Optimization Weighted Matrix of Non-Negative Matrix Factorization for Image Compression
Robin,Suharjito 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.10 No.3
Many methods have been applied in image compression and Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is one of some approach which could be applied in image compression. Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) was a realtively new approach to decompose data into two factors with non-negative entries. This paper shows that the NMF method can be applied in image compression using a model of 2x2 pixels weighted matrix rather than using the model of 200x200 pixels, 10x10 pixels and 4x4 pixels weighted matrix. This paper also shows that the 2x2 Weighted matrix model example of ((65536, 1), (1, 65536)) was the best weighted matrix for NMF image compression. Finally, this research proved that by using the weighted matrix with higher determinant value could gain smaller size compressed image.

Sinodima gen. nov., a new genus in the click-beetle tribe Dimini Candèze, 1863 from the mountains in Hunan, China, is described and figured here to accommodate S. jenisi sp. nov. The new genus is easily recognizable from all other Dimini by the following combination of characters: short antennomeres II and III; transverse pronotum with inconspicuous anterior angles; arcuate prosternal process; mesoventrite with straight frontal margin and oblique and straight sides; absent hind wings; and absent sclerites or spines in the bursa copulatrix. Additionally, we compare Sinodima gen. nov. with the morphologically similar genera, and discuss the systematic position of this genus within Dimini.

We investigate the investment strategies of individual day traders in the Taiwan Index Futures market, along with their impact on market liquidity and volatility. Our results indicate a tendency among most individual day traders to behave as irrational contrarian traders. We also present consistent evidence to show that most individual day traders provide market liquidity by reducing the bid-ask spread, temporary price volatility and the temporal price impacts. Our results, which are consistent with the experimental results of Bloomfield et al. (2009), provide no support for the general criticism that day trading destabilizes the market while also exacerbating market volatility.

Objectives This study aimed to determine the factors associated with reducing exposure to secondhand smoke among children in households of rural Bangladesh. Methods A cross-sectional study of 410 smokers and non-smokers, in 6 villages of Munshigonj district was conducted. Data were collected randomly using a self-administrative questionnaire. Differences between variables were assessed using Chi-square or Fisher’s exact test (as appropriate). Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to investigate associations. All results were presented as unadjusted and adjusted odds ratios with a 95% confidence interval. The level of statistical significance was reached when p < 0.05. Results A smoker in the household was determined to be a risk factor associated with exposure of other household members to secondhand smoke (p < 0.001). Higher education, strict implementation of household smoke-free rules, a higher influence of social norms and culture, as well as moderate knowledge on exposure to secondhand smoke were considered as preventive factors associated with exposure of others in the home to secondhand smoke. Conclusion Exposure to secondhand smoke is an extensive and preventable risk factor for children, and reducing exposure to secondhand smoke will have a largely positive effect in the community. An effective public health intervention model may reduce secondhand smoking.
National cultures and the asset growth effect
( Robin K. Chou ),( Kuan-cheng Ko ),( S. Ghon Rhee ) 한국파생상품학회 2023 선물연구 Vol.31 No.4
National cultures significantly explain cross-country differences in the relation between asset growth and stock returns. Motivated by the notion that managers in individualistic and low uncertainty-avoiding cultures have a higher tendency to overinvest, this study aims to show that the negative relation between asset growth and stock returns is stronger in countries with such cultural features. Once the researchers control for cultural dimensions, proxies associated with the q-theory, limits-to-arbitrage, corporate governance, investor protection and accounting quality provide no incremental power for the relation between asset growth and stock returns across countries. Evidence of this study highlights the importance of the overinvestment hypothesis in explaining the asset growth anomaly around the world.
Nuclear Data Activities in the International Atomic Energy Agency-Nuclear Data Section (IAEA-NDS)
Robin A. Forrest 한국물리학회 2011 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.59 No.23
As part of its function the IAEA-NDS coordinates and supports nuclear data activities in the fields of neutron and charged-particle reactions and nuclear structure and decay data, and disseminates the resulting reports and databases. The NDS coordinates two international nuclear networks (and one atomic and molecular) - the International Network of Nuclear Reaction Data Centres (NRDC) and the International Network of Nuclear Structure and Decay Data Evaluators (NSDD). The NDS staff are also involved in several compilations and evaluations of nuclear data. Main activities include compilation for NSR and EXFOR, evaluation for ENSDF and DDEP and evaluation of neutron and charged-particle reaction cross sections and covariances. Most of the NDS support for nuclear data activities is in the form of Coordinated Research Projects and Data Development Projects; a summary of past, present and future activities is presented.

This study aims to explore relationship between teacher self-efficacy and teacher teaching practice in junior high schools at Taiwan. TALIS (2018) survey database is adopted, and 3106 teachers were analyzed in this research. Through literature review and exploratory factor analysis (EFA), the research model is assumed to include two constructs (classroom management efficacy and instruction efficacy) in teacher self-efficacy, and three constructs (clarity of instruction practice, cognitive activation practice, and classroom management practice) in teacher teaching practice. Through the analysis of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the main findings are as follows. (1) For clarity of instruction practice, instruction efficacy has more positive influences than classroom management efficacy. (2) For classroom management practice, classroom management efficacy as more positive influences than instruction efficacy. (3) For cognitive activation practice, instruction efficacy has positive influences but classroom management efficacy has negative influences.

For linear operators between Banach algebras ``spectralboundedness" is derived from ordinary boundedness by substituting spectralradius for norm. The interplay between this concept and some of its nearrelatives is conspicuous in a result of Curto and Mathieu.
