<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>On the basis of deguelin, a series of the B,C-ring truncated surrogates with <I>N</I>-substituted amide linkers were investigated as HSP90 inhibitors. The structure activity relationship of the template was studied by incorporating various substitutions on the nitrogen of the amide linker and examining their HIF-1α inhibition. Among them, compound <B>57</B> showed potent HIF-1α inhibition and cytotoxicity in triple-negative breast cancer lines in a dose-dependent manner. Compound <B>57</B> downregulated expression and phosphorylation of major client proteins of HSP90 including AKT, ERK and STAT3, indicating that its antitumor activity was derived from the inhibition of HSP90 function. The molecular modeling of <B>57</B> demonstrated that <B>57</B> bound well to the C-terminal ATP-binding pocket in the open conformation of the <I>h</I>HSP90 homodimer with hydrogen bonding and pi-cation interactions. Overall, compound <B>57</B> is a potential antitumor agent for triple-negative breast cancer as a HSP90 C-terminal inhibitor.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Solution-processed oxide gate dielectrics play an important in thin-film transistors (TFTs), determining their operation voltage, device performance and power consumption. Up to now, various solution-processed oxide gate dielectrics such as aluminum oxide (Al2O3) have been surveyed, however, they generally exhibit relatively high leakage current, low dielectric constant, and hysteresis which are unfavorable for stable device operation. Here, we demonstrate solution-processed lanthanum (La)-doped Al2O3 (LAO) gate dielectrics which exhibit low leakage current density, high dielectric constant, and relatively small frequency-dependent capacitance variation. In order to find the optimal doping concentration of lanthanum in Al2O3 film, various electrical, morphological, and spectroscopic analyses were carried out. We found that the addition of lanthanum in Al2O3 film effectively reduced the defective metal hydroxide bonding states within the film and significantly enhanced its dielectric characteristics. At an optimal doping concentration of lanthanum (20 at.%), gate dielectrics showing leakage current density, dielectric constant, and breakdown field of ~10−8 A/cm2 (at 2 MV/cm), 10.5, and >5 MV/cm were obtained. Using the LAO film as a gate dielectric, solution-processed indium-zinc-oxide TFTs having a field-effect mobility of 11.9 cm2/V-s, subthreshold slope of 0.38 V/dec, and on/off ratio of 104–105 were demonstrated.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Lanthanum-doped Al2O3 gate dielectrics were fabricated by using a solution process. </LI> <LI> The lanthanum doping enhanced the dielectric properties of Al2O3 films. </LI> <LI> Solution-processed indium-zinc-oxide thin-film transistors were demonstrated. </LI> </UL> </P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, we investigated the strontium doping effects on the electrical and physical characteristics of solution-processed aluminum oxide dielectric layer and its application to low-voltage-operated indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (IGZO) thin-film transistors (TFTs). With an optimized doping concentration of strontium (5at%) in aluminum oxide (Al2O3), an oxide gate dielectric layer having a dielectric constant of ~7 and low leakage current characteristics (~4 × 10−7 A/cm2 at 3MV/cm) could be achieved by a solution process, which are comparably better than those of pristine Al2O3 film. The enhanced dielectric properties from strontium doping can be attributed to the change in the physical properties of Al2O3 film incorporated with strontium, providing charge relaxation of defect states in Al2O3 film. Also, since the strontium is highly reactive with oxygen, the strontium substitution through a doping leads to more strongly bound structure in an Al2O3 film without considerable lattice distortion. Using the strontium-doped aluminum oxide film as a gate dielectric layer, having a thickness less than 10nm, solution-processed IGZO TFTs operating at ≤ 1V were demonstrated showing a field-effect mobility of 1.74 ± 1.10cm2/Vs and an on-current level of ~10−5 A.</P>
Retinoid Metabolism in the Degeneration of Pten-Deficient Mouse Retinal Pigment Epithelium
Kim, You-Joung,Park, Sooyeon,Ha, Taejeong,Kim, Seungbeom,Lim, Soyeon,You, Han,Kim, Jin Woo Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology 2021 Molecules and cells Vol.44 No.8
In vertebrate eyes, the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) provides structural and functional homeostasis to the retina. The RPE takes up retinol (ROL) to be dehydrogenated and isomerized to 11-cis-retinaldehyde (11-cis-RAL), which is a functional photopigment in mammalian photoreceptors. As excessive ROL is toxic, the RPE must also establish mechanisms to protect against ROL toxicity. Here, we found that the levels of retinol dehydrogenases (RDHs) are commonly decreased in phosphatase tensin homolog (Pten)-deficient mouse RPE, which degenerates due to elevated ROL and that can be rescued by feeding a ROL-free diet. We also identified that RDH gene expression is regulated by forkhead box O (FOXO) transcription factors, which are inactivated by hyperactive Akt in the Pten-deficient mouse RPE. Together, our findings suggest that a homeostatic pathway comprising PTEN, FOXO, and RDH can protect the RPE from ROL toxicity.

<P>To optimize the firm’s profit during a finite planning horizon, a dynamic programming model is used to make joint pricing and inventory replenishment decision assuming that customers are loss averse and the firm is risk averse. We model the loss averse customer’s demand using the multinomial choice model. In this choice model, we consider the acquisition and transition utilities widely used by a mental accounting theory which also incorporate the reference price and actual price. Then, we show that there is an optimal inventory policy which is base-stock policy depending on the accumulated wealth in each period.</P>

The aim of this research is to provide the ways of implementation of the theories in service operations management to the fields of art and cultural management and, furthermore, to suggest the directions of the future research, by exploring the current achievements through literature review and case study. The portion of the service industry keeps growing. This makes the competition among different types of service industries and inside the industry severe. By realizing this current trend, art and cultural organizations are also eager to find the new directions of their management. Service operations management provides service firms with the methods of design, operations and control of business processes. This enables the firms to offer the maximum value to their customers in an efficient way, and this is aligned with what the art and cultural organizations pursue. Among the organizations in art and culture, we focus on art museums. We find and suggest the theories in service operations management that can be applied to the management of the art museums. We provide current research and cases studies of implementing the methods and theories such as strategic service vision, queuing theory, revenue management, SERVQUAL, data envelopment analysis, and customer experience management. Finally, we suggest future research.
