      • 3D Free-space Antenna Radiation Pattern Reconstruction from Non-anechoic Measurements using Impulse Response Method

        Several techniques for radiation pattern reconstruction to obtain free-space antenna radiation pattern are Time Reversal algorithm, Spherical Waves decomposition, FFT, matrix Pencil, Chebyshev polynomials and Hilbert Transform. These methods are a set of algorithms that when implemented avoid the use of anechoic chamber which is a standard in communication equipment certification. The objective of this paper is to investigate Impulse Response methodology for obtaining 3D free-space results from non-anechoic measurements. Two antenna configurations are studied to see effects of walls and floor specular reflections. Three standard test antennas (AUT) are simulated: Horn, Yagi and Helical. Fingerprints and pattern error show reconstruction accuracy of 3D Impulse Response over FFT method.

        New Paradigms for Colonoscopic Management of Diminutive Colorectal Polyps: Predict, Resect, and Discard or Do Not Resect?

        The possibility to predict in vivo the histology of colorectal polyps by advanced endoscopic imaging has resulted in the implementation of a more conservative management for diminutive lesions detected at colonoscopy. In detail, a predict-and-do-not-resect strategy has been proposed for diminutive lesions located in the rectosigmoid tract, whilst a predict-resect-and-discard policy has been advocated for nonrectosigmoid diminutive polyps. Recently, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy set required thresholds to be met, before allowing the adoption of these policies in the clinical field. The ability of current endoscopic imaging in reaching these thresholds would depend on a complex interaction among the accuracy of advanced endoscopic imaging in differentiating between ad-enomatous and hyperplastic lesions, the prevalence of (advanced) neoplasia within diminutive lesions, and the type of surveillance in-tervals recommended. Aim of this review is to summarize the data supporting the application of both a predict-and-do-not-resect and a predict-resect-and-discard policies, also addressing the potential pitfalls associated with these strategies.

        A genomic glimpse of B chromosomes in cichlids

        Background B chromosomes (Bs) are extra karyotype elements in addition to A chromosomes and are found in all major eukaryotic taxa. Among hundreds of investigated species, cichlid fshes have emerged as an interesting group of model and have contributed to unravel the complex biology of B chromosome. Objective We review the current state of knowledge on B chromosome investigation in cichlid fsh and discuss the recent genomic advances over gene and sequences hunting on Bs and their impact on the current concept of B chromosomes. Results The Bs of cichlids have been under the subject of classical cytogenetics and high scale DNA, RNA and epigenetics analysis and a list of B chromosome genes and functional sequences has been generated. B chromosomes of cichlids are restricted to females in some species and are enriched with genes, relics of genes, transposable elements and sequences transcribing for many signifcant biological functions. Diverse potentially functional sequences have been described in the B chromosome of cichlids and could infuence important biological characteristics as well seems to afect transcription and epigenetic modifcations of the whole genome. Conclusion One of the most enigmatic characteristics of Bs in cichlids is their genic content related to cell cycle and chromosome structure, and their infuence over sex rates. The relationship of Bs with cell cycle and sex determination looks like to be connected with the drive of the Bs during cell divisions.

        Purification and Biochemical Properties of a Glucose-Stimulated β-D-Glucosidase Produced by Humicola grisea var. thermoidea Grown on Sugarcane Bagasse

        The effect of several carbon sources on the production of mycelial-bound β-glucosidase by Humicola grisea var. thermoidea in submerged fermentation was investigated. Maximum production occurred when cellulose was present in the culture medium, but higher specific activities were achieved with cellobiose or sugarcane bagasse. Xylose or glucose (1%) in the reaction medium stimulated β-glucosidase activity by about 2-fold in crude extracts from mycelia grown in sugarcane bagasse. The enzyme was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, followed by Sephadex G-200 and DEAE-cellulose chromatography, showing a single band in PAGE and SDS-PAGE. The β-glucosidase had a carbohydrate content of 43% and showed apparent molecular masses of 57 and 60 kDa, as estimated by SDS-PAGE and gel filtration, respectively. The optimal pH and temperature were 6.0 and 50°C, respectively. The purified enzyme was thermostable up to 60 min in water at 55°C and showed half-lives of 7 and 14 min when incubated in the absence or presence of 50 mM glucose, respectively, at 60°C. The enzyme hydrolyzed p-nitrophenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside, p-nitrophenyl-β-Dgalactopyranoside,p-nitrophenyl-β-D-fucopyranoside, p-nitrophenyl-β-D-xylopyranoside, o-nitrophenyl-β-Dgalactopyranoside,lactose, and cellobiose. The best synthetic and natural substrates were p-nitrophenyl-β-Dfucopyranoside and cellobiose, respectively. Purified enzyme activity was stimulated up to 2-fold by glucose or xylose at concentrations from 25 to 200 mM. The addition of purified or crude β-glucosidase to a reaction medium containing Trichoderma reesei cellulases increased the saccharification of sugarcane bagasse by about 50%. These findings suggest that H. grisea var. thermoidea β-glucosidase has a potential for biotechnological applications in the bioconversion of lignocellulosic materials.

