        Limiting load of solid-liquid system in the concentration range of 1~20 volume% has been correlated in terms of critical flux Richardson number, using a simple flow model. Flux Richardson number increased with the concentration of particles until the value reached 20%. Thereafter flux Richardson number reached to the critical value independent of particle size in the range of experiment.

        A method for evaluating the compaction behavior of coal-water suspensions is presented, in which the change of gravity is used to measure the sedimentation velocity. The results obtained indicate that a Richardson and Zaki type of equation can be applied to dense suspensions. The exponent n was found to be changed 4∼5 times to usual value, 4.65.

      • 관내 슬러리의 흐름특성에 관한 연구

        Slurry flow is an important transportation method in chemical plant, mining and benefication equipment. Despite of the large area of application, most of the proposed models describing the suspension mechanism does not completely satisfy engineering need because a complete description of the flow is not possible until now for its complexity of two phase flow system. In the present work, the energy equation for the flow with suspended particles was derived from simple turbulent momentum equation. Using this and diffusion equation by Hunt, a formula for the vertical concentration of the suspended particle and velocity profile could be proposed only for the case of heterogenous flow regime and was found to give a satisfactory prediction compared to experimental data. Besides diffusivity was found to be 1.3 times of the momentum transfer coefficient.

        석탄회를 이용한 제올라이트의 합성 및 암모니아성 질소 흡착

        국내 석탄 화력발전소에서 폐기되는 석탄회를 이용하여 제올라이트를 합성하였으며, 이를 이용하여 폐수 중 암모니아성 질소 제거용 흡착제로서의 활용가능성을 조사하였다. 실험결과 산에 의한 전처리 과정이 중요하고, 4M-NaOH, 반응시간 4 h, pH 7~9.5에서 합성한 제올라이트가 가장 우수한 흡착성능을 보였으며, 이는 상업용 5A형 제올라이트와 비슷한 80%의 흡착성능을 보였다. Synthetic zeolite was prepared from coal fly ash which had been abandoned from a domestic power plant as wastes, and was investigated as an absorbent for removed of ammonia from the waste water. The results suggest that pH control step in the synthesis process was an important factor for the removal capacity due to the presence of alkaline materials such as CaO and MgO in fly ash. Accordingly the zeolite synthesized at 4 M-NaOH and 4 hrs under controlling the pH7-9.5 showed the removal efficiency of 80% as much as the commertial one at its highest ate.

      • Dynamics of Metal Hydride Heat Pump

        금속수소화물은 열에너지 및 수소저장 또는 에너지변환장치 등에 많은 응용이 기대되고 있다. 특히 금속수소화물을 이용한 최근의 에너지 변환기술은 기술적으로 뿐만 아니라 경제성면에서도 그 가능성이 한층 높아지고 있다. 본문에서는 이와 같은 열변환장치의 하나인 열펌프의 제작에 필요한 동적특성을 P-C-T, 열 및 물질전달, 흡착반응속도 그리고 성능 등의 관계에서 실험 및 이론적으로 고찰하고 그 밖에 실용화에 따른 문제성도 논의하였다. Metal hydride provides wide possibility of application for hydrogen storage, thermal energy storage and energy conversion system. The recent development for the metal hydride energy conversion system means that it is now possible to manufacture the hydride facilities from the technological as well as economical point of view. In this paper metal hydride heat pump was reviewed in relation to the P-C-T characteristics, design of the metal hydride heat pump reactor, heat and mass transfer, sorption kinetics and performance experimentally as well as analytically. Technological and engineering problems were also discussed.

      • Wolbachia infection according to geographical location in Aedes albopictus (Diptera: Culicidae) in Korea

        The intracellular endosymbiont bacterium Wolbachia is currently considered the most abundant in arthropods. Many Wolbachia manipulate host reproductive systems, it lead to male-killing, cytoplasmic incompatibility, parthenogenesis and feminization of genetic males with large impact on host ecology and evolution in arthropods. In this study, we investigated the distribution of Wolbachia infection in Ae. albopictus according to geographical distribution. We selected 9 areas and collected Ae. albopictus, these areas were distinguished with mountain chain and waterway. Whole genomic DNA were extracted from collected specimens and PCR analysis were accomplished in each specimen using Wolbachia specific primers such as 16S and WSP genes. As a results, we collected 730 Ae. albopictus at least 30 specimens in each area. Wolbachia infection rate showed different patterns between geographical region. Cheonbook, Cheonnam and Yeongdong showed 100% infection rate followed by Jeju (97%), Chungchung (88%), and Gyungnam (85%) with two Wolbachia marker genes. Our results indicated that Ae. albopictus are commonly infected with Wolbachia, it is possible that Wolbachia may act as endosymbiont in Ae. albopictus regardless of geographical region. Although, low infection rate of Wolbachia, we need continuous survey for the evaluation of Wolbachia strain within Ae. albopictus as a vector of dengue fever.

        Mm 계 합금의 수소 저장에 대한 입자크기의 영향

        Metal hydride used as hydrogen storage material usually needs the activating process to store the hydrogen at high temperature or high pressure. In general as the particle size of metal hydride becomes smaller, approached to the micro, furthermore, nano scale, storage ability and reaction kinetics are reported to be increased, because the specific surface is extremely increased. But the experimental results demonstrated that the optimum particle size is existed for the best absorbing performance, opposite to the usual expectation. This results from the particles to be come amorphous with their approaching to micro and nano scale, in the storage site within the metal hydride lattice is decreased, which is proved by XRD and SEM.

        Zr-V계 Laves상 수소저장합금의 전기화학적 성질

        The Zr-based Laves phase, ZrV₂ hydrogen storage alloy is not suited for the electrode of Ni-MH battery, because the binding strength of that with hydrogen is too strong although the storage capacity is high. For an application to electrode a part of V in alloys is substituted with Ni to make weaken the binding strength. The electrochemical and thermodynamic properties of Zr-V-Ni system alloys are investigated from the equilibrium potential and studied the possibility for the application to the rechargeable battery electrode.

        Among the figures who were incorporated into the center of power during the reign of Shindon(辛旽), Lee In-im(李仁任) and Lim Bak(林樸) have intermediate characteristics, not typical of a specific political group. Considering those who were still alive even after the loss of Shindon, the actual role and status of Shindon in the political world may have been more limited than those raised in previous studies depicting Shindon as a reformer. During his reign, Shindon, as an agent of King Gong-min, only played a role in removing forces that did not meet the will of the king or threatened the royal authority. King Gong-min led new reforms by sharing appropriate roles and tasks with new aides. In the end, the assumption of Shindon individual as the subject of reform during the reign and emphasizing his reform tendency stems from the error of assuming all the achievements during the reign of Shindon under the leadership of Shindon.
