Distraction Osteogenesis Update : Introduction of Multidirectional Cranial Distraction Osteogenesis

In this review, we discuss in detail our current procedure for treating craniosynostosis using multidirectional cranial distraction osteogenesis (MCDO). The MCDO method allows all phenotypes of skull deformity to be reshaped by distraction osteogenesis, except in patients who are 5 months of age or younger and patients with posterior cranial vault problems. We report the results of clinical data of 36 children with craniosynostosis who underwent MCDO between 2005 and 2014 in our institute. This method has the following benefits, such as a high flexibility of reshaping, shorter treatment period and less invasive secondary intervention. We also discuss the other distraction osteogenesis techniques that are used to treat craniosynostosis and compare them with MCDO. The preferred procedure for correction of craniosynostosis may depend on the patient's age, the extent of deformity, and the extent of correction achievable by surgery. We can arrange the combinations of various methods according to the advantage and disadvantage of each technique.
Evaluation of Ambiguity Estimator between Reference Stations

In order to apply the network adjustment, the correct ambiguities between each of reference stations must be calculated. This paper focused on the comparison of ambiguity resolution between the reference stations. Three hours test data with different baseline length from 20 km to 60 km have been analyzed. The results show that the time-to-fix between 20 km and 40 km is typically under 1 minute. However, over 60km baseline, the time-to-fix performance degrades.

A novel N-doped SiO2@SiC core shell has been synthesized and functionalized with amino groups. Then,amino hybrid of tungsten oxide was supported on the surface of functionalized SiO2@SiC core shell byimmobilization of tungsten complex and coordination of ethylenediamine to tungsten centers. Then, thecatalytic activities of prepared hybrids were investigated in oxidative desulfurization of model fuels. Toevaluate the role of silicon carbide support, silica nanospheres also were functionalized and its catalyticperformance was compared. The results indicate that the SiC catalyst shows higher catalytic activity(99.9%, 160 min) compared to the SiO2 analogue (61%, 160 min).

Satellite communications technology has been researched and developed focusing on its merit of "Wide area coverage" and "Broadcasting" for the contribution for the people's living. And, in Japan, consequently, Communications Satellite (CS) and Broadcasting Satellite (BS) are now put to practical use as an infrastructure which will greatly enrich the people's living. The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) has been working on development and research in communications and broadcasting satellite and its technologies with cooperation and support of other institutions concerned. This paper outlines NASDA's projects of satellite communications mission like Optical Inter-orbit Communications Engineering Test Satellite (OICETS), Data Relay Test Satellite (DRTS) and Engineering Test Satellite-VIII (ETS-VIII) and "i-Space Project", which has been just initiated.

Purpose: C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) has been utilized as a prognostic factor in various carcinomas. We investigated the relationship between preoperative, postoperative day (POD) 1, and POD 7 CARs and the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: Three hundred twenty patients with CRC who underwent laparoscopic radical resection between May 2011 and December 2016 were enrolled. Patients were selected into 2 groups, high CAR and low CAR (72 patients per group), based on preoperative, POD 1, and POD 7 CARs. The relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared between groups using propensity score matching. Results: The high CAR group had a significantly worse RFS (P<0.001) and OS (P=0.002) at POD 7 than those in the low CAR group. However, in preoperative and POD 1 analysis, no differences were observed. Conclusion: In patients with CRC, CAR of POD 7 was a significant prognostic factor.
