<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Introduction</B></P> <P>Respiratory dysfunction and complications are the most common causes of death in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. This study observed the changes of respiratory physiology parameters during intravenous laser irradiation (ILI) treatment on ALS patients.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>Eighteen ALS patients received ILI treatment four times a week for 2 weeks. The end tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO<SUB>2</SUB>), respiratory rate (RR), saturation of peripheral oxygen (SpO<SUB>2</SUB>) and pulse rate were measured for 15min before and during treatment by using capnography and oxymetry. For estimating the mechnism of ILI on respiratory function, we evaluated the LF (low frequency)/HF (high frequency) ratio of heart rate variability (HRV).</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>The results showed that RR, SpO<SUB>2</SUB> and pulse were significantly reduced during ILI (<I>p</I> <.001). But the change of SpO<SUB>2</SUB> and pulse value during ILI were significantly increased (<I>p</I> =.014<.05, <I>p </I>=.003<.01). LF (low frequency)/HF(high frequency) ratio value was significantly increased during ILI (<I>p</I> =.045<.05).</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>ILI led to a statistically significant difference in SpO<SUB>2</SUB> and pulse changes in ALS patients despite the supine position. These results seem to be caused by an ILI’s action to stimulate the sympathetic nervous system and modulate hyperkinetic hemodynamics. But, in order to clarify these results, a well designed study is now required.</P>

<P>Tumor cells have an invasive and metastatic phenotype that is the main cause of death for cancer patients. Tumor establishment and penetration consists of a series of complex processes involving multiple changes in gene expression. In this study, intraperitoneal administration of a high concentration of ascorbic acid inhibited tumor establishment and increased survival of BALB/C mice implanted with S-180 sarcoma cancer cells. To identify proteins involved in the ascorbic acid-mediated inhibition of tumor progression, changes in the liver proteome associated with ascorbic acid treatment of BALB/C mice implanted with S-180 were investigated using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. Eleven protein spots were identified whose expression was different between control and ascorbic acid treatment groups. In particular, Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) and annexin A5 expression were quantitatively up-regulated. The increase in RKIP protein level was detected in the tumor tissue and accompanied by an increase in mRNA level. Infrared Thermography Characterization of Defects in Seamless Pipes Using an Infrared Reflector

Infrared thermography uses infrared energy radiated from any objects above absolute zero temperature, and the range of its application has been constantly broadened. As one of the active test techniques detecting radiant energy generated when energy is applied to an object, ultrasound infrared thermography is a method of detecting defects through hot spots occurring at a defect area when 15~100 kHz of ultrasound is excited to an object. This technique is effective in detecting a wide range affected by ultrasound and vibration in real time. Especially, it is really effective when a defect area is minute. Therefore, this study conducted thermography through lock-in signal processing when an actual defect exists inside the austenite STS304 seamless pipe, which simulates thermal fatigue cracks in a nuclear power plant pipe. With ultrasound excited, this study could detect defects on the rear of a pipe by using an aluminium reflector. Besides, by regulating the angle of the aluminium reflector, this study could detect both front and rear defects as a single infrared thermography image.
위상잠금 초음파 적외선열화상에 의한 겹치기 마찰교반용접부의 결함 평가

겹치기 마찰교반용접은 새로운 고상접합법이다. 알루미늄 합금 6061-T6는 좋은 내식성과 중량 대비 높은 기계적 강도로 인해 넓은 분야에서 경량부재로 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서 사용한 검사 방법인 위상잠금 초음파 적외선열화상기법은 넓은 면적을 동시에 검사할 수 있으며, 결함부와 건전부 사이의 위상차로부터 결함의 유무를 판단할 수 있다. 본고의 연구로부터, 위상잠금 적외선열화상기술을 이용하여 용접부의 열영상을 검출하여 기계적 강도와 비교 평가하였다. Lap joint friction stir welding(LFSW) is an relatively new solid state joining process. A6061-T6 aluminium alloy has gathered wide acceptance in the fabrication of light weight structures requiring a high strength to weight ratio and good corrosion resistance. Test methods used in this paper, lock-in thermography, a phase difference between the defect area and the healthy area indicates the qualitative location and size of the defect. In this paper, the defects detected from the thermal image of mechanical properties for weld were evaluated and compared by the lock-in infrared thermography technique.
초음파 적외선 열화상을 이용한 접합부의 미세균열 검출 연구

