Spring Phytoplankton Bloom in the Fronts of the East China Sea

Frontal areas between warm and saline waters of the Kuroshio currents and colder and diluted waters of the East China Sea (ECS) influenced by the Changjiang River were identified from the satellite thermal imagery and hydrological data obtained from the Coastal Ocean Process Experiment (COPEX) cruise during the period between March 1st and 10th, 1997.High chlorophyll concentrations appeared in the fronts of the East China Seas with the highest chlorophyll-a concentration in the southwestern area of Jeju Island (~2.9 mg/m3) and the eastern area of the Changjiang River Mouth (~2.8 mg/m3). Vertical structures of temperature, salinity and density were similar, showing the fronts between ECS and Kuroshio waters. The water column was well mixed in the shelf waters and was stratified around the fronts. It is inferred that the optimal condition for light utilization and nutrients induced both from the coastal and deep waters enhances the high phytoplankton productivity in the fronts of the ECS. In addition, the high chlorophyll-a in the fronts seems to have been associated with the water column stability as well.
Potential of Argo Drifters for Estimating Biological Production within the Water Column

Argo drifters provide information of the vertical structure in the water column and have a potential for the improvement of understanding phytoplankton primary production and biogeochemical cycles in combination with ocean color satellite data, which can obtain the horizontal distribution of phytoplankton biomass in the surface layer. Our examples show that using Argo drifters with satellite-measured horizontal distribution of phytoplankton biomass at the sea surface allow an improved understanding of the development of the spring bloom. The other possible uses of Argo drifter are discussed.
Planning algorithms for in-situ production of free-form concrete panels

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Various materials are used when fabricating free-form panels, including glass, aluminum, titanium, and glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), in addition to steel and concrete. Concrete has excellent structural stability, constructability, and economic efficiency, as well as the advantages of shape, thickness, forming of the finished surface and homogeneity of material. As a result, fast, low-cost technology has been developed to ensure the quality of free-form concrete panels (FCPs). FCPs, like precast concrete members, are generally constructed during in-plant production, on-site transportation, and installation. However, if FCPs are produced in site, cost savings of approximately 20% can be achieved due to savings in transportation and overhead at plants. In order to produce and install FCPs in site with restricted time and area, it is necessary to analyze and systematically link the related processes and influence factors. The purpose of this study is to develop planning algorithms for the in-situ production of free-form concrete panels. For this study, the relationship between the factors affecting the production plan of FCPs was mathematically established. The algorithms proposed in this study support the quick and easy establishment of in-situ production plans, contributing to cost reduction, according to various influencing factors such as the number of CNC machines, number of production cycles, production time, production area, and lead time.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> This study suggested the algorithms to analyze the in-situ production planning mathematically for installation of FCPs. </LI> <LI> The proposed algorithm can estimate easily and quickly the information on production planning such as the number of CNC machines, production time, production area, and lead time. </LI> <LI> The proposed algorithm can simulate various solutions to offer various simulation and optimization results for satisfying various field conditions such as limited production time and area. </LI> <LI> The users of proposed algorithms can make management decisions such as the number of CNC machine and lead time to reduce costs and meet schedule. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Profit, the performance of an apartment development project, is directly affected by the sales ratio, unit sale price, financial costs, land costs and construction costs. However, these factors fluctuate in response to changes in the environment, including various stake holders, and the profits fluctuate as a result. In order to ensure that profits are managed within target levels, these factors must be able to be predicted, controlled and monitored and managed up to the start, sale, and end stages of the project. The purpose of this study is to develop a profit risk management model for apartment development projects. The results of this study will contribute to the establishment of academic basis for the dynamic management of project profits that fluctuate with time and environment. And in practice, it will help project developers manage their business revenue to the proper level. In addition, the risks that occur from time to time can be identified quantitatively and visually, and it is expected that it will be easier to derive consensus points for smooth business progress by reducing conflicts of interest among stakeholders.

There is a limit to preventing various types of safety accidents in advance at construction sites. Even for buildings of the same total floor area, it is expected that the more complex the building shape or the higher the number of floors, the higher the probability of a safety accident. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the effect of the shape of a building on safety accidents using safety accident data generated during actual construction. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of building shape on safety accidents. As a result, the R2 value of shape factor and safety accident was 0.901, and the R2 value of construction difficulty and safety accident was 0.944. In the future, the results of this study will be used as basic data for improving safety management related systems.
봉사학습을 통한 예비교사의 교육현장 참여경험에 관한 질적분석

예비교사 교육에서 교육현장 경험이 강조되면서 교육봉사가 필수이수과목으로 지정된 가운데, 본 연구는 봉사학습을 통한 예비교사들의 교육현장 참여경험을 질적으로 분석하였다. 서울시 소재 K대학교에 재학 중인 125명의 사범대 또는 교직이수 학생들이 교직수업과 연계하여 진행된 봉사학습에 참여하였다. 예비교사들의 봉사학습 보고서에 나타난 봉사학습 경험을 지속적 비교법에 기초하여 질적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 125개의 개념, 34개의 하위범주, 16개의 범주가 도출되었고, 도출된 개념과 범주를 그 내용을 기초로 하여 봉사학습 활동 참여의 시작, 봉사학습 활동 참여의 중심경험, 봉사학습 활동 참여의 맥락조건, 봉사학습 활동의 외부적 영향 조건, 봉사학습 활동 전략, 봉사학습활동 참여 경험의 결과로 분류한 후 제시하였다. 예비교사의 실천적 역량강화를 위한 교과목과 연계한 봉사학습의 적극적 운영 제안과 본 연구의 제한점과 함께 추후연구 방향을 논의하였다. It has been emphasized to integrate field-based experiences into the pre-service education curriculum. This study analyzed the service learning experiences of pre-service teachers qualitatively. The participants were the 125 pre-service teachers who took the classes of the researchers, in which service learning was required to perform. The researchers analyzed the reports completed by the 125 pre-service teachers by asking their service learning experiences and processes. Data were analyzed by using the constant comparative method. As the results, the pre-service teachers' experiences were analyzed into 125 concepts, 34 subcategories, and 16 categories. The implication for the educational service were discussed and suggested.
