• ‘나혜석 거리’ 근대이미지 조성에 관한 연구

        김정동,이기욱,조홍석,한수형,구명화 목원대학교 건축도시연구센터 2003 建築·都市環境硏究 Vol.11 No.-

As the first female artist of Western painting in the modern times, Hey-seok Na is the historical figure in Suwon, who went ahead of the times. Suwon City established the street of Hey-seok Na to commemorate her, in Ingye-dong, Paldal-gu. Street-establishment business for the historical figures is one of the factors with the biggest effects for the creation of local cultures. It has many merits such as the offer of fine view of city and resting area as well as giving the pride and educational effects to its residents. However, there are memorial hall or exhibitional hall not established in the street of Hey-seok Na, with the lacks in attractions and convenience facilities. With a poor decorative arrangement in the vicinity of the street, the meaning of street establishment and the image of Hey-seok Na are not well-delivered. Accordingly, the initial plan to make the street with citizens has not been well carried out. This research classified and analyzed the achievements and thoughts of Hey-seok Na, to embody it as the image and the concept of design to be expressed for the street was picked out. As a result, the image of Hey-seok Na, as the historical figure was set at modern times. the existing facilities in the street of Hey-seok Na was analyzed, centering on the time-factor of the modern times, deciding the spacial goal pursued by the street along with things to be improved.

C-Terminal Region of Ankyrin-B Interact with Z-Line Portion of Titin

        Kim, Myong-Shin,Kim, Hyun-Suk,Park, Eun-Ran,Lee, Yeong-Mi,Lee, Min-A,Kim, Ji-Hee,Choi, Jae-Kyong,Ahn, Seung-Ju,Min, Byung-In,Shon, Myeong-Hwan,Choi, Jang-Seok,Kim, Chong-Rak The Korean Society for Biomedical Laboratory Scien 2006 Journal of biomedical laboratory sciences Vol.12 No.4

Ankyrins are a ubiquitously expressed family of intracellular adaptor proteins involved in targeting diverse proteins to specialized membrane domains in both the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum. We described here that the C-terminal domain of ankyrin-B interact specifically with Z-line portion of titin in yeast two-hybrid analysis, in vitro pull-down assays and localization experiments in COS-7 cells. In this study we provide the first experimental evidence that Z-line portion of titin is necessary for the localization of ankyrin-B and ankyrin-B links between the sarcolemma and the myofibril in costameres.

      • Effects of Methysergide (Serotonin antagonist) on Serum Prolactin Response after Electroconvulsive Therapy

        Kim, Eun-Hye,Han, Jin-Hee,Kim, Kwang-Soo,Lew, Tae-Yul,Bahk, Won-Myong,Kim, Chong-Eun CATHOLIC MEDICAL CENTER 1991 Bulletin of the Clinical Research Institute Vol.19 No.1

Recently it has been shown that a series of electroconvulsive therapy affects neurohormonal function in man, though the results of the studies have not yet confirmed the mechanism of electroconvulsive therapy. To investigate effects of methysergide on serum prolactin response after electroconvulsive therapy, the authors studied the changes of serum levels of prolactin before and after electroconvulsive therapy, with and without methysergide pretreatment in 11 psychiatric patients. The results were as follows: 1. Compared with the day before electroconvulsive therapy, serum prolactin levels were increased significantly after electroconvulsive therapy (p < 0.01). 2. Compared with electroconvulsive therapy alone, increased serum prolactin levels by electroconvulsive therapy were attenuated significantly after methysergide administration (p<0.05, p<0.01). Hormonal responses of this study in terms of the knowledge available on the neurotransmitter control of prolactin release suggests that the responses of prolactin to electroconvulsive therapy may be mediated by the activation of serotonergic system in central nervous system.

