      • Improved Stability and Stabilization Results for Stochastic Synchronization of Continuous-Time Semi-Markovian Jump Neural Networks With Time-Varying Delay

Wei, Yanling,Park, Ju H.,Karimi, Hamid Reza,Tian, Yu-Chu,Jung, Hoyoul IEEE 2018 IEEE transactions on neural networks and learning Vol.29 No.6

<P>Continuous-time semi-Markovian jump neural networks (semi-MJNNs) are those MJNNs whose transition rates are not constant but depend on the random sojourn time. Addressing stochastic synchronization of semi-MJNNs with time-varying delay, an improved stochastic stability criterion is derived in this paper to guarantee stochastic synchronization of the response systems with the drive systems. This is achieved through constructing a semi-Markovian Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional together as well as making use of a novel integral inequality and the characteristics of cumulative distribution functions. Then, with a linearization procedure, controller synthesis is carried out for stochastic synchronization of the drive-response systems. The desired state-feedback controller gains can be determined by solving a linear matrix inequality-based optimization problem. Simulation studies are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservatism of the presented approach.</P>

      • Sliding mode control for semi-Markovian jump systems via output feedback

        Wei, Yanling,Park, Ju H.,Qiu, Jianbin,Wu, Ligang,Jung, Ho Youl Elsevier 2017 Automatica Vol.81 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper focuses on the output-feedback sliding mode controller design problem for uncertain continuous-time semi-Markovian jump systems (MJSs) in a descriptor system setup. The transition rates (TRs) of semi-MJSs rely on the random sojourn-time, which is different from the constant TRs in the conventional MJSs. By carefully exploiting the dynamical properties of the original system, combining with the switching functions, a descriptor system is firstly formulated to describe the holonomic dynamics of the sliding mode. Then, with the construction of a semi-Markovian Lyapunov function and the full utilization of the characteristics of cumulative distribution functions, a sufficient condition on the sliding surface synthesis is presented, which also guarantees the stochastic stability (SS) of sliding mode dynamical system. Furthermore, a sliding mode controller is synthesized to drive the underlying closed-loop system onto the sliding surface in finite time, locally for a given sliding region. Finally, an illustrative example is carried out to validate the effectiveness of the developed approach.</P>

      • New Approach to Fixed-Order Output-Feedback Control for Piecewise-Affine Systems

Wei, Yanling,Yu, Haoyong,Karimi, Hamid Reza,Joo, Young Hoon IEEE 2018 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems. a publi Vol.65 No.9

<P>This paper studies the fixed-order piecewise-affine (PWA) output-feedback control of PWA systems in an <TEX>$\mathscr {H}_{\infty }$</TEX> setup. In particular, the conventional output-feedback closed-loop system is first augmented with the introduction of the input vector, and a descriptor presentation of PWA system is acquired. Then, a bounded real lemma is derived for the resulting PWA system, which is realized by the construction of a smooth piecewise Lyapunov function and application of the S-procedure. Furthermore, by availing oneself of the descriptor formulation, the fixed-order PWA output-feedback controller synthesis is carried out in a unified framework. An illustrative example is provided to show the efficacy and impact of the proposed control design methodology in a Chua’s circuit.</P>

Reliable Output Feedback Control for Piecewise Affine Systems With Markov-Type Sensor Failure

        Wei, Yanling,Park, Ju H.,Qiu, Jianbin,Jung, Hoyoul IEEE 2018 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS PART 2 E Vol.65 No.7

<P>This brief addresses the problem of robust and reliable <TEX>${\mathscr {H}_{\infty }}$</TEX> static output feedback (SOF) control for uncertain discrete-time piecewise-affine (PWA) systems with sensor failure in a descriptor system framework. The Markov chain is employed to describe the sensor failure behaviors. In particular, by utilizing a system augmentation approach, the conventional closed-loop system is initially converted into a descriptor PWA model. On the basis of a mode-dependent piecewise Lyapunov function, combined with S-procedure, a novel <TEX>${\mathscr {H}_{\infty }}$</TEX> performance analysis criterion is then presented. Furthermore, by some elegant linearization techniques, the PWA SOF controller design is proposed in terms of the feasibility of a convex optimization problem. Lastly, a numerical example illustrates the effectiveness and less conservatism of the proposed approach.</P>

