Changes in Muscle Activity of the Serratus Anterior According to Surface Tilt Angle During Push-up Plus Exercise in Subjects With Winged Scapula

        Qian Gu,Tae-ho Kim,Jung-genn Chun 한국전문물리치료학회 2019 한국전문물리치료학회지 Vol.26 No.4

Background: The serratus anterior is one of the most important muscle for maintaining good scapular alignment in the shoulder joint. The pectoralis major and upper trapezius may also compensate for weak serratus anterior muscles. The push-up plus exercise has been identified as the optimal exercise for maximum activation of the serratus anterior. Objects: The purpose of this study was to examine differences in surface electromyography (EMG) activity of upper trapezius, pectoralis major, and serratus anterior muscles during push-up plus exercises on variously angled surfaces in subjects with winged scapula. Methods: Sixteen subjects with winged scapula (male=5, female=11) volunteered for this study. The subjects performed push-up plus exercise on four different tilt angles, namely 0˚, 30˚, 60˚, and 90˚. EMG activities in the serratus anterior, upper trapezius, and pectoralis major muscles during performance of push-up plus exercise were measured in all subjects. Data were processed from repeated measures one-way analysis of variance. Results: There was significant difference in the muscle activity of the serratus anterior on the different surface angles (p<.05). The results of the post-hoc analysis showed significantly greater serratus anterior muscle activity on a surface at a 0˚ angle than at others tilt angles (p<.05). There was also significant difference in the ratio of serratus anterior to upper trapezius and serratus anterior to pectoralis major across the four surfaces (p<.05), and post-hoc analysis showed significantly greater values on the 0˚ surface than on other tilts (p<.05). Conclusion: This study found that performing push-up plus exercises on a flat surface with 0˚ and 30˚ tilt angle achieves high activation of the serratus anterior muscle for selective strengthening. It can also take into account the sequential application, which is first performed at a 30˚ and at a 0˚ tilt angle for and effective but not excessive muscle activation.

Soil and ribbed concrete slab interface modeling using large shear box and 3D FEM

        Qian, Jian-Gu,Gao, Qian,Xue, Jian-feng,Chen, Hong-Wei,Huang, Mao-Song Techno-Press 2017 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.12 No.2

Cast in situ and grouted concrete helical piles with 150-200 mm diameter half cylindrical ribs have become an economical and effective choice in Shanghai, China for uplift piles in deep soft soils. Though this type of pile has been successful used in practice, the reinforcing mechanism and the contribution of the ribs to the total resistance is not clear, and there is no clear guideline for the design of such piles. To study the inclusion of ribs to the contribution of shear resistance, the shear behaviour between silty sand and concrete slabs with parallel ribs at different spacing and angles were tested in a large direct shear box ($600mm{\times}400mm{\times}200mm$). The front panels of the shear box are detachable to observe the soil deformation after the test. The tests were modelled with three-dimensional finite element method in ABAQUS. It was found that, passive zones can be developed ahead of the ribs to form undulated failure surfaces. The shear resistance and failure mode are affected by the ratio of rib spacing to rib diameter. Based on the shape and continuity of the failure zones at the interface, the failure modes at the interface can be classified as "punching", "local" or "general" shear failure respectively. With the inclusion of the ribs, the pull out resistance can increase up to 17%. The optimum rib spacing to rib diameter ratio was found to be around 7 based on the observed experimental results and the numerical modelling.

