El cine, Cagliostro y la generacin del 27

Rafael Pontes Velasco 한국스페인어문학회 2007 스페인어문학 Vol.0 No.45

Calculation of All Possible Stoichiometric Coefficients and Theoretical Yields of Microbial Global Reactions

        Rafael Eduardo Hernández-Guisao,Aranda-Barradas Juan Silvestre,Badillo-Corona Agustín,García-Peña Elvia Inés,Salgado-Manjarrez Edgar 한국생물공학회 2022 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.27 No.5

Stoichiometric analysis is a crucial step in biochemical processes because it allows us to find the proportions in which the substrates and products react. A system of algebraic equation is obtained from an elemental balance of the participating substances and determined, overdetermined or underdetermined systems can result depending on the number of substances and elements. Underdetermined systems are the most common ones as there are, generally, more substances than elemental balances. However, such systems have been poorly studied and a straightforward way to establish the solution space has not yet been reported. In this work a novel approach for finding all the possible solutions to such underdetermined systems is reported for the first time. The solutions space is expressed as a set of vectors which are here referred as extreme stoichiometries. To illustrate the general applicability and some uses of the proposed approach, three different fermentation systems are analyzed: growth of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, a mixed culture for hydrogen production, and the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is shown how the full stoichiometric spaces can be calculated for heterotrophy, autotrophy, mixotrophy, growth of mixed cultures in mixed substrates and how the experimental results should be contained in such spaces, what permits a consistency analysis. With the proposed method, it is now possible to estimate the maximum yields for any given microbial growth reaction and to assess the congruence of experimental data, even when the system is underdetermined.

Ocean’s Thirteen in the port of Antwerp : Reflections on how IT specialists were rounded up by maritime cocaine smugglers

Rafael Rondelez 한국디지털포렌식학회 2019 디지털 포렌식 연구 Vol.13 No.1(UNODC특별호 )

Technological innovation continues to shape society and economies and - by extension - the serious and organized crime landscape in Europe as well as in other parts of the world. The fourth industrial revolution will undoubtedly bear consequences for the entire spectrum of crime. Society will increasingly face complex technological crime issues while new - cyber driven - criminals will continue to appear upon the horizon. The cybersecurity research community recently started to broaden its vision (Leukfeldt, 2017). It is now moving away from primarily discussing technological aspects towards the analysis of non-technological issues such as the human factors and other socio-technical matters related to cybersecurity and -crime. In doing so, the expectation is held high that this approach will enable society to take the step from merely discussing technological aspects of stopping cyber incidents and attacks, to understanding and preventing individuals who are involved in, or seek, to commit cybercrime or cyberterrorism. This article aims to contribute to this objective as it discusses a recent case where so-called white or ethical hackers joined forces with a traditional organized crime group and assisted the smuggling of narcotics representing a value of several tens of millions of euros. The focus of the paper is not so much on the technological aspects of this cooperation but on exploring the social dynamics which led these guys to experience their worst nightmare.

Venezuelan surgeons view concerning teaching human anatomical dissection

        Rafael Romero Reveró,n 대한해부학회 2017 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.50 No.1

Currently, the importance of human anatomical dissection have come under debate in many countries but there are not references in Venezuela on this concern. This survey’s aim is to assess the insights of Venezuelan surgeons and their outlines of usage of human anatomical dissection in teaching and learning human anatomy. Sixty-five Venezuelan surgeons at the Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad completed an anonymous survey on current and future teaching practices in human anatomy. Eighty-nine point two three percent of surveyed (n=58) conferred importance to human anatomical dissection despite the arrival of new innovations in learning human anatomy. The group surveyed view human anatomical dissectionbased teaching as the most beneficial method of teaching human anatomy and it should be bolstered in human anatomical education with matching use of three-dimensional computerized tomography imaging as a complementary form for teaching and learning.

Population Structure of Codium amplivesiculatum (Chlorophyta) Associated with Rhodolith Beds from the Southwestern Gulf of California

        Rafael Riosmena-Rodríguez,Elena Holguín-Acosta 한국조류학회I 2008 ALGAE Vol.23 No.2

Populations of Codium amplivesiculatum were found in association with rhodolith beds. We present population trends of C. amplivesiculatum from surveys conducted in the southwestern Gulf of California based on monthly sampling from June 1999 to August 2000. Surveys were conducted at 2 sites in the San Lorenzo Channel at depths of 8 - 12 m. The parameters measured were percent cover, biomass and structure in relation to size of the thalli. From each thallus the following measurements were taken: length and diameter, proportion of each thallus with reproductive structures and the degree of fragmentation (measured as number of small thalli). Mean biomass and cover varied seasonally with the maximum (1036.6 g m–2 and 100% cover) present in June 2000 and the minimum in winter (0 g m–2 and 0% cover). The longest fronds (3 m) occurred during July 1999 and August 2000, while the maximum diameters of 1.0 cm were present during October and November 1999. There were no significant linear relationships between length and diameter of the fronds, suggesting independent growth. Reproductive structures were common in June and July 1999 with monoic and dioic thalli present. Most fronds were monoic, and this is the first record of this feature for this species. Fragmentation occurred in September, and may be associated with stress from early gametangial reproduction and the combination of high temperatures and low nutrients. A hypothetical life cycle for the species is presented.

