N/A In order to observe the response of counterregulatory hormones to hypoglycemia in diabetics, plasma glucose, Glucagon, epinephrine and norepinephrine concentrations were measured in an insulin-induced hypoglycemic state. the Blood sample were taken before and 15,30,60; 90 and 120 minutes after intravenous injection of 0.1-0.2 U/kg of purified regular insulin in 16 healthy volunteers, 2 IDDM and 18 NIDDM patients after 12 of hours overnight fasting. The results were as follows: 1. In the normal control, plasma glucose concentration after insulin injection decreased abruptly to reach nadir in 30 minutes (42.6±14.4 mg/dl) while glucagon secretion increased two fold above the baseline in 33 minutes (93.3±32.1 to 204.4±85.5pg/ml, p>0.001). Epinephrine secretion in response to hypoglycemia was abrupt and increased tenfold above the baseline in 30 minutes (from 80.0±22.8 to 876.6±182.7 pg/ml), 2. In IDDM and NIDDM patients, the plasma glucose concentration after insulin injection decreased slowly to reach nadir in 60 mintues while the glucagon response in diabetic groups were depressed, especially in the IDDM group. Also, epinephrine secretion in response to hypoglycemia was severely depressed in the IDDM group but slightly preserved in the NJDDM group. The results of this study indicate that counter- regulatory hormones (glucagon and epinephrine) in diabetics show delayed and depressed responses to hypoglycemia. Norepinephrine does not play a major role in the metabolic response to insulin-induced hypoglycemia in both normal and diabetic people,

본 연구에서는 환경분야 및 국토개발계획 수립을 위한 기초자료인 토지피복도의 건물 추출에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. LiDAR 데이터를 이용하여 제작한 격자 크기 1m의 DSM과 DEM을 이용하여 nDSM을 제작하고, 이를 참조 데이터로 건물 추출 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과 영상만을 이용한 건물 추출에 비하여 영상에 LiDAR 데이터를 참조할 경우 높은 분류 정확도를 얻을 수 있었다.

Flow distribution in a header of a parallel flow heat exchanger was experimentally investigated using R-134a. Both downward and upward flow configuration were tested with tubes protruded to the center of the header. For the test range, the flow pattern at the inlet of the header was identified as stratified flow. It was observed that, for the downward flow, most of the liquid was extracted from the frontal part of the header. For the upward flow, however, most of the liquid was extracted from the rear part of the header. For the downward configuration, better distribution was obtained at a low mass flux and at a low quality. For the upward configuration, however, the mass flux or quality had minor influence on the flow distribution.

N/A Serum thyroglobulin (Tg) levels were measured by radioimmunoassay in patients with Graves` disease before and after antithyroid drug therapy in an attempt to evaluate the clinical significance of the serum Tg. The result were as follows: 1) The serum Tg level in untreated patients (n=29) was 45.6±21ng/ml, which was significantly higher than that of normal controls (n=15), 9.2±3.2ng/ml. 2) The serum Tg levels in treated TRH-responsive patients (n=25) and in treated TRH-nonresponsive patients (n=29) were 18.5±10.7ng/ml, 25.2±12.9ng/ml respectively, which were significantly lower than that of untreated patients. The serum Tg level in TRH-responsive patients was significantly lower than that of TRH-nonresponsive patients. 3) There were no correlation between serum Tg level and serum T3 T4 or the duration of therapy. Above results suggest that serum Tg levels change according to the degree of activity of Graves disease and could be used as an index for evaluation of remission.

The row-by-row heat transfer characteristics of fin-and-tube heat exchangers were experimentally investigated. Three wavy fin samples having different rows (one, two and three) and one plain fin sample (three row) were tested for 600≤Re<SUB>D</SUB>≤4,000. The heat transfer data were obtained for individual rows, and the corresponding heat transfer coefficients were reduced from the data. Results showed that the heat transfer coefficients were strongly dependent on the tube row. The heat transfer coefficient decreased as the tube row increased. However, the row effect was different depending on the fin shape. For the wavy fin, the row effect significantly decreased as the Reynolds number increased, yielding approximately the same heat transfer coefficients at Re<SUB>D</SUB>?2,500. For the plain fin, however, the row effect lasted for the whole Reynolds number range. The increased mixing of bulk flow by wavy channels appears to induce high heat transfer coefficient (accordingly diminishing row effect) at down-stream rows. The heat transfer coefficients of individual rows were higher for heat exchangers having larger tube rows.

The hybrid air-conditioner, where air is cooled both by convection and radiation, is developed. The indoor unit of the air-conditioner consists of radiation panel and dehumidification coil, where refrigeration R-134a is supplied by independent refrigeration cycles. Optimum refrigerant charge was 750g for both cycles. Optimum evaporation pressure was 3.7 bar for the radiation panel cycle and 3.9 bar for the dehumidication cycle. The cooling capacity of the radiation panel was 1.01 ㎾ and that of the dehumidification coil was 0.94kW, which yielded COP of 3.3.

N/A To evaluate the therapeutic effect and usefulness of DAV combination chemotherapy, 12 patients with adult acute myelogenous leukemia were treated with a DAV (Doxorubicin 45 ㎎/㎡ 4, days 3-5, Ara-C 100 ㎎/㎡ 4, days 1-8 and VP-16 100 ㎎/㎡ 4, days 6-8) regimen for remission induction. The results were as follows: 1) The rate of complete remission was 10/13 (76.9%) including one case of re-induction chemotherapy. 2) The median remission duration and the median survival duration in-completely remitted patients were 8 months (1-16 months) and 10 months (2-25 months), respectively. 3) Two among the 9 remitted patients were relapsed (22%). 4) The 2-year survival rates of all patients, the completely remitted patients and the in-completely remitted patients were 33%, 50% and 0%, respectively. 5) The drug toxicities of grade 3 or more (grade 2 or more in anorexia, nausea and alopecia) according to ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) toxicity criteria were as follows: leukopenia-11/12 (92%), anorexia and nausea-8/12 (67%), alopecia-8/12 (67%), mucositis and stomatitis-7/12 (58%) and hemorrhage-5/12 (42%). Thus, we conclude that DAV combination chemotherapy is one of the useful and encouraging therapeutic regimens in remission induction of adult acute myelogenous leukemia.