      • SDSS J013127.34-032100.1: A NEWLY DISCOVERED RADIO-LOUD QUASAR AT <i>z</i> = 5.18 WITH EXTREMELY HIGH LUMINOSITY

        Yi, Wei-Min,Wang, Feige,Wu, Xue-Bing,Yang, Jinyi,Bai, Jin-Ming,Fan, Xiaohui,Brandt, William N.,Ho, Luis C.,Zuo, Wenwen,Kim, Minjin,Wang, Ran,Yang, Qian,Zhang, Ju-jia,Wang, Fang,Wang, Jian-Guo,Ai, Yanl IOP Publishing 2014 ASTROPHYSICAL JOURNAL LETTERS - Vol.795 No.2

<P>Very few of the z > 5 quasars discovered to date have been radio-loud, with radio-to-optical flux ratios (radio-loudness parameters) higher than 10. Here we report the discovery of an optically luminous radio-loud quasar, SDSS J013127.34-032100.1 (J0131-0321 in short), at z = 5.18 +/- 0.01 using the Lijiang 2.4 m and Magellan telescopes. J0131-0321 has a spectral energy distribution consistent with that of radio-loud quasars. With an i-band magnitude of 18.47 and a radio flux density of 33 mJy, its radio-loudness parameter is similar to 100. The optical and near-infrared spectra taken by Magellan enable us to estimate its bolometric luminosity to be L-bol similar to 1.1 x 10(48) erg s(-1), approximately 4.5 times greater than that of the most distant quasar known to date. The black hole mass of J0131-0321 is estimated to be 2.7 x 10(9) M-circle dot, with an uncertainty up to 0.4 dex. Detailed physical properties of this high-redshift, radio-loud, potentially super-Eddington quasar can be probed in the future with more dedicated and intensive follow-up observations using multi-wavelength facilities.</P>

A Novel Recombined Potato virus Y Isolate in China

        Shuxin Han,Yanling Gao,Guoquan Fan,Wei Zhang,Cailing Qiu,Shu Zhang,Yanju Bai,Junhua Zhang,Carl Spetz 한국식물병리학회 2017 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.33 No.4

This study reports the findings of a distinct Potato virus Y (PVY) isolate found in Northeast China. One hundred and ten samples (leaves and tubers) were collected from potato plants showing mosaic symptoms around the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang province of China. The collected tubers were planted and let to grow in a greenhouse. New potato plants generated from these tubers showed similar symptoms, except for one plant. Subsequent serological analyses revealed PVY as the causing agent of the disease. A novel PVY isolate (referred to as HLJ-C-44 in this study) was isolated from this sample showing unique mild mosaic and crisped leaf margin symptoms. The complete genome of this isolate was analyzed and determined. The results showed that HLJ-C-44 is a typical PVY isolate. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that this isolate belongs to the N-Wi strain group of PVY recombinants (PVYN-Wi) and also shared the highest overall sequence identity (nucleotide and amino acid) with other members of this strain group. However, recombination analysis of isolate HLJ-C-44 revealed a recombination pattern that differed from that of other PVYN-Wi isolates. Moreover, biological assays in four different potato cultivars and in Nicotiana tabacum also revealed a different phenotypic response than that of a typical PVYN-Wi isolate. This data, combined, suggest that HLJ-C-44 is a novel PVY recombinant with distinct biological properties.

Research on surface image acquisition system of train bearing cylindrical roller

        Yudong Bao,Linkai Wu,Ye Dai,Yanling Zhao,Siming Wei 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.9

The acquisition of high-quality surface images is an important step in the surface damage detection of bearing rollers. In order to improve the quality of image acquisition and take into account the acquisition efficiency, an image acquisition system is designed in this paper. Through the dynamic analysis method, it is proved that the amplitude of the roller itself has little effect on the image in the acquisition process. Subsequently, the response surface method is used to analyze the interactive effect of the light source intensity, incident angle and roller speed on the image quality, and the optimal acquisition parameter setting value suitable for this acquisition system is found. Finally, the image of the bearing cylindrical roller with surface defects is collected to obtain a clear surface image. This paper can provide reference for the design of high level image acquisition system.
