        Bacterial Diversity in Soil Surround Subterranean Termites-Damaged Wooden Buildings in Seonamsa Temple and Effect of the Termites on Bacterial Diversity in Humus Soil

        In order to determine the changes in microbial community due to termites, soil microorganisms surrounding the termites were investigated. First, bacterial communities from soil with termites collected at Seonamsa temple, Suncheon city, Korea were compared by next-generation sequencing (NGS, Illumina Miseq). The bacterial composition of soil from Daeungjeon without termites and the soil from Josadang, Palsangjeon, and Samjeon with termites were compared. Next, the bacterial composition of these soils was also compared with that of humus soil cultured with termites. A total high-quality sequences of 71,942 and 72,429 reads were identified in Seonamsa temple's soil and humus soil, respectively. The dominant phyla in the collected Seonamsa temple's soil were Proteobacteria (27%), Firmicutes (24%) and Actinobacteria (21%), whereas those in the humus soil were Bacteriodetes (56%) and Proteobacteria (37%). Using a two-dimensional plot to explain the principal coordinate analysis of operational taxonomic unit compositions of the soil samples, it was confirmed that the samples were divided into soil with and without termites, and it was especially confirmed that the Proteobacteria phylum was increased in humus soil with termites than in humus soil without termites.

        Enhanced Glycolysis Supports Cell Survival in EGFR-Mutant Lung Adenocarcinoma by Inhibiting Autophagy-Mediated EGFR Degradation

        <P>Enhanced glycolysis by EGFR mutation is required for maintaining EGFR levels via inhibition of JNK-induced autophagy. This provides a promising rationale for use of JNK activators in patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC.</P><P>Oncogenic EGFR is essential for the development and growth of non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but the precise roles of EGFR in lung cancer metabolism remain unclear. Here, we show that EGFR mutation-mediated enhancement of glycolysis is critical for EGFR stability. EGFR knockdown significantly decreased levels of glycolytic pathway intermediates via transcriptional regulation of glycolytic genes. EGFR mutation-enhanced glycolysis was required for fueling the tricarboxylic acid cycle, a critical component of EGFR stability. Nonsustained ATP production enhanced reactive oxygen species accumulation and subsequent JNK-mediated activation of autophagy, which in turn induced EGFR degradation. Our data show that EGFR-mutant NSCLCs require EGFR mutation-enhanced glycolysis to maintain EGFR stability. This pathway may serve as an attractive therapeutic target for EGFR-mutant NSCLCs.</P><P><B>Significance:</B> Enhanced glycolysis by EGFR mutation is required for maintaining EGFR levels via inhibition of JNK-induced autophagy.         Molecular Phylogeny and Divergence Time Estimation of the Soft Coral Dendronephthya gigantea (Alcyonacea: Nephtheidae)

        Soft coral Dendronephthya gigantea (Verrill, 1864) is a conspicuous species dominating shallow sea waters of Jejudo Island, Korea. Recently its whole mitochondrial genome sequencing was completed by us and the sequence information provided an opportunity to test the age of Octocorallia and time of evolutionary separation between some representative orders of the subclass Octocorallia. Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on 13 mitochondrial protein encoding genes revealed a polyphyletic relationship among octocorallians representing two orders (Alcyonacea and Gorgonacea) and four families (Alcyoniidae, Nephtheidae, Briareidae, and Gorgoniidae). Estimates of divergence times among octocorallians indicate that the first splitting might occur around end of or after Cretaceous period (50-79 million years ago (Ma)). The age is relatively young compared to the long history of stony sea corals (>240 Ma). Taken together our result suggests a possible relatively recent radiating evolution at least in the order Alcyonacea and Gorgonacea. Molecular dating and phylogenetic analysis based on much broader taxon sampling and many genes might give an insight into this interesting hypothesis.

        This paper discusses a Discrete Time Markov Chain (DTMC) model to analyze the walks, picks, and blocked states of two workers in a wide aisle circular-passage system. We develop a DTMC model when two workers pass one pick face with half of unit pick time, and derive the throughput loss model in a closed-form expression. We test the model with a simulation study to determine how the passing allowance assumption can improve operational throughput. The results show that the avoidance delay while passing impacts the throughput. We believe that the analytical model is an important step in developing a general blocking model in a wide aisle circular-passage system.

