Magnetic Study of Heavily Mn-doped CuO Thin Films

        L. Li,B. Lv,J. Z. Cai,W. Q. Zou,X. S. Wu,F. M. Zhang 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.10

Cu0.7Mn0.3O films were deposited by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition and annealed in different atmospheres. The XRD diffraction results indicate that samples annealed in air and N2 both show pure CuO phases, while the film annealed in O2 has a secondary phase CuMn2O4. The content of Mn was confirmed by Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The M-T and M-H curves show that the average magnetic moment of the films prepared in O2 is larger than those prepared in air and in N2 atmosphere. Ferromagnetic segments Mn-O-Cu-O-Mn can be used to understand the ferromagnetism of CuO under heavily Mn-doping. And the magnetic moment per Mn ions calculated on the base of this chain model is consistent with the experimental result.

Intestinal Development and Function of Broiler Chickens on Diets Supplemented with Clinoptilolite

        Wu, Q.J.,Zhou, Y.M.,Wu, Y.N.,Wang, T. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.7

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of natural clinoptilolite (NCLI) and modified clinoptilolite (MCLI) on broiler performance, gut morphology, intestinal length and weight, and gut digestive enzyme activity. A total of 240 d-old male chicks were randomly assigned to 3 treatments, each of which comprised 8 pens of 10 chicks per pen. Birds in the control group were fed the basal diet, while those in the experimental groups were fed diets supplemented with NCLI at 2% (NCLI group), or MCLI at 2% (MCLI group), respectively, for 42 d. Compared with the control, supplementation with NCLI or MCLI had no significant (p>0.05) effects on productive parameters from d 1 to 42. Supplementation with NCLI or MCLI had no influence on the relative length and weight of small intestine at d 1 to 21. But supplementation with NCLI or MCLI significantly reduced the relative weight of duodenum. Supplementation with MCLI and NCLI was associated with greater (p<0.05) villus height in the jejunal and ileal mucosa compared with those areas in the controls from d 1 to 42. However, supplementation with NCLI and MCLI had no significant (p>0.05) influence on the crypt depth in the jejunal and ileal mucosa compared with those in the controls. The addition of either NCLI or MCLI to the diet improved the activities of total protease, and amylase in the small intestinal contents. In conclusion, supplementation with NCLI or MCLI in diets improved intestinal morphology, increased the intestinal length and weigh and gut digestive enzyme activity.

432-μm Laser’s Beam-waist Measurement for the Polarimeter/Interferometer on the EAST Tokamak

        Z. X. Wang,H. Q. Liu,Y. X. Jie,M. Q. Wu,T. Lan,X. Zhu,Z. Y. Zou,Y. Yang,X. C. Wei,L. Zeng,G. S. Li,X. Gao 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.65 No.8

A far-infrared (FIR) polarimeter/interferometer (PI) system is under development for measurementsof the current-density and the electron-density profiles in the EAST tokamak. The systemwill utilize three identical 432-μm CHCOOH lasers pumped by a CO2 laser. Measurements of thelaser beam’s waist size and position are basic works. This paper will introduce three methods witha beam profiler and several focusing optical elements. The beam profiler can be used to show thespatial energy distribution of the laser beam. The active area of the profiler is 12.4 × 12.4 mm2. Some focusing optical elements are needed to focus the beam in order for the beam profiler toreceive the entire laser beam. Two principles and three methods are used in the measurement. Thefirst and the third methods are based on the same principle, and the second method adopts an otherprinciple. Due to the fast and convenient measurement, although the first method is a special formof the third and it can only give the size of beam waist, it is essential to the development of theexperiment and it can provide guidance for the choices of the sizes of the optical elements in the nextstep. A concave mirror, a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lens and a polymethylpentene (TPX)lens are each used in the measurement process. The results of these methods are close enough forthe design of PI system’s optical path.

      • Several factors affecting hypericin production of Hypericum perforatum during adventitious root culture in airlift bioreactors

        Wu, S. Q.,Yu, X. K.,Lian, M. L.,Park, S. Y.,Piao, X. C. POLISH ACADEMY SCIENCES WARSAW 2014 Acta physiologiae plantarum Vol.36 No.4

Hypericum perforatum L. is a traditional medicinal plant for the treatment of depression and wound healing, and hypericin is one of the main effective active substances. To optimize the culture system for producing hypericin in adventitious root, this study used balloon-type airlift bioreactors to investigate the effect of air volume, inoculation density, indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) concentration and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) concentration on hypericin content and productivity during adventitious root culture. Hypericin content and productivity were improved with increasing air volume, and 0.1 vvm (air volume/culture volume/min) was optimal for hypericin production. Inoculation density also had a great effect on hypericin accumulation. Hypericin content and productivity were favorable in an inoculation density of 5.0 g l(-1) and decreased when inoculation densities were lower or higher than 5.0 g l(-1). Furthermore, 1.25 mg l(-1) IBA enhanced hypericin content and productivity, but too low (a parts per thousand currency sign0.50 mg l(-1)) or too high (a parts per thousand yen1.50 mg l(-1)) IBA concentrations decreased hypericin accumulation. MeJA concentration significantly affected biomass accumulation and hypericin production. The biomass decreased and hypericin production increased with increasing MeJA concentration. Optimum hypericin content (1.61 mg g(-1) DW) and productivity (15.57 mg l(-1)) were obtained at 350 mu M MeJA. The hypericin content in bioreactor-grown adventitious roots was lower than in 3-year field-grown plants, but significantly higher than that in in vitro-grown plantlets and 1-year field-grown plants. Thus, the bioreactor culture of adventitious roots can realize rapid and mass production of hypericin in H. perforatum.

