        Molecular cloning and expression analysis of a myosin light chain 1 (MLC‐1) gene from Indian meal moth Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

        Myosin light chain 1 (MLC‐1) protein acts in the organization, dynamics and transport processes associated with the cytoskeleton. In this work, an MLC‐1 gene was cloned and characterized from the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae). The isolated PiMLC‐1 cDNA is 913 bp, including a 5′‐untranslated region (UTR) of 79 bp, 3′‐UTR of 381 bp and an open reading frame (ORF) of 453 bp encoding a polypeptide of 150 amino acids, which contains two calcium binding domains (EF‐hands). The deduced PiMLC‐1 protein sequence has 39–94% comparison with other individuals. The qPCR analysis revealed that PiMLC‐1 was expressed in the four developmental stages (egg, larva, pupa and adult) and in all tissues tested, suggesting that it plays an important role in development of P. interpunctella. Based on the MLC‐1 amino acids, phylogenetic analysis showed a similar topology with the traditional classification, suggesting the potential value of the MLC‐1 protein in phylogenetic inference.

        『春秋左氏傳』所程規的人文精神

        以上通過春秋時代鬼神與人二者地位之升降, 以及當時各國賢士大夫對於天道陰陽一流事件的詮釋二端, 藉以說明『春秋左氏傳』一書所呈現的人文精神. 全書中類似的事例還有不少, 本文只是聯發其端緖, 其他的例子就不再擧了. 而要說明『春秋左氏傳』一書所呈顯的人文精神, 除了本文所提示的二端以外, 當然還可以從其他方面觀察, 全面論述, 且俟諸異日. 至於於晩近學者所重視的人與自然之間的和諧對應開題. 由於不在本文的範圍之內, 這裡也就略去不談了.

        The first record of genus Neocsikia Ôhira & Becker (Coleoptera, Elateridae, Dimini) in China, with the description of a new species

        The click-beetle genus Neocsikia Ôhira & Becker, 1972 is newly recorded from Xizang, China upon the discoveries of Neocsikia nepalensis Ôhira & Becker, 1972 and N. xuhaoi Qiu, sp. nov. Neocsikia nepalensis is redescribed based on the type material from Nepal and material collected in Nyalam County, Xizang, China. Neocsikia xuhaoi Qiu, sp. nov. is described based on the material collected in Mêdog County, Xizang, China. Both species are illustrated and their principal diagnostic features are provided.         New species of Sinodima Kundrata, Sormova & Qiu, 2019 reveal the first case of strong sexual dimorphism in Dimini (Coleoptera: Elateridae)

Genus Sinodima Kundrata, Sormova & Qiu, 2019 was originally described based on a single species represented by the female holotype. In this study, we examined more than 500 specimens of Sinodima collected using Malaise traps. As a result, we described two new species from China: Sinodima liupanshuiensis sp. nov. and Sinodima nanlingensis sp. nov. The males of this genus are firstly reported and distinctly differentiated from the females by the elongate body and fully developed hind wings. Two new combinations are proposed for species originally described in genus Penia Laporte, 1838: Sinodima elongata (Arimoto, 2023), comb. nov. and Sinodima sucinea (Schimmel, 2001), comb. nov. The newly discovered Sinodima species provide the first report on strong sexual dimorphism in Dimini and highlight an unusual season activity of adults during autumn to early winter.

        Preparation and characterization of the antimony telluride hexagonal nanoplates

        Nanostructured thermoelectric materials are of much interest for improving the thermoelectric figure of merit. In the present work, Sb2Te3 hexagonal nanoplates were successfully fabricated via a facile hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The results show that the typical Sb2Te3 crystal is hexagonal in shape with about 35 nm in thickness and 300 nm in edge length.       • An Increase in Synaptic NMDA Receptors in the Insular Cortex Contributes to Neuropathic Pain

        <P><B>Stopping the Pain</B></P><P>Damage to the central or peripheral nervous system can trigger the development of neuropathic pain, which can manifest as painful sensations in response to stimuli that are not normally painful. Qiu <I>et al.</I> found that mice that had developed neuropathic pain after peripheral nerve injury showed changes in synaptic plasticity and increased abundance of synaptic NMDA receptors in the insular cortex, a region of the brain that is activated by acute and chronic pain. Using pharmacological inhibitors and transgenic mice, they mimicked these changes in vitro with insular cortical slices and thus identified the signaling pathway responsible. Mice injected with NMDA receptor inhibitors showed reduced behavioral signs of neuropathic pain after peripheral nerve injury. Thus, blocking NMDA receptor function in the insular cortex may prevent the development of neuropathic pain.</P>

      • Sensitivity of Gastric Cancer Cells to Chemotherapy Drugs in Elderly Patients and Its Correlation with Cyclooxygenase-2 Expression