        중복피해 관점에서의 청소년기 폭력피해 경험과 성피해 경험과의 연관성

        본 연구의 목적은 청소년기의 폭력피해 경험과 성피해 경험과의 연관성을 알아보고, 사회적 보호요인의 조절효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 2018년 여성가족부에서 실시한‘청소년 매체이용 및유해환경 실태조사’에서 수집된 데이터를 활용하여 전국의 초등학교 4학년부터 고등학교 3학년까지의청소년 15,657명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 첫째, 조사대상자 중 2.65%(411명)가성피해 경험이 있다고 응답하였다. 둘째, 폭력피해 경험이 있는 청소년들은 성피해 노출에 대한 위험이 더욱 높았다. 이는 한 유형의 폭력에 노출되면 다른 유형의 폭력과 피해에 더 취약해질 수 있는중복피해(poly-victimization)와 맥락을 같이한다. 셋째, 폭력피해와 성피해와의 관계에서 사회적 보호요인의 조절효과로는 또래 보호요인만 유의한 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었는데, 그 영향은 오히려 부정적인 방향으로 발현되고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해 이미 폭력과 같은 부정적인경험으로부터 청소년을 보호하고, 이미 노출된 아이들에 대해서도 적극적인 개입이 필요함을 시사한다. 또한 나쁜 또래관계의 질이 피해에 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 학생들의 또래관계의 질 관리 및향상에 대한 연구가 필요함을 시사한다 The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the violence victimization and sexual victimization in adolescence, and to verify the moderating effect of social protective factors. This study surveyed 15,657 adolescents from the fourth grade of elementary school to the third grade of high school nationwide using data collected from the ’A survey on the utilization on youth media and the status of the harmful environment‘ conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2018. The main findings of the study were: First, 2.65% (411 persons) of the survey subjects answered that they had sexual victimization. Second, adolescents with violence victimization were at higher risk of exposure to sexual victimization. This is in line with poly-victimization, where exposure to one type of violence can make you more vulnerable to other types of violence victimization. Third, in the relationship between violence and sexual victimization, it was found that only peer protective factors had a significant effect on the moderating effect of social protective factors, but it was confirmed that the effects were expressed in a rather negative direction. These results suggest that adolescents should be protected from negative experiences such as violence, and active intervention is necessary for children who have already been exposed. In addition, since the quality of bad peer relations can affect damage, it suggests that research on the quality management and improvement of students peer relations is necessary.

        자폐스펙트럼장애를 가진 영유아를 대상으로 한 M-CHAT의 신뢰도 및 타당도 연구

        본 연구는 16개월~47개월 사이 69명의 자폐스펙트럼장애 영유아와 29명의 일반유아를 대상으로 자폐스펙트럼장애를 선별하기 위한 영유아 자폐 선별검사(M-CHAT)의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하고 유용성을 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 영유아 자폐성 장애의 통합적 조기 선별도구 및 서비스 개발연구에 참여한 영유아와 부모였다. 측정도구는 Robins의 Website에 탑재되어있는 23문항을 번역한 M-CHAT, 유아 행동평가척도(CBCL 1.5-5)와 아동기 자폐증평정척도(CARS)가 사용되었다. 연구결과 M-CHAT의 문항 간 내적 일치도와 검사-재검사 신뢰도에 비교적 높은 신뢰도가 검증되었으며, M-CHAT의 고변별 6문항 선별 기준과 CBCL 1.5-5의 DSM 전반적 발달문제 하위척도 T점수와 상관계수, 전체 23문항 선별 기준과 CBCL 1.5-5의 DSM 전반적 발달문제 하위척도 T점수와의 상관계수 검증을 통해 공인타당도가 확인되었다. 고변별 6문항 선별 기준과 CARS 총점과의 상관계수, 전체 23문항 선별 기준과 CARS 총점과의 상관계수 검증을 통해 공인타당도가 확인되었다. 고변별 6문항 선별 기준 적용 방식인 0.5점을 기준으로 한 경우 민감도 84%, 특이도 86%이고, 전체 23문항 선별 기준 적용 방식인 3.5점을 기준으로 한 경우 민감도 74%, 특이도 86%로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 국내 16~47개월 사이 자폐스펙트럼장애 영유아를 대상으로 M-CHAT의 신뢰도, 타당도를 검증한 것에 의의가 있다. The purpose of this study was to verify the reliability and validity of The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers(M-CHAT) and examine its usefulness by administrating it to 16-47 months old toddlers. The subjects were 69 16-47 months old toddlers with autism spectrum disorder and 29 ones from general population, and their parents. The measurement instruments were the M-CHAT, a translation of original author's 23 items posted on Robins' website, the Child Behavior Checklist(CBCL 1.5-5), and the Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS). The results showed that, for the M-CHAT, the internal agreement was 0.90(p< 0.01), and the test-retest reliability was 0.70(p< 0.01) for six critical items and 0.76(p< 0.01) for all 23 items, indicating high reliability. The correlation coefficients were found to be 0.60(p< 0.01) between DSM global developmental problem subscale T-score of CBCL 1.5-5 and selection criteria of six critical items from M-CHAT and 0.55(p< 0.01) for all 23 items from M-CHAT. In addition, the correlation coefficients were 0.66(p<0.01) between CARS total score and selection criteria of six critical items from M-CHAT and 0.63(p< 0.01) for all 23 items from M-CHAT. This study contributed in the field by verifying the reliability and validity of M-CHAT in Korean 16-47 months old toddlers with autism spectrum disorder.