      • The effect of spin reorientation transition of antiferromagnetic NiO on the Py magnetic anisotropy in Py/NiO/CoO/MgO(0 0 1)

        Yang, M.,Li, Q.,N'Diaye, A.T.,Dong, Q.Y.,Gao, N.,Arenholz, E.,Hwang, C.,Wu, Y.Z.,Qiu, Z.Q. Elsevier 2018 Journal of magnetism and magnetic materials Vol.460 No.-

Then utilizing Magneto-Optic Kerr Effect (MOKE) combined with a rotation magnetic field (ROTMOKE), we investigated the effect of NiO SRT on the magnetic anisotropy of a ferromagnetic (FM) Py overlayer in Py/NiO/CoO/MgO(0 0 1) system. We find that the Py coercivity and anisotropy only slightly enhanced for Py on top of out-of-plane NiO spins but greatly enhanced for Py on top of in-plane NiO spins. Both the uniaxial and fourfold anisotropies of the Py showed a clear dependence on the NiO spin orientation.

Highlights

Spin reorientation transition (SRT) of antiferromagnetic NiO.

Direct measurement of antiferromagnetic spins using XMLD.

Quantitative determination of Py magnetic anisotropy using ROTMOKE.

Demonstration of the effect of the NiO SRT on the Py magnetic anisotropy.

Improvement of lower hybrid current drive systems for high-power and long-pulse operation on EAST

        Wang M.,Liu L.,Zhao L.M.,Li M.H.,Ma W.D.,Hu H.C.,Wu Z.G.,Feng J.Q.,Yang Y.,Zhu L.,Chen M.,Zhou T.A.,Jia H.,Zhang J.,Cao L.,Zhang L.,Liang R.R.,Ding B.J.,Zhang X.J.,Shan J.F.,Liu F.K.,Ekedahl A.,Gonich 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.11

Aiming at high-power and long-pulse operation up to 1000 s, some improvements have been made for both 2.45 GHz and 4.6 GHz lower hybrid (LH) systems during the recent 5 years. At first, the guard limiters of the LH antennas with graphite tiles were upgraded to tungsten, the most promising material for plasma facing components in nuclear fusion devices. These new guard limiters can operate at a peak power density of 12.9 MW/m2 . Strong hot spots were usually observed on the old graphite limiters when 4.6 GHz system operated with power >2.0 MW [B. N. Wan et al., Nucl. Fusion 57 (2017) 102019], leading to a reduction of the maximum power capability. With the new limiters, 4.6 GHz LH system, the main current drive (CD) and electron heating tool for EAST, can be operated with power >2.5 MW routinely. Long-pulse operation up to 100 s with 4.6 GHz LH power of 2.4 MW was achieved in 2021 and the maximal temperature on the guard limiters measured by an infrared (IR) camera was about 540 C, much below the permissible value of tungsten material (~1200 C). A discharge with a duration of 1056 s was achieved and the 4.6 GHz LH energy injected into the plasma was up to 1.05 GJ. Secondly, the fully-activemultijunction (FAM) launcher of 2.45 GHz system was upgraded to a passive-active-multijunction (PAM), for which the density of optimum coupling was relatively low (below the cut-off value). Good coupling with reflection coefficient ~3% has been achieved with plasma-antenna distance up to 11 cm for the new PAM. Finally, in order to eliminate the effect of ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) wave on 4.6 GHz LH wave coupling, the location of the ICRF launcher was changed to a port that is located 157.5 toroidally from the 4.6 GHz LH system and is not magnetically connected

Short-circuiting in fullerene devices studied by in situ electrical measurement in high vacuum and infrared imaging analysis?

        H.R. Wu,M.L. Wang,Q.L. Song,Y. Wu,Z.T. Xie,X.D. Gao,X.M. Ding,X.Y. Hou 한국물리학회 2007 Current Applied Physics Vol.7 No.3

In the present work, currentvoltage (IV) characteristics of fullerene devices (ITOnC60nAl) are reexamined byin situelectrical mea-surement in high vacuum and by infrared imaging analysis. Two kinds ofIV curves are detected: ‘ohmic’ and nonohmic. Degradationprocesses of the two dierent devices are measured, and ‘ohmic’ degradation processes are ascribed to short-circuiting. ITOnC60nAldevices in high vacuum are conrmed to be intrinsically nonohmic. Surface temperature distribution of the two dierent devices is mea-buers are inserted between fullerene layer and cathode and this is found to be eective.

Marker-Assisted Mating Applied in In-Situ Conservation of Indigenous Animals in Small Populations : (1) Choosing Mating Schemes for Maximum Heterozygosity

        Wu, X.L.,Liu, R.Z.,Shi, Q.S.,Liu, X.C.,Li, X.,Wu, M.S. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.4

Maintaining maximum genetic variability is of critical importance with in-situ conservation of animal species in small populations. Marker-assisted mating (MAM) was suggested to achieve maximum heterozygosity in offspring populations. The aims of this research was to investigate and decide the effectiveness and promising types of MAM to achieve this goal. Analysis of variance with simulation data revealed that the heterozygosity in offspring populations was significantly determined by sire heterozygosity from mating of non-inbred parent animals, and significantly by sire heterozygosity and percent parental difference in offspring reproduced by inbred parents. Seven types of marker-assisted mating schemes were examined, in which offspring exhibited heterozygosity that was -0.01 to 7.37% below or above that from random mating of non-inbred parent animals, and 0.00 to 16.39% above that from random mating of inbred parent animals. The great increase in offspring heterozygosity was observed with mating by tandem maximizing sire heterozygosity, percent parental difference, and dam heterozygosity. Random mating resulted in fluctuation of offspring heterozygosity. These results suggested that MAM was a promising method for maintaining maximum offspring variability in in-situ conservation of animal species in small populations.
