      • 한국 회나무(Euonymus planipes), 참회나무(E. oxyphyllus)와 나래회나무(E. macropterus)의 잎의 형질비교

        한반도에 분포하는 참회나무, 회나무, 나래회나무의 영양기관에서의 유효 식별 형질을 확인하기 위하여 166점의 표본 조사를 통해 단변량 분석을 실시하였다. 3종을 대상으로 4개의 정량형질(잎의 길이, 잎의 너비, 엽두의 길이, 엽병의 길이)을 측정하였다. 형질 분석 결과 3종에 대한 잎의 형질은 종간 차이를 보이지 않아 종간 식별에 도움이 되지는 않았다. 따라서 본 분류군에 있어서 잎의 형질만을 가지고 종을 식별하는 것은 타당하지 않고 반드시 꽃이나 열매가 있어야 이 분류군을 인식할 수 있다고 판단된다. 분포에 있어서 회나무는 강원도에서 평안도에 걸쳐 분포하고, 참회나무는 백두대간을 중심으로 한반도 북부까지 분포하며 나래회나무는 한반도 남쪽지역을 중심으로 분포하는 양상으로 보여 분류군 간에 다소 차이가 있지만 대부분 강원도를 중심으로 분포가 겹친다. Leaves of 166 specimens were sampled to investigate patterns of interspecific variation and to evaluate recognition of Euonymus planipes, E. oxyphyllus. and E. macropterus using four leaf characters (length, width, apex length, and petiole length). This study suggested that these leaf characters were not useful to identify these taxa. Therefore, it is only possible to identify these closely related taxa based on flower and fruit characters unlike other horticulturists' view.

        저용량의 Potassium Iodide로 치료한 스포로트리쿰증 4예

        We experienced four cases of sporotrichosis including three lymphocutaneous type and one fixed cutaueous type. Case 1 was a 6-year old child, affected over the right chin. Case 2 was a 31-year old housewife, affected over the right forearm, Case 3 was a 53-year old housewife, affected over the right forearm and dorsum of right hand. Case 4 was a 19-year old student, affected over the left forearm. Histopathologically, chronic granulomatous inflammation with the neutrophilic ivfiltration and/or central suppuration were observed. Mycologically, typical colonies with moist, wrinkled and rnembraneous surface were cultured except in case 3. All patients were completly cured by oral administration of low dosage of potassium iodide(63. R-lllg) in a short period (50~86 days).

        치근면 활택술과 아르곤 레이저 사용에 따른 염증성 치은의 교원질 분해효소 검출 비교

        The major cause of periodontal disease is microorganism in the dental plaque. Gingival sulcular fluid, which is exudate released from the tissue near crevicular epithelium is related with inflammation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the argon laser efficiency between the clinical index and onset of collagenase of gingival sulcular fluid. Material divided 16 patients into 4 groups. The first control was without treatmemt. The second was with just treatment of argon laser, The third was treated by scaling and root planning and the fourth was treated with both scailing and root planning and argon laser. The level of periocheck test, the index of bleeding, and the depth of periodontal pocket were evaluated from for 128 teeth of 64 anterior teeth and 64 posterior teeth. The results were as follows ; 1. In the score of periocheck test, root planing group(group 3) was significantly reduced more than the group without treatment(group 1) and the argon laser treatment(group 2) for results of 3 days and 7 days. But root planing plus argon laser treatment(group 4) in the 7days after experiment, was significantly reduced than no treatment(group 1) and root planing treatment(group 3)(P<0.05), in the 3 days after experiment, was significantly reduced than root planing(group3)(P<0.05). The score of periocheck test to the root planning group(group 3) were significantly reduced between days1, day3 and day7(P<0.05). Root planning plus argon laser group(group 4) were significantly reduced to 1 or 7days and 3 or 7days(P<0.05). The argon laser group(group 2) didn't show any changes. 2. In the case of sulcus bleeding index, the root planning group(group 3) and root planning plus argon laser group(group 4) were reduced more than without treatment group(group 1)(P<0.05) and sulcus bleeding index in the root planning group(group 3) were reduced more than the argon laser group(group 2)(P<0.05). 3. There wasn't any changes of pocket depth between the control and the experiment group as with experiment periods also.

