Rotation of intake and exhaust valves are very closely related to the long term durability of automotive engines. If the valves do not rotate even at a rated engine speed, it causes the uneven wear of the valve seat and valve head contact area. which eventually shortens the engine life. A principle of valve rotation mechanism was presumed based on some findings from experiments, and computer programs were developed to simulate the valve rotation phenomena. In this study we investigated the valve rotation mechanism by using the computer simulation models.

Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by contamination of wounds from the bacteria Clostridium tetani, or the spores. Generalized tetanus can be fatal when the muscles used to breathe can spasm, but local tetanus manifests with muscle spasms at or near the infected wound. The most of local tetanus restore function without complication, but some of local tetanus can be accomplished with peripheral neuropathy during or after infection. We report a case of peripheral neuropathy after tetanus local infection.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Dicyanophenyl derivatives, <B>DCN1</B>–<B>3</B>, were rationally synthesized and their thermally activated delayed fluorescence properties were investigated. OLED devices were further fabricated using <B>DCN1</B>–<B>3</B>. Particularly <B>DCN3</B> (5-{3,6-di(9<I>H</I>-carbazole-9-yl)-9<I>H-</I>carbazol-9-yl}isophthalonitrile) showed excellent device performances employing TADF mechanism with power efficiency of 15.26Cd/A, luminous efficiency of 8.14lm/W, the maximum external quantum efficiency of 13.33%, and brightness of 1526Cd/m<SUP>2</SUP>.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A series of carbazole containing DCN were synthesized as potential OLED dopants. </LI> <LI> <B>DCN3</B> displayed a clear delayed fluorescence component with a lifetime of 3.26μs. </LI> <LI> A twisted structure between donor and acceptor may facilitate a long lifetime. </LI> <LI> OLED device of <B>DCN3</B> showed excellent device performances with PE of 15.26Cd/A. </LI> <LI> It shows the maximum EQE of 13.33%, and brightness of 1526Cd/m<SUP>2</SUP>. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
Assembled Monolayers of Hydrophilic Particles on Water Surfaces

<P>A facile and quick approach to prepare self-assembled monolayers of water-dispersible particles on the water surface is presented. Particle suspensions in alcohols were dropped on a water reservoir to form long-range ordered monolayers of various particles, including spherical solid particles, soft hydrogel particles, metal nanoparticles, quantum dots, nanowires, single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), nanoplates, and nanosheets. A systematic study was conducted on the variables affecting the monolayer assembly: the solubility parameter of spreading solvents, particle concentration, zeta potential of the particles in the suspension, surface tension of the water phase, hardness of the particles, and addition of a salt in the suspension. This method requires no hydrophobic surface treatment of the particles, which is useful to exploit these monolayer films without changing the native properties of the particles. 우리 나라 주가지수 선물시장의 효율성과 위험수익에 관한 실증연구

우리 나라는 자본시장 국제화에 따른 방안으로 1996년 주가지수 선물을 도입한 바 있다. 이 논문은 우리 나라 주가지수 선물시장의 실제 거래자료를 이용하여 선물시장이 선물거래자의 참여를 유도할 만한 위험수익을 제공하는지를 중심으로 선물시장의 효율성 여부를 실증분석한다. 이 논문의 분석법이 기존의 연구와 다른 점은 주가지수 선물시장에서 적용되고 있는 가격변동제한제도를 명시적으로 고려하여 실증분석하였다는 점이다. 즉, 이 연구는 가격변동제한제도를 모형화하고 가격변동제한폭의 적용으로 인한 단절편의(censoring bias)를 피하기 위하여 two-limit Tobit MLE를 적용하여 위험수익의 존재 여부를 검정하였다. 검정결과, 우리 나라 주가선물시장에는 통계적으로 유의한 수준의 위험수익이 발견되지 않았으나, 시장의 효율성은 보장되지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 유의할 점은 가격제한폭을 무시하고 단순회귀분석으로 동일한 자료를 실증분석할 경우에는 단절편의로 인한 오류의 가능성이존재한다는 것이다. 이 연구는 단순회귀분석의 결과를 two-limit Tobit MLE의 결과와 비교함으로써 가격제한폭으로 인한 검정결과의 오류가능성을 분석한다. This paper tests on the existence of risk premium of KOSPI 200 futures market in Korea and the efficiency of the market. Unlike the previous studies, we employ the two-limit Tobit MLE for the estimation, to explicitly incorporate the effects of price change limits in Korean futures market. The results show that there does not exist statistically significant risk premium in the KOSPI 200 futures market, but the futures market may not be efficient. We also show that methodology of estimation is important, as the potential censoring bias problem is not negligible.

This paper presents an efficient embedded environment using Core-A processor. Compared to the previous Core-A system, proposed system is more attractive for system developers by adopting monitor based on-chip debug system. Core-B system bus is used to system integration and a simple timer is also introduce for the small operating system. The operation of proposed environment is carefully verified with the FPGA board. Proposed embedded system is fabricated with 0.13um process and the overall clock speed achieves more than 250MHz at the cost of 223k gate counts.

Background: With the introduction of Xpert MTB/RIF assay (Xpert), its incorporation into tuberculosis (TB) diagnosticalgorithm has become an important issue. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of the Xpert assay incomparison with a commercial polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. Methods: Medical records of patients having results of both Xpert and AdvanSure TB/NTM real-time PCR (AdvanSure)assays using the same bronchial washing specimens were retrospectively reviewed. Results: Of the 1,297 patients included in this study, 205 (15.8%) were diagnosed with pulmonary TB. Usingmycobacterial culture as the reference method, sensitivity of the Xpert assay using smear-positive specimens was 97.5%,which was comparable to that of the AdvanSure assay (96.3%, p=0.193). However, the sensitivity of the Xpert assay usingsmear-negative specimens was 70.6%, which was significantly higher than that of the AdvanSure assay (52.9%, p=0.018). Usng phenotypic drug susceptibility testing as the reference method, sensitivity and specificity for detecting rifampicinresistance were 100% and 99.1%, respectively. Moreover, a median turnaround time of the Xpert assay was 1 day, whichwas significantly shorter than 3 days of the AdvanSure assay (p<0.001). Conclusion: In comparison with the AdvanSure assay, the Xpert assay had a higher sensitivity using smear-negativespecimens, a shorter turnaround time, and could reliably predict rifampin resistance. Therefore, the Xpert assay might bepreferentially recommended over TB-PCR in Korean TB diagnostic algorithm.