        Gaofen-1 WFV 영상을 이용한 딥러닝 기반 대형 부유조류 분류

        매년 황해와 동중국해에서는 대형 부유조류인 녹조와 갈조가 대량으로 발생하고 있다. 이러한 대형 부유조류는 연안의 양식 시설물이나 해변으로 유입되며, 제거하는데 막대한 경제적 손실을 발생시킨다. 현재는 연안으로 유입되는 대형 부유조류를 탐지하기 위해 원격탐사 방법이 활발하게 사용되고 있다. 그러나 대형 부유조류는 해양의 다양한 대상들과 중첩되는 파장이 존재하기에 이를 정확하게 탐지하는데 한계가 있다. 더욱이 녹조와 갈조는 유사한 스펙트럼 특성을 보이기 때문에 원격탐사 자료를 이용한 구분을 더욱 어렵게 만든다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위성 영상에 딥러닝 기법을 적용하여 녹조와 갈조를 효과적으로 구분하고자 하였다. 이를 위한 네트워크를 결정하기 위해 최적의 학습 조건을 찾아 AlexNet 신경망을 전이 학습하였으며, 학습과 검증을 위해 Gaofen-1 WFV 영상을 이용하여 데이터셋을 구성하였다. 최적의 학습 조건으로 학습된 네트워크를 이용하여 실험 데이터에 대한 결과를 확인하였다. 그 결과 실험 데이터에 대한 정확도는 88.89%를 보였으며, 녹조와 갈조에 대해 각각 66.67%와 100%의 정밀도로 구분이 가능하였다. 이는 전이 학습된 AlexNet 신경망이 녹조와 갈조의 미세한 차이를 구분할 수 있는 것으로 해석된다. 본 연구를 통해 해양의 다양한 대상으로부터 녹조와 갈조를 효과적으로 분류하고 각각 구분할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Every year, the floating macroalgae, green and golden tide, are massively detected at the Yellow Sea and East China Sea. After influx of them to the aquaculture facility or beach, it occurs enormous economic losses to remove them. Currently, remote sensing is used effectively to detect the floating macroalgae flowed into the coast. But it has difficulties to detect the floating macroalgae exactly because of the wavelength overlapped with other targets in the ocean. Also, it is difficult to distinguish between green and golden tide because they have similar spectral characteristics. Therefore, we tried to distinguish between green and golden tide applying the Deep learning method to the satellite images. To determine the network, the optimal training conditions were searched to train the AlexNet. Also, Gaofen-1 WFV images were used as a dataset to train and validate the network. Under these conditions, the network was determined after training, and used to confirm the test data. As a result, the accuracy of test data is 88.89%, and it can be possible to distinguish between green and golden tide with precision of 66.67% and 100%, respectively. It is interpreted that the AlexNet can be pick up on the subtle differences between green and golden tide. Through this study, it is expected that the green and golden tide can be effectively classified from various objects in the ocean and distinguished each other.

        Interval and continuous aerobic exercise training similarly increase cardiac function and autonomic modulation in infarcted mice

        The present study aimed to compare the effects of moderate-intensity continuous and high-intensity interval exercise training (ET) on exercise tolerance, cardiac morphometry and function, hemodynamic, and car-diac autonomic modulation in myocardial infarcted mice. Wild-type mice (WT) were divided into four groups: sedentary WT (S); WT myo-cardium infarction sedentary (IS); WT myocardium infarction under-went to moderate-intensity continuous ET (MICT), and WT myocardium infarction underwent to high-intensity interval ET (MIIT). After 60 days of descending coronary artery ligation, moderate-intensity continuous ET consisted of running at 60% of maximum, while the high-intensity in-terval training consisted of eight sprints of 4 min at 80% of maximum and a 4-min recovery at 40% of maximum. Both exercises were per-formed 1 hr a day, 5 days a week, during 8 weeks. Results demonstrated that IS showed elevated exercise tolerance, as well as decreased he-modynamic and heart function, and autonomic control. On the other hand, both programs of ET were equally effective to increase all param-eters, without further differences between the groups. In conclusion, the results of the present study showed that myocardial infarction leads to damage in both investigated strains and the two types of physical ex-ercise attenuated the major impairments provoked by myocardial in-farction in exercise tolerance, cardiac structure, cardiac function, he-modynamic and cardiac autonomic modulation.

        Modulation-Agnostic Spectrum Sensing based on Anomaly detection for Cognitive Radio

        This work proposes a Spectrum Sensing (SS) scheme based on a Convolutional Autoencoder (CAE) for application in Cognitive Radio Networks. The channel occupancy is modeled as an anomaly detection problem. The CAE is trained only with noise-signal samples so that any random modulated signal observed in the wireless channel will be regarded as an outlier. The relationship between the detection threshold and the system performance is evaluated. Experiments demonstrate that the SS proposal can identify primary signal presence with better accuracy (high detection and low false alarm rate) than conventional Energy Detection.

        Implementation and lessons learned from 2 online interprofessional faculty development programs for improving educational practice in the health professions in Chile and the United Kingdom from 2018 to 2021

        This study presents the design, implementation, and lessons learned from 2 fit-for-purpose online interprofessional faculty development programs for educational practice improvement in the health professions in Chile and the United Kingdom from 2018 to 2021. Both programs were designed to enhance teaching and learning practices in an interprofessional environment based on 4 pillars: professional diversity, egalitarianism, blended/online learning, and active learning strategies. A multidisciplinary mix of educators participated, showing similar results. The 3 main lessons learned were that the following factors facilitated an interprofessional environment: aprofessions-inclusive teaching style, a flexible learning climate, and interprofessional peer work. These lessons may be transferable toother programs seeking to enhance and support interprofessionality. Faculty development initiatives preparing educators for interprofessional practice should be an integral component of health professions education, as delivering these courses within professional silosis no longer justifiable. As the relevance of interprofessional education grows, an effective way of promoting interprofessonal educationis to train the trainers in formal interprofessional settings.
