Digital Current Mode Control Approach for the Parallel Module DC-DC Converters
Bohyung Cho,Hyunsu Bae 전력전자학회 2007 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.- No.-
This paper presents the digital current mode control employing nonlinear resistive current mode control and digital state feedback control using the pole placement technique for parallel interleaved DC-DC converters. The former method achieves current sharing by converting the effective input characteristic of the converters seen by the source to a resistive load sink. The latter method derives the discrete state feedback controller structure for robust tracking control using the error state. For the design example of the two control scheme, a prototype hardware system with two 100W parallel module buck converters with a TMS320F2812 DSP has been built and tested.
Design And Implementation of a Novel Sustain Driver for Plasma Display Panel
Pankaj Agarwal,Woosup Kim,Bohyung Cho 전력전자학회 2006 전력전자학술대회 논문집 Vol.- No.-
Over the years, plasma display panel (PDP) manufacturers have impressed the flat panel display industry with yet another new product essentially having the merits of a larger screen size. Since larger size implies higher power ratings, voltage/current ratings of the power devices used have become a rising concern. Another important concern is the brightness of PDP, one way of increasing which is by operating the PDP at higher frequencies. In order to address the above issues, a transformer coupled sustain-driver for AC-PDP is proposed. During the transition time, the two windings of the transformer greatly boost up the displacement current flowing through the panel capacitance and hence enable a fast inversion of the voltage polarity with practical values of resonant inductance. In the proposed topology, the resonant inductance can be increased by a factor of (n+1)² as compared to prior approaches. Increased inductance results in lower current stresses. Moreover, high frequency operation is possible by using higher value of n (tum ratio of the transformer). The operational principle and design procedure of the proposed circuit are presented with theoretical analysis. The validity of the proposed sustain driver is established through simulation and experimental results using a 42-in PDP
SOC/Capacity Estimation of a Li-Ion Battery based on Pattern Recognition at Different Temperature
Jonghoon Kim,Seongjun Lee,Bohyung Cho 전력전자학회 2011 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2011 No.5
Differences in electrochemical characteristics among Li-Ion batteries caused by temperature effect result in erroneous state-of-charge (SOC)/capacity estimations when using the existing dual extended Kalman filter (DEKF) algorithm is used. Therefore, this study presents an application of the DEKF based on pattern recognition combined with empirical parameters measurement for high accuracy SOC/capacity estimations at various temperatures. The averaged 9 discharging/charging voltage-temperature (DCVT) patterns for 10 fresh Li-Ion batteries at experimental temperatures are measured as representative patterns, together with battery model parameters such as capacity, open circuit voltage (OCV), and two resistances (Ri, RDiff). Through statistical analysis, the Hamming network is applied for identification of the representative pattern that matches most closely of the pattern of the arbitrary battery to be measured at any temperature. Based on temperature-checking process, model parameters for representative DCVT pattern can be then applied to estimate SOC/capacity of an arbitrary battery using the DEKF. This avoids the need for repeated parameter measurement.

This study investigates an application of the Hamming network-dual extended Kalman filter (DEKF) based on pattern recognition for high accuracy state-of-charge (SOC)/capacity estimation and state-of-health (SOH) prediction at various temperatures. The averaged nine discharging/charging voltage-temperature (DCVT) patterns for ten fresh Li-Ion cells at experimental temperatures are measured as representative patterns, together with cell model parameters. Through statistical analysis, the Hamming network is applied to identify the representative pattern that matches most closely with the pattern of an arbitrary cell measured at any temperature. Based on temperature-checking process, model parameters for a representative DCVT pattern can then be applied to estimate SOC/capacity and to predict SOH of an arbitrary cell using the DEKF. This avoids the need for repeated parameter measuremet.

Red sea cucumber Stichopus japonicus is an invertebrate animal inhabiting in coasts of Korea, China, and Japan. They are traditionally used for food and medicine and well known for their distinctive biologically and pharmacologically important compounds. We investigated the effect of amyloglucosidase (AMG) enzymatic extracts of S. japonicus (AESJ) on the proliferation and cytokine secretion of murine splenocytes stimulated with concanavalin A (Con A). AESJ enhanced the proliferation of splenocytes and the production of IL-2 (Th1 cytokine), IL-1β (Th1 promoting cytokine), and IL-4, IL-10 (Th2 type cytokines) when treated alone. However, under Con A stimulation, AESJ suppressed the proliferation of splenocytes, attenuated the secretion of IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, and enhanced IL-1β secretion. These results suggest that AESJ exhibits immunomodulatory effect by moderating the proliferation of splenocytes and the secretion of IL-2, IL-1β, IL-4, and IL-10 differently depending on the absence and presence of Con A stimulation. These data evidence the immunomodulatory potential of AESJ, which can be further developed into a functional food mediating homeostasis.

CONCLUSIONTaken together, these results suggest that PPEE has an immune stimulatory effect on macrophages, dendritic cells, and memory T cells. This property signifies the potential medicinal value of PPEE in clinical implications for immune-compromised diseases. (c) 2017 Society of Chemical Industry
