The purpose of this study is to develop an air-passing soundproofing panel with more improved structure to reduce the CO2 emission and installation cost. To reduce the emission of CO2 ; it is suggested to choose low CO2 emission material relative to the aluminum and to reduce the materials by developing a specially designed air-passing soundproofing panel structure. First of all, we performed the flow analysis to predict the wind pressure according to the open angle of the air-passing soundproofing panel and the noise level analysis at the receiver point. To verify the simulation, a prototype of the soundproofing panel was made. The flow test in the wind tunnel and load test were performed. The economic evaluation for the installation of the air-passing soundproofing panel was performed and specifications of the installation was prepared. As the results of this research, it was verified that the wind load was reduced about 40% to that of the conventional one at 25m/s wind speed in the wind tunnel test. By applying the 4m span soundproofing wall with air-passing soundproofing panel and under the cost of 250 thousand won/m2 instead of the conventional 2m span panel, the installation cost will always be lowered than the conventional one in the combination of (60:40~50:50) conventional to air-passing soundproofing panel from the economic evaluation. The 20% reduction of CO2 was found by changing the 50% of aluminum soundproof panel to air-passing soundproofing panel.

To test the efficiency of the BDD electrode for complete mineralization of organic wastewater, phenol and 2-chlorophenol (2-CP) were treated electrochemically with both an active Pt/Ti electrode and a nonactive boron doped diamond (BDD) electrode, respectively, in neutral aqueous medium. Aqueous solutions of both phenol and 2-chlorophenol were treated electrochemically using an in-house fabricated flow through electrochemical cell (FTEC). The experimental variables included current input, treatment time, and the flow rate of the solutions. Depending on the magnitude of the applied current and reaction time, the compounds were either completely degraded or partially oxidized to other intermediates. Removal efficiencies reached as high as 93.2% and 94.8% both at the Pt/Ti electrode and BDD electrode, respectively, at an applied current of 200 mA for a 3.0 hr reaction and a flow rate of 4 mL/min. The BDD electrode was much more efficient for the complete mineralization of phenol and 2-chlorophenol than the Pt/Ti electrode.

<P>The rapid and effective transfer of chemical reactants to solid surfaces through porous structures is essential for enhancing the performance of nanomaterials for various energy and environmental applications. In this paper, we report a facile one-pot spray pyrolysis method for preparing highly reactant-accessible and porous SnO2 spheres, which have three-dimensionally interconnected and size-tunable trimodal (microscale, mesoscale and macroscale) pores. For this synthetic method, macroscale polystyrene spheres and mesoscale-diameter, long carbon nanotubes were used as sacrificial templates. The promising potential of the SnO2 spheres with trimodal pores (sizes approximate to 3, 20 and 100 nm) was demonstrated by the unprecedentedly high response to several p.p.b. levels of ethanol. Such an ultrahigh response to ethanol is explained with respect to the hierarchical porosity and pore-size-dependent gas diffusion mechanism.</P>

<P>Abstract</P><P>Secondary pure red cell aplasia (PRCA), as an extrahepatic manifestation of hepatitis A virus infection, has been reported on rare occasions. We report herein an unusual case of hepatitis A complicated by PRCA. In addition, we reviewed nine cases reported in the English literature. Our case of nonfulminant hepatitis A complicated by PRCA and hemolytic anemia was successfully treated with initial transfusion and corticosteroid therapy for 18 weeks. The patient’s hematologic abnormalities and liver function tests re-normalized completely. We review clinical features and effective therapeutic strategies for this disease entity.</P><P>Copyright © 2012 S. Karger AG, Basel</P>
