      • Corrosion and Deformity Recognition for Current Coin

Hongwei Gao,Yueqiu Jiang,Yang Yu 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.6

Current coins often get damaged in the current environment, such as smudginess, discoloration, corrosion, mutilation and attrition. When the damage comes to a certain degree, the continuous use of coins will be impacted. In this paper, relevant identification technologies to mutilation and corrosion which are two common defects in circulation are investigated. At first, an auto identification and quantization algorithm about mutilation area of coin surface, based on Freeman boundary tracing is designed. On the basis of binarization, the algorithm accomplishes boundary tracing and extraction and area calculation automatically after the seed point is determined which is an arbitrary point in extracting mutilation area. Secondly, a clustering method based on HIS color model is developed for auto identification of corrosion area and calculation of corrosion area and average corrosion degree. At last, the validity and practicability of the algorithms are proved by a large number of experimental results.

Evidence of two genetically different lymphotropic herpesviruses present among red deer, sambar, and milu herds in China

        Hongwei Zhu,Huitao Liu,Xin Yu,Jianlong Zhang,Linlin Jiang,Guozhong Chen,Zhibin Feng,Youzhi Li,Tao Feng,Xingxiao Zhang 대한수의학회 2018 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.19 No.5

Herpesvirus infections in Cervidae are a serious threat affecting some deer species worldwide. In our attempt to identify malignant catarrhal fever-associated herpesviruses in deer herds, ten gammaherpesviral DNA fragments were identified in five species of deer in herds in China by using a pan-herpesvirus polymerase chain reaction assay targeting viral DNA polymerase. Notably, in sambar (Rusa unicolor), a novel gamma-2 herpesvirus was identified that showed a close relationship with fallow deer lymphotropic herpesvirus (LHV), while the other fragments were phylogenetically grouped together with Elk-LHV. Determination of whether these viruses have any clinical implication in these deer species should be undertaken urgently.

Experimental study on two types of newbeam-to-column connections

        Hongwei Ma,Weishan Jiang,조종두 국제구조공학회 2011 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.11 No.4

The new structure consisting of continuous compound spiral hoop reinforced concrete (CCSHRC)column and steel concrete composite (SCC) beam has both the advantages of steel structures and concrete structures. Two types of beam-to-column connections applied in this structural system are presented in this paper. The connection details are as follows: the main bars in beam concrete pass through the core zone for both types of connections. For connecting bar connection, the steel I-beam webs are connected by bolts to a steel plate passing through the joint while the top and bottom flanges of the beams are connected by four straight and two X-shaped bars. For bolted end-plate connection, the steel I-beam webs are connected by stiffenedextended end-plates and eight long shank bolts passing through the core zone. In order to study the seismic behaviour and failure mechanisms of the connections, quasi-static tests were conducted on both types of full-scale connection subassemblies and core zone specimens. The load-drift hysteresis loops show a plateau for the connecting bar connection while they are excellent plump for bolted end-plate connection. The shear capacity formulas of both types of connections are presented and the values calculated by the formula agree well with the test results.

Vibration mitigation of stay cable using optimally tuned MR damper

Hongwei Huang,Limin Sun,Xiaolu Jiang 국제구조공학회 2012 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.9 No.1

Mechanical dampers have been proved to be one of the most effective countermeasures for vibration mitigation of stay cables in various cable-stayed bridges over the world. However, for long stay cables, as the installation height of the damper is restricted due to the aesthetic concern, using passive dampers alone may not satisfy the control requirement of the stay cables. In this connection, semi-active MR dampers have been proposed for the vibration mitigation of long stay cables. Although various studies have been carried out on the implementation of MR dampers on stay cables, the optimal damping performance of the cable-MR damper system has yet to be evaluated. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of MR damper as a semi-active control device for the vibration mitigation of stay cable. The mathematical model of the MR damper will first be established through a performance test. Then, an efficient semi-active control strategy will be derived, where the damping of MR damper will be tuned according to the dynamic characteristics of stay cable, in order to achieve optimal damping of cable-damper system. Simulation study will be carried out to verify the proposed semi-active control algorithm for suppressing the cable vibrations induced by different loading patterns using optimally tuned MR damper. Finally, the effectiveness of MR damper in mitigating multi modes of cable vibration will be examined theoretically

