An Analytical Model for the Threshold Voltage of Short-Channel Double-Material-Gate (DMG) MOSFETs with a Strained-Silicon (s-Si) Channel on Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) Substrates

        Shiv Bhushan,Santunu Sarangi,Gopi Krishna S.,Abirmoya Santra,Sarvesh Dubey,Pramod Kumar Tiwari 대한전자공학회 2013 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.13 No.4

In this paper, an analytical threshold voltage model is developed for a short-channel double-material-gate (DMG) strained-silicon (s-Si) on silicon-germanium (Si1-x Gex) MOSFET structure. The proposed threshold voltage model is based on the so called virtual-cathode potential formulation. The virtual-cathode potential is taken as minimum channel potential along the transverse direction of the channel and is derived from tow-dimensional (2D) potential distribution of channel region. The (2D) potential distribution of channel region. The 2D channel potential is formulated by solving the 2D Poisson"s equation with suitable boundary conditions in both the strained-Si layer and relaxed Si1-x Gex layer. The effects of a number of device parameters like the Ge mole fraction, Si film thickness and gate-length ratio have been considered on threshold voltage. Further, the drain induced barrier lowering (DIBL) has also been analyzed for gate-length ratio and amount of strain variations. The validity of the present 2D analytical model is verified with ATLASTM, a 2D device simulator from Silvaco Inc.

Engineering a novel bilayer membrane for bone defects regeneration

        Tiwari, A.P.,Joshi, M.K.,Maharjan, B.,Ko, S.W.,Kim, J.I.,Park, C.H.,Kim, C.S. North-Holland 2016 Materials letters Vol.180 No.-

We report the fabrication of a novel bilayer scaffold as a barrier membrane via modified-solvent casting and evaporation technique for the regeneration of bone defects. The blended solution of polycaprolactone (PCL) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was treated with hydrochloric acid (HCL), which resulted in the in situ formation of carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. This led to the phase separation between the PCL and calcium-based compounds and subsequently to the formation of a bilayer membrane. Surface morphology, surface wettability, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis confirmed the formation of a bilayered construct with a PCL-rich thin layer on the upper surface and a calcium-rich porous layer on the lower surface. From the FE-SEM images, the PC30 membrane showed a smooth upper layer with pores less than 10@?m diameter, whereas the lower layer contained many interconnected larger pores up to 1000@?m diameter in addition to the visibly identified macrovoids. The cell adhesion assay showed that both surfaces of the membrane responded well to the cells. In addition, the upper surface prevented the down-growth of the fibroblasts. The initial results suggest a new strategy for the fabrication of the bilayer membrane for regenerative medicine.

Diagnosis of Benzimidazole Resistance in Haemonchus contortus of Sheep by Allele Specific PCR

        Tiwari, J.,Kolte, A.P.,Kumar, S.,Swarnkar, C.P.,Singh, D.,Pathak, K.M.L. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.1

The study was conducted on 162 adult male Haemonchus contortus of sheep collected from Avikanagar, Jaipur and Bikaner regions to diagnose the benzimidazole (BZ) resistance in H. contortus. The BZ resistance is primarily linked with the mutation in ${\beta}$-tubulin isotype 1 gene which substitute phenylalanine (Phe) into tyrosine (Tyr) at the 200 codon of the gene. An allele specific polymerase chain reaction (AS-PCR) technique was used for diagnosis of BZ resistance in H. contortus. In AS-PCR, one reverse primer (TGG 312) was used in two separate reactions with each of 2 forward primers (resistant TGG 331 and susceptible CAW 106 primer) that differed only at 3' nucleotide position. Therefore, the amplified products from resistant and susceptible parasites were produced 267 and 266 bp, respectively. A total of 162 parasites were genotyped, of which 130 parasites found homozygous resistant 'rr', 22 heterozygous 'rS' and 10 homozygous susceptible 'SS' type. The prevalence of 'rr' individuals was higher in Jaipur (98%) followed by Avikanagar (93%) and Bikaner (50%) regions. Overall, the prevalence of BZ resistant allele (r) was higher (87%) as compared to 13% of BZ susceptible allele (S).

Effect of Nitrogen Gas Enriched Packing on Quality and Storage Life of Pearl Millet Based Fried Snack

        ( Tiwari Ajita ),( Jha S. K ) 한국농업기계학회 2017 바이오시스템공학 Vol.42 No.1

Purpose: The storage life of pearl millet-based, deep fried, ready-to-eat snacks, packaged in aluminum-laminated polyethylene having a thickness of 50 μm (with and without nitrogen) was evaluated under storage conditions of 38±2°C and 90% RH. Methods: The moisture content, free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value, and crispness of the snack were evaluated throughout the storage period. The moisture content, FFA, and peroxide value increased with an increase in storage period, but the increase was less in packages flushed with nitrogen gas. The crispness decreased with an increase in the storage period, for snacks both with and without nitrogen packages. However, the decrease was less in nitrogen-flushed packages. FFA and peroxide values were strongly correlated with the moisture content of the snack. The storage life of the snack was found to be 60 and 45 days in packages with and without nitrogen respectively. Conclusions: The snack`s predicted storage life, for snacks with and without nitrogen packages, was determined as 294 and 254 days respectively.