Early predictors of acute kidney injury in patients with cirrhosis and bacterial infection: urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin and cardiac output as reliable tools

        ( Rafael O. Ximenes ),( Alberto Q. Farias ),( Claudia M. B. Helou ) 대한신장학회 2015 Kidney Research and Clinical Practice Vol.34 No.3

Background: Hemodynamic abnormalities and acute kidney injury (AKI) are often present in infected cirrhotic patients. Hence, an early diagnosis of AKI is necessary, which might require the validation of new predictors as the determinations of urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (uNGAL) and cardiac output. Methods: We evaluated 18 infected cirrhotic patients subdivided into two groups at admission (0 hours). In Group I, we collected urine samples at 0 hours, 6 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours for uNGAL and fractional excretion of sodium determinations. In Group II, we measured cardiac output using echocardiography. Results: The age of patients was 55.071.9 years, and 11 patients were males. The Model for End-Stage Liver Disease score was 2171, whereas the Child-Pugh score was C in 11 patients and B in 7 patients. Both patients in Group I and Group II showed similar baseline characteristics. In Group I, we diagnosed AKI in 5 of 9 patients, and the mean time to this diagnosis by measuring serum creatinine was 5.4 days. Patients with AKI showed higher uNGAL levels than those without AKI from 6 hours to 48 hours. The best accuracy using the cutoff values of 68 ng uNGAL/mg creatinine was achieved at 48 hours when we distinguished patients with and without AKI in all cases. In Group II, we diagnosed AKI in 4 of 9 patients, and cardiac output was significantly higher in patients who developed AKI at 0 hours. Conclusion: Both uNGAL and cardiac output determinations allow the prediction of AKI in infected cirrhotic patients earlier than increments in serum creatinine.

First Results of the Single Heartstring Aortotomy for Multiple Off-Pump Vein Grafts: A Case Series

Rafael Freire dos Santos,Lars Niclauss 대한흉부외과학회 2020 Journal of Chest Surgery (J Chest Surg) Vol.53 No.6

To validate the technique of the single Heartstring aortotomy for multiple off-pump ve- nous bypass grafts (described in 2015), the results of a 38-month follow-up study of 18 patients, including high-risk patients, are presented. No early deaths or cardiac or cerebral complications occurred. During the follow-up period, 2 patients died of non-cardiac caus- es, and 3 developed coronary ischemia. Ischemia occurred due to late graft occlusion in 2 patients, both of whom had normal postoperative courses and correct graft flow. The pres- ence of acute symptoms 24 months after surgery in these patients indicated that techni- cal graft failure was unlikely. This safe technique combines the advantages of simple and reproducible revascularization, the off-pump approach, and minimal aortic manipulation.

Sufficient Conditions for the Attainment of Sampled Systems without Nonminimum-phase Zeros

Rafael Bárcena,Ainhoa Etxebarria 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2010 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.8 No.2

A study on the convenient tuning of fractional-order hold electronic devices for digital control systems is presented. When certain constraints are fulfilled, this study assures in advance the attainment of inverse stable discrete plants. The main result is based on classic numerical analysis techniques and is applicable when the process to be digitally controlled is described as a second order plant or as a first order plant with time delay. In such cases, by using a conveniently tuned fractional-order hold, the discretization nonminimum-phase zeros emerged when using a common zero-order hold are avoided. In this way, the performance of the digitally controlled system may be improved.

Stabilizing Control of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle Pushing a Floating Load

        Rafael Vida Castro Rosario,José Paulo V. S. Cunha,Paula B. Garcia-Rosa 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.12

In this paper, the automatic control of a single unmanned surface vehicle (USV) pushing a floating load is developed and theoretically analyzed. This represents a challenging control problem, since the manipulated load is underactuated and its open-loop dynamics is inherently unstable. Thus, a stabilizing controller must be designed. To this end, a scheme that combines partial feedback linearization with local linearization of the remaining nonlinear terms is proposed. Such scheme simplifies the design of a variable structure controller, that has robustness characteristics to parametric uncertainties and matched disturbances. The proposed closed-loop control system has local stability properties. Small-scale experimental results in calm waters, and simulation results, illustrate the performance of the proposed control system.
