yan Ruofeng,Xu Lixin,Sun Yanming,Li Xiangrui 대한수의학회 2006 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.7 No.3
Because of the complexity of the cathepsin B-like (CBL) family, an information on the biological and biochemical characteristics of individual CBL genes is lacking. In this study, we investigated the degradative effects of the recombinant HC58 protein isolated from Haemonchus contortus parasites on protein substrates over a broad pH range in vitro. This protein, which hydrolyzed the synthetic peptide substrates Z-FR-AMC and Z-RR-AMC, had characteristics of the cysteine protease class of proteins. In the acidic pH range, the isolated protein actively degraded hemoglobin (Hb), the heavy chain of goat immunoglobulin G, and azocasein. By contrast, it degraded fibrinogen in the alkaline pH range. These activities were strongly inhibited in the presence of the cysteine protease inhibitor E-64. While the protein digested Hb, it did not induce the agglutination of erythrocytes from its natural host. These results suggest that the HC58 protein may play a role in the nutrition of this parasite.

Early Cretaceous saline lacustrine black shales in the Fajiaying Formation were deposited under hothouse conditions and have a complex structure and history of sedimentary evolution. In this study, integrated petrographic and geochemical investigations were utilized to determine the provenance, tectonic setting, and paleoweathering conditions of these shales, therefore revealing their depositional history. Shale in the area under investigation has not been subjected to any post-depositional alteration, mechanical sorting, or recycling, hence its geochemistry has not been affected. The chondrite normalized rare earth elements (REE) pattern of shales displayed typical characteristics, including an enrichment in light REE (LREE), a flat pattern for heavy REE (HREE), and a negative europium (Eu) anomaly. Specific trace element ratios suggested that the sediments were primarily derived from felsic source rocks. Furthermore, there was no discernible shift in the sediment source between the Qiancengya and the Laohuzui sections. The discrimination diagrams of major and trace elements used to understand the tectonic history showed that the majority of the source rocks originated from the active continental margin (ACM) and continental island-arc (CIArc). The bivariate plots and low average values of CIW (chemical index of weathering) and CIA (chemical index of alteration) for the examined shale suggested that chemical weathering in the source terrain under arid conditions was extremely weak. Importantly, with the change of climate from dry-hot to warmhumid, an increase in CIA and CIW was observed which indicated a gradual increase in chemical weathering.

Electromagnetic environment assessment is an important step in the design process of a wireless power transfer (WPT) system to ensure that it complies with electromagnetic radiation standards. Electromagnetic environment assessment usually requires an effective magnetic field analytical model. However, the traditional magnetic field analytical model does not consider the impact of shielding media on the external electromagnetic environment of the WPT system. Therefore, based on subdomain analysis technology in the Cartesian coordinate system, this paper establishes a three-dimensional magnetic field analytical model that comprehensively considers coil parameters, passive shielding media, and active shielding coils. To solve the problem of re-dividing various regions when migrating, a misalignment parameter was introduced in the modeling analysis. In addition, an efficient active shielding coil modeling method is proposed based on electromagnetic theory, which reduces the analytical calculation time of the model. Finally, a 200 W WPT system electromagnetic environment assessment platform that includes both active and passive shielding is built. Under different misalignment and transmission distance conditions, the maximum error of the model calculation and finite element analysis (FEA) is less than 3%, and the maximum error of the model calculation and measurement values is less than 8%. Research results verify the accuracy of the proposed three-dimensional magnetic field analytical model and the effectiveness of the shielding measures. This paper lays a theoretical foundation for the electromagnetic environment assessment of WPT systems and the pre-design of shielding measures.
The Gene Polymorphism of VMAT2 Is Associated with Risk of Schizophrenia in Male Han Chinese

Objective To investigate the association between gene polymorphism of vesicular monoamine transporter type 2(VMAT2) and schizophrenia in Han Chinese population. Methods 430 patients with schizophrenia and 470 age-sex matched controls were recruited from four mental health centers. All patients were diagnosed by two psychiatrists based on the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders (SCID). The ligase detection reactions (LDR) method was used to assess the polymorphism of the two SNPs (rs363371 and rs363324) of VMAT2.Results No associations of two SNPs with schizophrenia was found. When we stratified males and females for the analysis, we found that that in the recessive model of rs363371, there was an obvious significant association between rs363371 and schizophrenia in males (OR=0.564, 95% CI=0.357–0.892, p=0.014) but not females. For the association between rs363324 and schizophrenia, no association was found in either males or females. No association was found when stratifying early-onset schizophrenia and late-onset schizophrenia. Conclusion Our findings indicate that both rs363371 and rs363324 were not associated with schizophrenia, while it seemed that the AA genotype of rs363371 plays a protective effect in male Chinese in developing schizophrenia.
