This study was conducted to investigate the effect of breed, sex, year of birth, month of birth, litter size and parity of sow on certain postweaning traits in swine. The data for this study were obtained from 5,386 heads of Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire boars and gilts tested at a swine breeding farm in Icheon, Kyunggi-Do from August, 1982 to August, 1987. The results obtained in this study are as follow: 1. The least-squares overall means of the traits studied were 0.777±0.002㎏ for average daily gain, 158.7±0.28 days for age at 90㎏, 1.833±0.008㎝ for backfat thickness, 112.2±0.13㎝ for body length and 63.7±0.05㎝ for wither's height, respectively. 2. Among the three breeds compared, the Duroc had the highest average daily gain and reached 90㎏ at an earliest age. The Landrace had the thinnest backfat and longest body length. In wither's height the Duroc was the highest. 3. Males had higher average daily gain, reached 90㎏ at an earlier, age, had thinner backfat, longer body length and higher wither's height than females. 4. Year of birth and month of birth had significant effects on all of the postweaning traits studied. The pigs born in June, July and August had comparatively higher average daily gain and earlier age at 90㎏ than those born in other months. The pigs born in October had the thinnest backfat. 5. the effect of litter size was significant for age at 90㎏ and backfat thickness, but was not significant for average daily gain, body length and wither's hight. The pigs in litter sizes of 5 to 7 reached 90㎏ at an earliest age, and those in litter size of 12 or more reached 90㎏ at a latest age. Backfat was thinnest in the litter size of 4 or less and was thickest in the litter size of 12 or more. 6. The pigs in 2nd 3rd parities had the highest average daily gain and reached 90㎏ at an earliest age, and those in 5th parity was the most inferior in the two traits. Backfat was thinnest in the 1st parity and was thickest in the 5th parity.

The physicochemical characteristics of automobile shredder residue (ASR) and its melting slag were investigated: In particular, the applicability of ASR as a reducing agent to the black copper recovery process. ASR is classified into three types after the shredding process: heavy fluff, light fluff and glass and soil. In this study, the portions of heavy fluff, light fluff and glass and soil in the ASR were 89.2 wt%, 8.1 wt% and 2.7wt%, respectively. Physicochemical analysis revealed that moisture and fixed carbon content were low in heavy and light fluffs, and combustible content was the highest. The higher heating value (HHV) of light fluff was 6,607 kcal/kg, and the HHV of heavy fluff was 5,312 kcal/kg. To sum up, the separation of black copper and discard slag mostly seems to be affected by the melting temperature. Therefore, if basicity and melting temperature are properly controlled, the ASR can be used as a reducing agent in the smelting process of black copper recovery. Moreover, the possibility of black copper recovery from ASR and heavy metal poisoning is evaluated.

본 연구에서는 연소 불안정성의 능동적 제어를 위해 정상초음파장이 예혼합화염의 거동에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위한 실험 결과를 제시한다. 화염구조변이를 관찰하기 위해 슐리렌 기법을 이용하였으며, 초기압력 및 연소챔버 개폐 유무에 따라 화염선단의 형태 및 화염 전파속도를 고찰하였다. 정상 초음파장에 의한 화염선단의 찌그러짐이 관찰되었고, 반사파와 정상초음파의 영향으로 연꽃모양의 화염(lotus flame)이 형성되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of an ultrasonic standing-wave field to the behavior of methane/air premixed flame. Visualization technique utilizing the schlieren method was employed for the observation of premixed flame behavior. The shape of flame front and local flame velocity were measured according to the variation of reactants pressure and chamber opening/closing condition. The flame front was distorted and severely deformed to a lotus-type flame by the interaction of ultrasonic standing-wave and the reflection wave coming from an end wall of reactor.

정상초음파장이 메탄/공기 예혼합화염 연소반응에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구결과를 제시한다. 화염구조 가시화는 슐리렌 기법을 이용하였으며, 이미지 후처리를 통해 화염 전파 거동에 대해 면밀히 관찰하였다. 정상초음파에 의한 화염 구조 변화가 연소반응을 촉진시켜 화염 전파속도를 증가시키는 것을 알 수 있었다. 당량비가 증가할수록 정상초음파에 의한 속도변화는 감소하였다. An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of an ultrasonic standing wave on the combustion reaction of methane/air premixed flame. A Schlieren photography was used for the flame structure visualization, and the flame propagation behavior was investigated in detail throughout the post-processing analysis. It is found that the structural variation of methane/air premixed flame caused by the intervention of ultrasonic standing wave give rise to the enhancements of combustion reaction and flame propagation velocity. Effects of the standing wave on the flame velocity decreases as the equivalence ratio increases.

본 연구에서는 정상초음파와 교반하는 메탄/공기 예혼합화염의 동역학적 거동을 규명하기 위한 실험결과를 제시한다. 슐리렌 기법을 이용하여 전파하는 화염을 가시화하였고, 이미지 후처리를 통해 정상 초음파 유무에 따른 화염선단의 형상 및 전파속도를 관찰하였다. 전파속도는 연소한계를 제외한 당량비에서 정상초음파장이 가진되는 경우에 더욱 증가하였으며, 화염선단의 찌그러지는 위치는 초음파 특성이 변하지 않는 한 일정하였다. This study is conducted to scrutinize agitation effects of an ultrasonic standing wave on the dynamic behavior of methane/air premixed flame. The propagating flame is caught by high-speed schlieren images, through which flame front and local flame velocity are analyzed and obtained, too. It is revealed that the propagation velocity with ultrasonic standing wave is larger than the case without excitation except around the flammability limits. Also, vertical locations of distortions and depth of dents of the front are constant, unless the ultrasonic standing wave characteristics are not changed.
정상 초음파장의 간섭에 의한 메탄/공기 예혼합화염의 구조 변이

An experimental study has been conducted to scrutinize into the influence of ultrasonic standing wave field on the variation of methane/air premixed flame structure. Visualization technique utilizing the Schlieren method is employed for the observation of premixed flame propagation. The shape of flame front and local flame velocity are measured according to the variation of reactants pressure and chamber opening/closing condition. The flame fronts affected by the standing wave are clearly distorted but the vertical locations of frontal dents do not undergo any appreciable change. The influence of standing wave on the flame front becomes more prominent as the flame propagates downward. It is found that the propagation velocity of flame front with excitation of standing wave is greater than the case without the excitation. It is eventually revealed that the flame is deformed to lotus-shaped one by the vivid interaction of ultrasonic standing-wave with the reflected wave coming from the right side.
