Nutrients in the substrate are important for plant growth, particularly during the development of vegetableseedlings. The continued development of intensive methods to produce seedlings has made growing healthy and high-gradeseedlings a requirement for nurseries. This study evaluated the effect of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium(K) on the root activity, dry weight, and chlorophyll content in leaves of Brassica oleracea seedlings. D-optimal designwas used in this study because of its accuracy. A total of 10 treatments (T1–T10) were designed, and differentconcentrations were chosen in the following ranges: N (0.6-5.0 g·kg-1), P (0.2-6.0 g·kg-1), and K (0.7-7.0 g·kg-1). Our studyshows that the application of N, P, and K to the substrate significantly influenced the growth of B. oleracea seedlings. T6significantly increased root activity, root dry weight, chlorophyll content in leaves when compared with the control T1,which had added nutrient concentrations at normal levels. However, the addition of high levels of N (5.0 g·kg-1) withhigh (7.0 g·kg-1) or low (0.7 g·kg-1) levels of K (T2 and T9) not only significantly decreased the root dry weight but alsodecreased leaf area. Our results suggest that N, P, and K can be added to the substrate at an appropriate ratio togrow vigorous B. oleracea seedlings under intensive seedling production conditions. The present results give insightinto the nutrient requirements during early growth of B. oleracea seedlings in growth substrate.

Sun, Jian-Ying,Zhang, Chun-Yang,Zhang, Zhen-Jun,Dong, Yan-Fang,Zhang, An-Long,Wang, Zhi-Wei,Mei, Xiao-Long Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.9
Objective: Previous studies of the association between X-ray cross-complementing group 1 (XRCC1) gene polymorphisms and the gliomas risk have yielded conflicting results, and thus a meta-analysis was performed to provide a more accurate estimation. Methods: A computerized literature search of 5 electronic databases was conducted to identify the relevant studies. Fixed or random effect models were selected based on the heterogeneity test. Publication bias was estimated using Begg's funnel plots and Egger's regression test. Results: A total of 11 studies (3,810 cases and 6,079 controls), 7 studies (2,928 cases and 5,048 controls), and 4 studies (1,461 cases and 2,593 controls) were finally included in the analyses of the association between XRCC1 Arg399Gln, Arg194Trp, and Arg280His polymorphisms and glioma risk, respectively. The pooled results showed that GlnGln carriage was associated with moderately increased risk of gliomas in Asians (GlnGln vs. ArgArg, OR=1.490, 95%CI 1.031-2.153; GlnGln/ArgGln vs. ArgArg, OR=1.321, 95%CI 1.037-1.684), whereas a marginal association was revealed in Caucasians. For the Arg194Trp polymorphism, although a significant association was shown in the homozygous genotype comparisons (TrpTrp vs. ArgArg, OR = 2.209, 95%CI 1.398-2.945), no significant link was found on subgroup analysis stratified by ethnicity. With regard to the Arg280His polymorphism, no significant association was found in each comparison. No particular study was found to significantly influence the pooled results, and no potential publication bias was detected. Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggested that the XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism is moderately associated with increased risk of gliomas in Asians, while Arg194Trp and Arg280His polymorphisms demonstrated no significant influence. Due to the limited studies and the potential confounders, further studies are needed to confirm these results.
Few-mode fiber multi-parameter sensor with distributed temperature and strain discrimination.
Li, An,Wang, Yifei,Fang, Jian,Li, Ming-Jun,Kim, Byoung Yoon,Shieh, William Optical Society of America 2015 Optics letters Vol.40 No.7
<P>We propose a unique few-mode fiber (FMF)-based multi-parameter optical-fiber sensor for distributed measurement of temperature and strain. We launch a pump and a probe signal through specific linearly polarized modes into a FMF, and monitor the Brillouin frequency shift (BFS) in each mode. By analyzing the temperature and strain coefficients of the BFS of the two lowest order (LP(01), LP(11)) modes, discrimination of temperature and strain are successfully demonstrated, with an accuracy of 1.2C and 21.9??με.</P>

This paper addresses the problem of time-varying formation tracking for a kind of second-order multiagent systems with a switching topology, in which the dynamics of agents are modeled by double integrators and harmonic oscillators respectively. The control input of each agent is subject to saturation. First, depending on the low-gain state feedback technique, an algorithm is designed to solve semi-global time-varying formation tracking problem, where feasibility condition of formation tracking is introduced. Then, by utilizing the Lyapunov function and low-gain feedback theory, it is proved that second-order multi-agent system with a switching topology achieves the specified semi-global time-varying formation tracking if some sufficient conditions hold. Further, as an extension, jointly connected switching topology is considered, and the corresponding formation tracking problem is also explored. Subsequently, several simulation examples is worked out for illustration.