A Three-phase Hybrid Power Flow Algorithm for Meshed Distribution System with Transformer Branches and PV Nodes

        Hongwei Li,Huabing Wu,Biyu Jiang,Anan Zhang,Wei Fang 대한전기학회 2016 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.11 No.1

Aiming at analyzing the power flow of the distribution systems with distribution transformer (DT) branches and PV nodes, a hybrid three-phase power flow methodology is presented in this paper. The incidence formulas among node voltages, loop currents and node current injections have been developed based on node-branch incidence matrix of the distribution network. The method can solve the power flow directly and has higher efficiency. Moreover, the paper provides a modified method to model DT branches by considering winding connections, phase shifting and off-nominal tap ratio, and then DT branches could be seen like one transmission line with the proposed power flow method. To deal with the PV nodes, an improved approach to calculate reactive power increment at each PV node was deduced based on the assumption that the positive-sequence voltage magnitude of PV node is fixed at a given value. Then during calculating the power flow at each iteration, it only needs to update current injection at each PV node with the proposed algorithm. The process is very simple and clear. The results of IEEE 4 nodes and the modified IEEE 34 nodes test feeders verified the correctness and efficiency of the proposed hybrid power flow algorithm.

Fabrication of Novel CuO Films with Nanoparticles-Aggregated Sphere-Like Clusters on ITO and Their Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensing Applications

        Fang Sun,Hongwei Jiang,Ruihua Zhu,Dan Wang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.2

In this work, novel nanoparticles-aggregated CuO sphere-like clusters were successfully synthesized on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass through a facile two-step procedure consisting of the fabrication of Cu2O films directly grown on ITO surface by electrodeposition, and subsequent calcinations of Cu2O films leading to the formation of CuO films. The morphology and structure of as-synthesized samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that the size of nanoparticles constituting sphere-like clusters structure obtained at 200℃ is much smaller than that of obtained at other temperature, which can provide large surface area for catalytic reaction. The CuO/ITO electrode was applied to detect glucose by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometric detection (i - t). It was found that the obtained CuO films modified ITO electrode exhibited a much higher electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of glucose in an alkaline medium through heat treatment of 200℃. A favorable performance with a high sensitivity of 1841.5544 µA mM-1 cm-2 to glucose ranging from 1.0 x 10-6 M to 5.0 x 10-4 M, a low operating potential of 0.35V versus Ag/AgCl and a fast amperometric response (within 3 s) were achieved on such CuO/ITO electrode. It also showed outstanding long-term stability and good reproducibility. Notably, poisoning by chloride ions and interference from ascorbic acid, uric acid and acetaminophen were negligible. Therefore, the nanoparticles-aggregated CuO sphere-like clusters would be a promising candidate electrode material for the development of nonenzymatic glucose sensors.

Analysis of the performances of the CFD schemes used for coupling computation

        Chen, Guangliang,Jiang, Hongwei,Kang, Huilun,Ma, Rui,Li, Lei,Yu, Yang,Li, Xiaochang Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.7

In this paper, the coupling of fine-mesh computational fluid dynamics (CFD) thermal-hydraulics (TH) code and neutronics code is achieved using the Ansys Fluent User Defined Function (UDF) for code development, including parallel meshing mapping, data computation, and data transfer. Also, some CFD schemes are designed for mesh mapping and data transfer to guarantee physical conservation in the coupling computation. Because there is no rigorous research that gives robust guidance on the various CFD schemes that must be obtained before the fine-mesh coupling computation, this work presents a quantitative analysis of the CFD meshing and mapping schemes to improve the accuracy of the value and location of key physical prediction. Furthermore, the effect of the sub-pin scale coupling computation is also studied. It is observed that even the pin-resolved coupling computation can also create a large deviation in the maximum value and spatial locations, which also proves the significance of the research on mesh mapping and data transfer for CFD code in a coupling computation.