본 논문은 초음파 적외선 열화상과 위상잠금 방법을 이용하여 이종금속용접(STS304 and SA106 Gr. b)된 파이프의 응력부식균열 결함을 검출하였다. 초음파 가진장치는 출력 250 Watt, 주파수 20 kHz이었다. 실험 결과 이종금속용접부의 파이프 내부에 위치한 균열을 적외선 열화상을 이용하여 검출할 수 있었다. 실제 PT검사를 통하여 배관 내부의 균열이 하나가 아닌 일정한 범위 안에 하나 이상의 크랙이 존재하여 열화상 이미지 상에 넓은 범위의 hot spot 이미지를 만들어 냈음을 파악할 수 있었다. 또한 기존 기술로 검출이 용이하지 못한 마이크로 폭의 미세균열을 검출할 수 있었다. 또한, 초음파탐상기술은 10 ㎛ 미세크랙의 폭을 갖은 균열을 쉽게 검출하지 못하였다. 그러나 초음파 적외선 열화상 기술은 결함 검출하였다. This study detected SCC defects of dissimilar metal welded(STS304 and SA106 Gr. b) pipes using the ultrasonic infrared thermography method and the lock-in image treatment method among infrared thermography method. The infrared excitement equipment has 250 Watt of output and 20 kHz of frequency. By using the ultrasound infrared thermography method, the internal defects of dissimilar metal weld joints of pipes used at nuclear power plants could get detected. By an actual PT test, it was observed that the cracks inside the pipe existed not as a single crack but rather as a multiple cracks within a certain area and generated a hot spot image of a broad area on the thermography image. In addition, UT technology could not easily defects detected by the width of 10 ㎛ fine hair cracks. but, ultrasound infrared thermography technique was defect detected.
적외선 열화상 기술을 이용한 복합재료의 결함 검출 정량화 연구

본 논문에서는 현재 산업 전반에 널리 사용되고 있는 복합재료(탄소섬유강화플라스틱, 유리섬유강화플라스틱)의 비파괴검사를 위한 광적외선 열화상기법을 이용한 복합재료 측정 표준기술개발을 위한 결함(인클루젼, 층간결함) 검출 기술을 실험하였다. 결합의 검출률을 높이기 위하여 위상잠금 방법을 활용하였다. 결과는 시험편의 두께에 따라 광원의 조사시간을 늘릴 경우 결함 검출의 확률이 높아진다는 것을 알 수 있다. 하지만 50 mHz 이하의 광원을 가하였을 때에도 결과값이 좋아지지 않는 점은 열확산이 재료 전체에 영향을 미치게 되면 결함 부위가 전체적으로 열평형 상태가 되어 결함 검출이 어려움을 파악할 수 있었다. In this paper, infrared thermography measurement technique has been used to develop standard measurement technique for nondestructive testing of composite materials which is widely used in aerospace industries. To increase the defect detection rate, the related experiment used the lock-in IR-thermographiy method. Therefore it is of considerable interest in the field of non-destructive testing for fast discontinuity detection by using ultrasonic lock-in infrared thermography. The result also shows that as the investigation period of light source is lengthened according to the thickness of specimen, the possibility of detecting defects gets higher as well. However, the reason why the result values were not favorable when less than 50 mHz of light source was provided is because it was difficult to detect defects as the defect parts became a state of thermal equilibrium in general when thermal diffusivity affects the entire materials.

초음파 적외선 비파괴 열화상 검사기술의 발열 메커니즘은 정확히 규명되지 않았으나, 열-기계 연성효과와 결함 계면 사이의 마찰효과가 주요한 원인인 것으로 추정되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 피로균열을 갖는 알루미늄 합금 시험편에서 결함을 검출하고, 실험조건으로부터 각각의 메커니즘에 따라 온도 변화를 수치 예측하였다. 시험결과와 수치예측 결과로부터 발열의 주요한 원인이 마찰이라는 것을 밝혔다. Heat generation mechanism of ultrasound infrared thermography is still not well understood, yet and there are two reliable assumptions of heat generation, friction and thermo-mechanical effect. This paper investigates the principal cause of heat generation at fatigue crack with experimental and numerical approach. Our results show most of heat generation is contributed by friction between crack interface and thermo-mechanical effect is a negligible quantity.

디지털적 상황의 전개에 의하여 문화의 경계현상은 사라지고 새로운 양상들이 나타나고 있다. 그런데 그러한 디지털적 양상이 이전과는 다른 것이 아니라 이전에 서로 상이한 영역에 있었던 것의 결합으로 생성되고 있다. 이것은 다분히 포스트모던의 성과로 새로움에 대한 새로운 정의가 필요로 하게 되었다. 그것이 서로 반대적 혹은 이질적 개념이 결합되어 브랜드의 가치를 높이는 크로스오버(Crossover)적 현상인 것이다. 이것은 경계의 해체와 새로운 융합(Convergence)의 커뮤니케이션으로 인간의 감성에 더욱더 호소하고 가치창출을 하는 전략에 적극적으로 활용되는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이러한 크로스오버적인 것은 음악에서 먼저 시작되어 패션과 자동차디자인에서도 나타나고 있다. 그리하여 본 소고에서는 광고디자인에서 나타난 크로스오버적 양상을 살펴보고자 한다. 그리하여 자유롭고 이질적인 비교의 대상을 결함 속에서 가장 인간적이고 새로운 감성으로 충족시키는 결과를 고찰하고자 한다.