ON RELATIONSHIPS AMONG INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY APPROXIMATION OPERATORS, INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY TOPOLOGY AND INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY AUTOMATA

Tiwari, S.P. The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2010 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.28 No.1

This paper is a study about the relationships among topologies and intuitionistic fuzzy topology induced, respectively, by approximation operators and an intuitionistic fuzzy approximation operator associated with an approximation space (X, R), when the relation R on X is precisely reflexive and transitive. In particular, we consider an intuitionistic fuzzy approximation operator on an approximation space X (i.e., a set X with a reflexive and transitive relation on it), which turns out to be an intuitionistic fuzzy closure operator. This intuitionistic fuzzy closure operator gives rise to two saturated fuzzy topologies on X and it turns out that all the level topologies of one of the fuzzy topology coincide and equal to the topology analogously induced on X by a crisp approximation operator. These observations are then applied to intuitionistic fuzzy automata.

A Comparison of Pulsed and Continuous Atom Transfer between Two Magneto-optical Traps

        S. P. Ram,S. K. Tiwari,S. R. Mishra 한국물리학회 2010 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.57 No.5

We present the experimental results for a comparison between pulsed and continuous transfer of cold 87Rb atoms between a vapor chamber magneto-optical trap (VC-MOT) and an ultra-highvacuum magneto-optical trap (UHV-MOT) when using a resonant push beam. We find that employing repetitive cycles of a pulsed and unfocused push beam on an unsaturated VC-MOT cloud results in a significantly higher number of atoms transferred to the UHV-MOT than the number obtained with a continuous push beam focused on a continuous VC-MOT. In pulsed transfer, we find that both the VC-MOT loading duration and the push beam duration play important roles in the transfer process and govern the number of atoms transferred to the UHV-MOT. The parameters and processes affecting the transfer have been investigated and are discussed.

      • Activated Sericite: An Efficient and Effective Natural Clay Material for Attenuation of Cesium from Aquatic Environment

        TIWARI, D.,LALHMUNSIAMA,,CHOI, S.I.,LEE, S.M. Elsevier 2014 Pedosphere an international journal Vol.24 No.6

<P>Sericite is mica-based natural clay that is annealed at 800 degrees C for 4 h, followed by acid activation using 3.0 mol L-1 HCl at 100 degrees C. The interaction of cesium (I), Cs(I), with sericite could provide useful data for the study of soil erosion or mass water movement utilizing the natural radioactive Cs. In this study sericite and activated sericite were used to assess their suitability in the attenuation of Cs from the aquatic environment under both batch and column experiments. The surface morphological studies indicated that a disordered and heterogeneous surface structure was exhibited by the activated sericite, whereas the native sericite exhibited a compact and layered structure. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area results indicated a significant increase in the surface area due to the activation of sericite. The batch reactor data collected for various parametric studies revealed that an increase in pH (from 2.0 to 8.0) and sorbate concentration (from 10.0 to 100.0 mg L-1) apparently favored the attenuation of Cs(I). The time-dependent sorption data revealed that Cs(I) uptake was very rapid, and it achieved its saturation value within just 50 min of contact. The kinetic modeling studies indicated that the uptake of Cs(I) followed a pseudo-second-order rate equation; hence, the attenuation capacity of these solids for Cs(I) was estimated to be 0.858 and 4.353 mg g(-1) for sericite and activated sericite solids, respectively. The adsorption isotherm modeling data showed a reasonably good applicability of the Freundlich model than the Langmuir model. The effect of background electrolyte concentrations (0.001 to 0.1 mol L-1) of Mg(NO3)(2) indicated that the presence of this electrolyte could not significantly affect the percent removal of Cs(I) by activated sericite. Furthermore, the fixed-bed column reactor operations were performed to obtain the breakthrough data, which were fitted well to the Thomas non-linear equation. Therefore, the loading capacity of Cs(I) was estimated to be 1.585 mg g(-1) at the initial influent Cs(I) concentration of 30.0 mg L-1 at pH 5.0.</P>

      • Interconnected Pt-Nanodendrite/DNA/Reduced-Graphene-Oxide Hybrid Showing Remarkable Oxygen Reduction Activity and Stability

        Tiwari, Jitendra N.,Kemp, Kingsley Christian,Nath, Krishna,Tiwari, Rajanish N.,Nam, Hong-Gil,Kim, Kwang S. American Chemical Society 2013 ACS NANO Vol.7 No.10

<P>Controlling the morphology and size of platinum nanodendrites (PtDs) is a key factor in improving their catalytic activity and stability. Here, we report the synthesis of PtDs on genomic-double-stranded-DNA/reduced-graphene-oxide (gdsDNA/rGO) by the NaBH4 reduction of H2PtCl6 in the presence of plant gdsDNA. Compared to industrially adopted catalysts (<I>i.e.</I>, state-of-the-art Pt/C catalyst, Pt/rGO, Pt3Co, <I>etc.</I>), the as-synthesized PtDs/gdsDNA/rGO hybrid displays very high oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalytic activities (much higher than the 2015 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) target values), which are the rate-determining steps in electrochemical energy devices, in terms of onset-potential, half-wave potential, specific-activity, mass-activity, stability, and durability. Moreover, the hybrid exhibits a highly stable mass activity for the ORR over a wide pH range of 1–13. These exceptional properties would make the hybrid applicable in next-generation electrochemical energy devices.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2013/ancac3.2013.7.issue-10/nn4038404/production/images/medium/nn-2013-038404_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn4038404'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