      • 論賈公彦《周禮注疏》對六朝舊說的沿襲與超越

顧遷(Gu Qian) 경북대학교 인문학술원 2009 동서사상 Vol.7 No.-

The imperial edited “Wujing Zhengyi” in Tang Zhen Guan years, was mostly based on the commentaries in Southern and Northern Dynasties and went a step further to make beforehand explanations. The “Zhou Li Zhu Shu” which was written by Jia Gongyan in Yong Hui years was also based on “Zhouguan Li Yi Shu” which was written by Shenzhong. This was the general character in the commentaries in the beginning of Tang dynasty. “Zhou Li Zhu Shu” was written by Jia himself, so it was more perfect compared to “Wujing Zhengyi” which was written by many person and the trace it revised the former “Shu” is not obvious. This article will carefully study to make the region it followed clear. “Wujing Zhengyi” extended the patterns of the former commentaries and displayed different meanings. So its function is very big, but its feature is limited. However, "Shu" briefly focused on the emphases, left the limitations from the former commentaries, so it surpassed the pattern of the commentaries in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. From hermeneutics, Jia “Shu” paid more attention to the value of the expositor’s own thinking, it is a departure from the method of the imperial edited “Zhengyi”. Maybe the effort of Jia is not conscious, but it objectively played a role in the transition between Tang and Song Confucian, and it reflects the subtle changes of the style of study after Early Tang Dynasty. Perhaps that was why it owned ZhuXi’s respect in Jiujing Zhengyi.

      • An Antiviral Mechanism Investigated with Ribavirin as an RNA Virus Mutagen for Foot-and-mouth Disease Virus

Gu, Chao-Jiang,Zheng, Cong-Yi,Zhang, Qian,Shi, Li-Li,Li, Yong,Qu, San-Fu Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2006 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.39 No.1

To prove whether error catastrophe /lethal mutagenesis is the primary antiviral mechanism of action of ribavirin against foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV). Ribavirin passage experiments were performed and supernatants of $Rp_1$ to $Rp_5$ were harvested. Morphological alterations as well as the levels of viral RNAs, proteins, and infectious particles in the BHK-21 cells infected using the supernatants of $Rp_1$ to $Rp_5$ and control were measured by microscope, real-time RT-PCR, western-blotting and plaque assays, respectively. The mutation frequency was measured by sequencing the complete P1- and 3D-encoding region of FMDV after a single round of virus infection from ribavirin-treated or untreated FMDV-infected cells. Ribavirin treatment for FMDV caused dramatically inhibition of multiplication in cell cultures. The levels of viral RNAs, proteins, and infectious particles in the BHK-21 cells infected were more greatly reduced along with the passage from $Rp_1$ to $Rp_5$, moreover, nucleocapsid protein could not be detected and no recovery of infectious virus in the supernatant or detection of intracellular viral RNA was observed at the $Rp_5$-infected cells. A high mutation rate, giving rise to an 8-and 11-fold increase in mutagenesis and resulting in some amino acid substitutions, was found in viral RNA synthesized at a single round of virus infection in the presence of ribavirin of $1000\;{\mu}M$ and caused a 99.7% loss in viral infectivity in contrast with parallel untreated control virus. These results suggest that the antiviral molecular mechanism of ribavirin is based on the lethal mutagenesis/error catastrophe, that is, the ribavirin is not merely an antiviral reagent but also an effective mutagen.

        Gu, Mo-Fa,Su, Yong,Chen, Xin-Lin,He, Wei-Ling,He, Zhen-Yu,Li, Jian-Jun,Chen, Miao-Qiu,Mo, Chuan-Wei,Xu, Qian,Diao, Yuan-Ming Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1

Purpose: the study aimed to compare the quality of life (QOL) and radiotherapy complications among Chinese nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients at different 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) stages adjusting for other variables. Methods: 511 NPC patients at different 3DCRT stages were enrolled. They were interviewed regarding SF-36, complications and socio-demographic variables and cancer- or treatment-related variables. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) based on SF-36, complications scores as dependent variables, 3DCRT stages as independent variables, and other variables as covariate were established. Results: The influencing factors of PCS included 3DCRT stages and age group. The influencing factors of MCS included 3DCRT stages and income. Most QOL scores of NPC patients were significantly associated with 3DCRT stage, after accounting for other variables. QOL scores of the patients receiving 3DCRT were the lowest, QOL scores of people after 3DCRT gradually increased. PCS scores of people greater than 5 years after 3DCRT was improved to or even better than the level before 3DCRT. The complications with significantly different scores of patients at different 3DCRT status included xerostomia, throat ache, hypogeusia, caries, hearing loss, snuffles. Conclusions: Clinicians should pay more attention to older NPC patients and patients with lower income. When patients receive 3DCRT, measures should be taken to reduce radiation injury to improve the patients' QOL.