Bone Formation Effect of the RGD-bioconjugated Mussel Adhesive Proteins Composite Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Hydrogel Based Nano Hydroxyapatite and Collagen Membrane in Rabbits

        Kim, Dong-Myong,Kim, Hyun-Cho,Yeun, Chang-Ho,Lee, Che-Hyun,Lee, Un-Yun,Lim, Hun-Yu,Chang, Young-An,Kim, Young-Dae,Choi, Sung-Ju,Lee, Chong-Suk,Cha, Hyung Joon The Korean Society for Marine Biotechnology 2015 한국해양바이오학회지 Vol.7 No.2

Injectable RGD-bioconjugated Mussel Adhesive Proteins (RGD-MAPs) composite hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) hydrogels provide local periodontal tissue for bone filling in periodontal surgery. Previously we developed a novel type of injectable self-supported hydrogel (2 mg/ml of RGD-MAPs/HPMC) based porcine nano hydroxyapatite (MPH) for dental graft, which could good handling property, biodegradation or biocompatibility with the hydrogel disassembly and provided efficient cell adhesion activity and no inflammatory responses. Herein, the aim of this work was to evaluate bone formation following implantation of MPH and collagen membrane in rabbit calvarial defects. Eight male New Zealand rabbits were used and four circular calvarial defects were created on each animal. Defects were filled with different graft materials: 1) collagen membrane, 2) collagen membrane with MPH, 3) collagen membrane with bovine bone hydroxyapatite (BBH), and 4) control. The animals were sacrificed after 2 and 8 weeks of healing periods for histologic analysis. Both sites receiving MPH and BBH showed statistically increased augmented volume and new bone formation (p < 0.05). However, there was no statistical difference in new bone formation between the MPH, BBH and collagen membrane group at all healing periods. Within the limits of this study, collagen membrane with MPH was an effective material for bone formation and space maintaining in rabbit calvarial defects.

2009 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.57 No.3

Background: Airwayscope (AWS), which has been used successfully for difficult airway in general anesthesia, has been anticipated that hemodynamic response to tracheal intubation in the difficult airway may be attenuated. Also, there is a series of reports demonstrating the successful use of lightwand to open the difficult airway. Thus, we decided to conduct a survey to compare AWS to lightwand and to direct laryngoscopy of cardiovascular response to tracheal intubation. Methods: Of 64 healthy patients without cardiovascular disease, 22, 21, 21 patients were randomly assigned to AWS group, lightwand group and direct laryngoscope group. After induction of general anesthesia, intubation was performed with manual in-line neck stabilization. During laryngoscopy, a modified Cormack-Lehane grade was assessed and time to intubation was measured. Systolic arterial pressure (SAP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded at the following timepoints: baseline, just before intubation, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 4 min and 5 min after intubation. Results: There were no significant differences between the 3 groups in SAP, HR (P>0.05). However modified Cormack-Lehane grade of all patients in the AWS group was I, while that in direct laryngoscope group was IIB or III. In addition, the mean time to intubation of the direct laryngoscope group was significantly longer than that of the AWS and lightwand (P<0.05). Conclusions: In the difficult airway, AWS was very effective in improving laryngeal view and decreasing time to intubation compared to direct laryngoscopey. In addition, lightwand reduced the time to intubation. However we could not find any significant difference in hemodynamic response to tracheal intubation among the 3 groups. • Evaluation of Biological Performance in a Newly Developed Single-use Bioreactor, the CELBIC System

        Hyunwoo KIM,Rock Ki KIM,Young Hee SHIN,Yeong Ok BAIK,Sun Young KIM,Chong Myong KIM,Yong Bok LEE,Kyung Nam KIM,Duk Jae OH 한국생물공학회 2021 한국생물공학회 학술대회 Vol.2021 No.10