      • Effects of "Ornidazole", a Nitroimidazole Compound, on the Micromorphology of Trichomonas vaginalis

        TPS-1 배지내에서 배양되고 있는 질트리코모나스에 항 원충제로 쓰이고 있는 ornidazole을 농도별로 처리하여 최소 생장저지농도(MIC)를 결정하였다. MIC 전후농도에서 처리된 질트리코모나스를 배양 24시간에 수집하여 미세구조의 변화와 acid phosphatase 활성을 전자현미경으로 관찰하여 약제 작용 기전을 밝히려 하였던 바 다음과 같은 소견을 얻었다. 1. 약제농도 0.5㎍/㎖에 처리된 질트리코모나스의 미세구조는 polyribosome의 출현을 제외하고는 대조군과 동일하였다. 2. MIC인 1.0㎍/㎖에 처리된 질트리코모나스는 cytoplasmic folding이 심하였고 cytoplasmic matrix의 확대, 내용물이 없는 vacuole과 vesicle의 출현이 특이하였다. 3. 약제농도 2.0㎍/㎖에 처리된 질트리코모나스는 세포질내에 단일 robosome의 분포가 현저하였고 cylindrical matrix과 vesicle의 수가 증가됨을 볼 수 있었다. Rosette-like cylindrical body의 출현도 이 실험군에서 관찰되었으나 대조군에서의 출현여부는 명확하지 않았다. 4. Acid phosphatase의 활성은 주로 식포와 원형질막 주위에 나타났으나 약제처리군(특히 2.0㎍/㎖ 처리군)에서는 거의 그 활성을 인정할 수 없었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 ornidazole 처리는 질트리코모나스의 증식을 억제시켰으며, polyribosome의 단일 ribosome으로의 붕괴, cytoplamic matrixd의 확장, cytoplasmic folding에 의한 세포질 물질의 추출 등으로 충체가 사멸되었고, 이들 미세구조의 변화는 생리학적으로 단백질합성과 효소활성을 저하시키는 원인이 됨을 알 수 있었다. Trichomonas vaginalis in TPS-1 medium was treated with ornidazole, a nitroimidazole compound, and examined the micromorphological changes and acid phosphatase activity. Tentatively, minimum inhibitory concentration of the drug was determined as 1.0㎍/㎖ for convenience sake of the study purpose. The results obtained in this study are sa follows: 1. In 0.5㎍/㎖ concentration at 24 hours, the general figures such as endoplasmic reticulum, food vacuoles, chromatic granules, polyribosomes, Golgi aooaratus and the vesicles were alnost normal except the scattered single ribosomes. 2. In 1.0㎍/㎖ concentration at 24 hours, cytoplasmic foldings, widened cytoplasnic matrix, empty vacuoles, scattered vesivaes were notably observed. 3. In 2.0㎍/㎖ concentration at 24 hours, ubiquitously distributed single-ribosones, enlarged cytoplasmic matrix, increase of vacuoles and vehicles, rosettelike cylindrical body were observed. 4. Acid phosphatase activity appeared in food vacuole, plasma membrane, but almost disappeared in 24 hours treatment, especially by treating with 2.0㎍/㎖ concentration. The overall results indicate that propagation of T.vaginalis is retarded by ornidazole treatment, and the flagellates are killed by undertaking the following mcitomotphological changes; polyribosome decomposition to single ribosomes, increase of cytoplasmic matrix and the extrusion of protoplasmic substance. Those changes might physiologically cause the decrease of protein synthesis and enzyme activity.

      • Environment Change of Marine Transportation and Inter-related Development of Shipping and Shipbuilding Industries in Korea

        Environment of marine transportation market is changing rapidly. Due to globalization of world economy, marine transportation of cargos, especially trade using container boxes, is increasing dramatically. Fierce competition in the global market of container transportation forces the shipping industry to seek the economy of scale to reduce transportation cost, and drives the merge and alliance of liner shipping companies. Mega-sized container ships, having capacity over 10,000 TEU, were introduced, and appeared recently, in order to reduce the unit transportation cost. Korean shipping and shipbuilding companies are competitive, and have considerable market share in the global market. Even though both industries are inter-connected through ships and have many common interests in order to enlarge the global market share, inter-relation between two industries is surprisingly insignificant. In this paper current issues in the process of environmental change of marine cargo transportation are reviewed, and inter-relation of shipping and shipbuilding industries is discussed. Suggestions for inter-related development of Korean shipping and shipbuilding industries are given, and means for mutually beneficial collaboration are suggested.