        Objective: To explore the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to chemotherapy drugs in elderly patients and its correlation with cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in cancer tissue. Materials and Methods: Forty-three elderly patients with gastric cancer (observation group) and 31 young patients with gastrointestinal tumors (control group) who were all diagnosed by pathology and underwent surgery in the 89th Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army were selected. Drug sensitivity testing of tumor cells in primary culture was carried out in both groups using a methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method, and the expression of COX-2 and the factors related to multi-drug resistance (MDR) in cancer tissue were assessed by immunohistochemistry. Results: The inhibition rates (IR) of vincristine (VCR), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin (L-OHP), mitomycin (MMC) and epirubicin (eADM) on tumor cells in the observation group were dramatically lower than in the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The positive rates of COX-2, glutathione s-transferase-${\pi}$ (GST-${\pi}$) and P glycoprotein (P-gp) expression in cancer tissue in the observation group were all higher than in control group (P<0.05), while that of DNA topoisomerase $II{\alpha}$ ($TopoII{\alpha}$) expression lower than in the control group (P<0.01). In the observation group, COX-2 expression in cancer tissue had a significantly-positive correlation with GST-${\pi}$ and P-gp (r=0.855, P=0.000; r=0.240, P=0.026), but a negative correlation with $TopoII{\alpha}$ (r=-0.328, P=0.002). In the control group, COX-2 expression in cancer tissue was only correlated with P-gp positively (r=0.320, P=0.011). Bivariate correlation analysis displayed that COX-2 expression in cancer tissue in the observation group had a significantly-negative correlation with the IRs of 5-FU, L-OHP, paclitaxel (PTX) and eADM in tumor cells (r=-0.723, P=0.000; r=-0.570, P=0.000; r=-0.919, P=0.000; r=-0.781, P=0.000), but with hydroxycamptothecine (HCPT), VCR and 5-FU in the control group (r=-0.915, P=0.000; r=-0.890, P=0.000; r=-0.949, P=0.000). Conclusions: Gastric cancer cells in elderly patients feature stronger MDR, which may be related to high COX-2 expression.

        A review on thermohydraulic and mechanical-physical properties of SiC, FeCrAl and Ti<sub>3</sub>SiC<sub>2</sub> for ATF cladding

        At present, the Department of Energy (DOE) in Unite State are directing the efforts of developing accident tolerant fuel (ATF) technology. As the first barrier of nuclear fuel system, the material selection of fuel rod cladding for ATFs is a basic but very significant issue for the development of this concept. The advanced cladding is attractive for providing much stronger oxidation resistance and better in-pile behavior under sever accident conditions (such as SBO, LOCA) for giving more coping time and, of course, at least an equivalent performance under normal condition. In recent years, many researches on in-plie or out-pile physical properties of some suggested cladding materials have been conducted to solve this material selection problem. Base on published literatures, this paper introduced relevant research backgrounds, objectives, research institutions and their progresses on several main potential claddings include triplex SiC, FeCrAl and MAX phase material Ti3SiC2. The physical properties of these claddings for their application in ATF area are also reviewed in thermohydraulic and mechanical view for better understanding and simulating the behaviors of these new claddings. While most of important data are available from publications, there are still many relevant properties are lacking for the evaluations.

        Density functional theory and experimental studies of Cu2+ activation on a cyanide-leached sphalerite surface

        Density functional theory calculations,flotation behavior, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and infraredspectra were combined to reveal the Cu2+ activation mechanism on a cyanide (CN )-leached sphaleritesurface. Low CN adsorption enhanced the activation capability of Cu2+ on the sphalerite surface,whereas the hydrophilicity of the sphalerite increased with increasing CN coverage, which hindered Cu2+ adsorption. As the amount of chemically adsorbed Cu2+ on the sphalerite surface increased, Cu2+ beganto desorb CN , leading to the same result, which is consistent with the low CN coverage.

        Online Automatic English Translation Based on Mobile Edge Computing

        The English translation is an important means of converting language as the basis of communication, is gradually becoming an indispensa-ble part of people’s daily life. With the rapid progress of science, cultural exchanges between countries in the world have become more and more common. And the advent of the Internet era has led to more frequent exchanges between different languages, and the demand for lan-guage translation has gradually increased. How to translate English quickly and accurately is the current challenge of machine translation tasks. In this paper, we investigate how to use the neural network model for the English translation in order to better assist the establishment of the machine translation system. We design an English translation method based on an encoder-decoder structure and an attention mechanism. First, we analyze the characteristics of the LSTM model. Second, we design an English translation framework using the seq2seq model. Third, we combine the attention mechanism to build a more robust translation model to improve the translation performance of the model. Finally, we validate the translation performance of our model on two public datasets and experimental results prove that the method proposed in this paper has good evaluation performance.