      • Site-specific N-glycosylation identification of recombinant human lectin-like oxidized low density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1)

        Yifan Qian,Xingwang Zhang,Lei Zhou,Shifang Ren,Jianxin Gu 한국당과학회 2012 한국당과학회 학술대회 Vol.2012 No.1

Human LOX-1/OLR 1 plays a key role in atherogenesis and endothelial dysfunction. The N-glycosylation of LOX-1 has been shown to affect its biological functions in vivo and modulate the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. However, the N-glycosylation pattern of LOX-1 has not been described yet. The present study was aimed at elucidating the N-glycosylation of recombinanthuman LOX-1 with regard to N-glycan profile and N-glycosylation sites. Here, an approach using nonspecific protease (Pronase E) digestion followed by MALDI-QIT-TOF MS and multistage MS (MS3) analysis is explored to obtain site-specificN- glycosylation information of recombinanthuman LOX-1, in combination with glycan structure confirmation through characterizing released glycans using tandem MS. The results reveal that N-glycans structures as well as their corresponding attached site of LOX-1 can be identified simultaneously by direct MS analysis of glycopeptides from non-specific protease digestion. With this approach, one potential glycosylation site of recombinanthuman LOX-1 on Asn139 is readily identified and found to carry heterogeneous complex type N-glycans. In addition, manual annotation of multistage MS data utilizing diagnostic ions, which were found to be particularly useful in defining the structure of glycopeptides and glycans was addressed for proper spectra interpretation. The findings described herein will shed new light on further research of the structure-function relationships of LOX-1 N-glycan.

Automatic resonant frequency tracking for DCX‑LLC based on magnetizing current cancellation

        Cheng Gu,Qinsong Qian,Dalin Xu,Tianhao Tan 전력전자학회 2024 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.24 No.1

The LLC resonant converter has been widely used as a DC-DC transformer (DCX) to provide a semi-regulated or unregulated bus voltage. However, due to circuit parameter variations, the switching frequency is usually different from the designed resonant frequency, which results in converter efficiency degradation. To achieve the highest efficiency under different scenarios, a novel primary-side regulation (PSR) scheme for LLCs based on magnetizing current cancellation is presented. The transformer magnetizing current component on the sampling resistor can be offset by the compensating current, which is generated by the auxiliary winding and the added compensating inductor. The effect of magnetizing current in the sampled primary resonant current can be effectively eliminated. Thus, the output current can be accurately estimated on the primary side of the LLC resonant converter. Finally, a prototype of a 20-60 V LLC is constructed to validate the theoretical analysis. In the experiment section, various scenarios are tested to assess the efficacy of the solution. It is shown that the LLC converter can always realize resonant frequency tracking with the highest transmission efficiency.

Novel central‑tapped planar transformer structure with natural current‑sharing for LLC resonant converters

        Cheng Gu,Qinsong Qian,Dalin Xu,Tianhao Tan 전력전자학회 2023 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.9

Planar transformers have been widely used in isolated power supplies. However, with a large current density, the parallel windings usually cannot share the current evenly. This uneven current-sharing may cause additional winding losses, and damage the performance of the power converter. In this paper, a novel central-tapped planar transformer structure is proposed. Regardless of whether it is in the first half cycle or the second half cycle, the proposed twelve-layer transformer can be simplified as four three-layer transformers connected in parallel. Moreover, there is a “shielding layer” between adjacent three-layer transformers. In addition, the proposed transformer structure is optimized with a symmetrical layer arrangement, and the skin effect and proximity effect can be further reduced. Simulation and experimental tests indicate that the optimized planar transformer can stably provide 476.1 W of output power at a frequency of 1.25 MHz. The peak efficiency of the optimized transformer is up to 99.2%, and there is no obvious hot spot on the PCB board. It is noteworthy that the temperature difference in the secondary windings is less than 5 °C, which means the current-sharing in the secondary windings works well.