Since the SUB(Single-Use Bioreactor)s have several advantages compared with the conventional stainless steel-based bioreactors, such as flexibility in scale, low risk of contamination, reduced labors for cleaning/ sterilization, and validation/regulation issues, the usage of SUBs for cell culture has been increasing continuously, as the bioindustry of biopharmaceuticals (proteins, antibodies, cell therapies and gene therapies products) has expanded dramatically during recent decades. In this study, a newly developed cell culture system, the CELBIC system, driven by multi-directional rocking movement is introduced and evaluated its physical and biological performances as a cell culture device. Three recombinant cell lines, CHO DG44, CHO-S, and CHO-K1, producing proteins were used for experiments, and cell cultures were carried out in four different working volumes of 1 liter, 5 liters, 50 liters, and 250 liters. Those cell cultures as the biological evaluation were performed under the conditions chosen from the results of evaluation of physical performances of the CELBIC system. For comparison, Erlenmeyer flasks and STR bioreactors representing a conventional cell culture device were used as control groups. Productivity was analyzed through ELISA and HPLC analysis methods. In the CELBIC system, cell cultures could be carried out successfully. In addition, cell growth performances were equal or superior to those of the control groups. From the results of biological evaluation, it was found that the CELBIC system is a SUB system easy to scale-up and able to cultivate cells specialized in suspension culture for producing proteins. It is considered that the CELBIC system can be an appealing alternative as a culture device across the biopharmaceutical fields including research and industry.

Tooth modification of helical gears for minimization of vibration and noise

Chong, Tae-Hyong,Myong, Jae-Hyong,Kim, Ki-Tae Korean Society for Precision Engineering 2001 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.2 No.4

Vibration and noise of gears is doc to the transmission error and the vibration exciting force caused by the periodically alternating tooth stiffness. Transmission error is the rotation delay between driving and driven gear caused by manufacturing error, alignment error in assembly and so on. Tooth stiffness changes with the proceeding mesh of teeth. The purpose of this study is to develop how to calculate simultaneously the optimum amounts of tooth profile modification. end relief and crowning by minimizing the vibration exciting force of helical gears. We estimate the vibration exciting force by the meshing analysis of gears. Formulated constraints of this problem consist of contact ratio and strengths of gear teeth such as tooth bending strength, surface durability, and scoring. ADS(Automated Design Synthesis) is used as an optimization tool. We also investigate the relation between the aspect ratio and the optimum values of tooth modification. The proposed method can calculate the optimum amount of tooth modification automatically and is expected to be practically useful to resolve the problem of vibration of helical gears.

Lim, Myong Cheol,Yoo, Heong Jong,Song, Yong Jung,Seo, Sang-Soo,Kang, Sokbom,Kim, Sun Ho,Yoo, Chong Woo,Park, Sang-Yoon Asian Society of Gynecologic Oncology; Korean Soci 2017 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.28 No.4

Objective

To investigate the survival outcomes in patients with bulky stage IIIC and IV ovarian cancer, treated by primary debulking surgery (PDS) and selective use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) according to institutional criteria.

Methods

Medical records for advanced ovarian cancer patients who were treated at National Cancer Center (NCC) between December 2000 and March 2009 were retrospectively reviewed in the comprehensive cancer center. Bulky stage IIIC and IV ovarian cancer cases were included. Current NCC indication for NAC is determined based on patients' performance status and/or computerized tomography (CT) findings indicating difficult cytoreduction. After NAC, all traces of regressed metastatic ovarian cancer, potentially including chemotherapy-resistant cancer cells, were surgically removed.

Results

Of the 279 patients with bulky stage IIIC and IV, 143 (51%) underwent PDS and 136 (49%) received NAC. No gross residual and residual tumor measuring ≤1 cm was achieved in 66% and 96% of the PDS group and 79% and 96% of the NAC group, respectively. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) time were 20 months and not reached, but might be estimated more than 70 months in the PDS group and 15 and 70 months in the NAC group, respectively.

Conclusion

Extensive cytoreductive surgery to minimize residual tumor and selective use of NAC based on the institutional criteria could result in improved survival outcomes. Until further studies can be done to define the selection criteria for NAC after surgery, institutional criteria for NAC should consider the ability of the surgeon and institutional capacity.