        Clinically, the transformation of morphea to scleroderma is rare. We report a case suggested acroselerosis transformed from guttate morphea. Patient was 30-year old woman who had generalized bean-sized depigmented macules except face since early childhood. About one year ago, Raynauds phenomenon, edema and sclerotic change of the both hands and feet were developed. On the laboratory findings, there were positive reaction for rheumatoid factor and antinauclear antibody test and increase of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Histopathologically, there were even increased collagen fibers, atherosclerotic change of the vessels and atrophic sweat glands.

        하악 2급 이개부 병변 치료시 비흡수성 차폐막과 혈소판 농축 혈장의 임상적 효과에 대한 비교 연구

        This study was performed to compare the clinical effectiveness of two regenerative techniques for class II furcation involvements in human: a combination of bone grafts with PRP vs. GTR with bone grafts. The e-PTFE group was treated with non-absorbable membrane and bone grafts, the PRP group was treated with PRP and bone grafts Pocket depth, clinical attachment level, and gingival recession were measured at baseline and postoperative 6 months. Vertical and horizontal furcation depth were measured by re-entry surgeries at 6 months post-treatment Both groups were statistically analyzed by Wilcoxon signed Ranks Test & Mann-whitney Test using SPSS program (5% significance level). The results were as follows: 1. The change of pocket depth, clinical attachment level, vertical furcation depth and horizontal furcation depth in both groups was decreased significantly at 6 months than at baseline. (p<0.05) 2. The change of gingival recession in both groups was increased significantly at 6 months than at baseline. (p<0.05) 3. The change of alveolar crest absorption in both groups was increased at 6 months than at baseline but there were no statistically significant differences. 4. The change of pocket depth, clinical attachment level, vertical furcation depth and horizontal furcation depth in both groups was increased significantly at 6 months, but there were no statistically or clinically significant differences with both groups. 5. The change of gingival recession and alveolar crest absorption in both groups was increased at 6 months, but there were no statistically or clinically significant differences with both groups. In conclusion, the use of bone graft with PRP or GTR technique improved clinical index of the soft and hard tissue in mandibular class II furcation involvement but there were no statistically or clinically significant differences between bone graft with PRP and GTR technique.

      • The Safety and Efficacy of CKD-497 in Patients with Acute Upper Respiratory Tract Infection and Bronchitis Symptoms: A Multicenter, Double-blind, Double-dummy, Randomized Controlled Phase 2 Study

        Background Botanical medicines used as expectorants and antitussives have proven to be effective while also having excellent safety margins. We aimed at evaluating the efficacy and safety of a new botanical drug, CKD-497, in patients with acute upper respiratory tract infections and bronchitis. Methods In this phase 2 study, 225 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups: placebo (n=55), Synatura® (n=49), CKD-497 200mg (n=68), or CKD-497 300mg (n=53). The study drugs were administered three times daily over the course of 7 days. Primary endpoint was the change in the bronchitis severity score (BSS) from baseline to day 7. Secondary endpoint was evaluated based on clinical response rates on days 4 and 7. A safety analysis was also performed. The Kruskal-Wallis test for intergroup differences and a Chi-square test were applied. Results Between baseline and day 7, the mean BSS scores decreased significantly in each group (P<0.001): 4.04±1.85, 4.31±1.47, 4.09±1.48, and 4.28±1.69. However, neither the CKD-497 nor Synatura® group showed any significant effect on the difference in BSS change (P=0.75). The rate of clinical response was higher in the CKD-497 300mg group as compared to the placebo only on day 4 (18% vs. 36%; P<0.05) and those having more severe bronchitis (phlegm score≥3) showed a significant reduction of total BSS in the Synatura® and CKD-497 groups (P=0.042). No significant adverse events were observed in either of the CKD-497 groups. Conclusion CKD-497 and even the positive control drug had no significant effect on BSS change in this phase 2 clinical trial. However, CKD- 497 300mg had a mild but significant clinical improvement in early bronchitis patients with more severe phlegm. Considering both efficacy and safety, a future study using 300mg of CKD-497 with a shorter-term endpoint is warranted in patients with more severe bronchitis symptoms.