This paper solves the exponential synchronization problem of two memristive recurrent neural networks with both stochastic disturbance and time-varying delays via periodically alternate state feedback control. First, a periodically alternate state feedback control rule is designed. Then, on the basis of the Lyapunov stability theory, some novel sufficient conditions guaranteeing exponential synchronization of drive-response stochastic memristive recurrent neural networks via periodically alternate state feedback control are derived. In contrast to some previous works about synchronization of memristive recurrent neural networks, the obtained results in this paper are not difficult to be validated, and complement, extend and generalize the earlier papers. Lastly, an illustrative example is provided to indicate the effectiveness and applicability of the obtained theoretical results.
Formation Control with Multiple Leaders via Event-triggering Transmission Strategy
Jing Liu,Jian-an Fang,Zhen Li,Guang He 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.6
Event-triggering formation control with multiple leaders in second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems is investigated in this paper. This novel distributed formation control strategy allows the event-triggering condition to be intermittently examined at sampling instants, where the data transmission is driven by an event-triggering control protocol. Based on this strategy, two different formation control protocols are presented. Then, some sufficient conditions are given to ensure the second-order nonlinear multi-agent systems converge to the desired formation shape. Finally, examples are given to show the effectiveness of theoretical results.

The main purpose of this paper is to design the continuous sliding mode control, which resolves the stability problem of fractional-order nonlinear systems by taking into consideration both matched and unmatched uncertainties, and unknown control gains. Three different sliding mode controllers are put forward to attenuate the chattering problem, which pass an adaptive fractional-order filter. The control function constituted of a novel SMC method and backstepping control is proposed to deal with the problem of unmatched uncertainty. Utilizing the fractional-order Lyapunov technology and the finite-time control strategy, the analysis results of this paper are theoretically proved. Finally, the availability and feasibility of the suggested chattering free sliding mode control are also confirmed by the application to the control of the fractional-order horizontal platform system.

To simulate more realistic networks, we introduce a complex dynamical network model with double non-delayed and double delayed coupling and further investigate its synchronization phenomenon in this paper. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, adaptive synchronization criteria is obtained. Analytical result shows that under the designed adaptive controllers, the complex dynamical network with double non-delayed and double delayed coupling can asymptotically synchronize to a given trajectory. What is more, the coupling matrix is not assumed to be symmetric or irreducible. Finally, simulation results show the method is effective.

Aims: The characteristic of associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS) carries high mortality and morbidity. There is room for improvement. We suggest Terminal Branches Portal Vein Embolization (TBPVE) as a way to compart the liver. As a result, only a single surgical operation is required. This method is termed Terminal branches portal vein Embolization Liver Partition Planned hepatectomy (TELPP). Methods: Patients with unresectable primary or metastatic liver tumor were performed with TELPP. The procedure of TELPP was that in addition to PVE, embolization agent was infused to the terminal branches of portal vein of S5,S8 or S4. CT scan was taken one or two weeks later, and standard liver volume(SLV), FLR and FLR/SLV are calculated. Two weeks later when the FLR and liver function is appropriate, open or laparoscopic hepatectomy is performed. Results: The study included 11patients including hepatocellular carcinoma: n =8, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: n = 1, hilarcholangiocarcinoma: n =1, colorectal liver metastasis: n =1. After a waiting period of 14 days, the volume of theFLR had increased from 382mlto 578ml, representing a median volume increase of 51% (range =32.5%-86.7%). Of the 11patients with hepatectomy, right hemihepatectomy (n=2), extended right hemihepatectomy (n=5), right trisecmentectomy(2), extended left hemihepatectomy (n=1) and left trisecmentectomy(1). No patient died, and no serve perioperative morbidity occurred. Conclusions: ALPPS and all modifications need two-stage operations with a high morbidity and mortality rate. It seems that TELPP is very promising. It has the merit of ALPPS as extraordinarily rapid increasement of FLRvolume, yet the morbidity and mortality is much lower, owing to the fact that unlike ALPPS, there is no two liver raw surfaces left behind in the abdominal cavity to produce bile leak, as only single surgical operation is required
