This study examined the experience of social workers at a child protection agency who managed sexual abuse cases. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven social workers who had more than three years of experience with sexual abuse cases at the agency, and the resulting data were analyzed using general qualitative research methods. From the analysis, 26 subcategories were created based on 125 concepts, and seven categories were derived. The seven categories are: failure to protect against the risk of sexual abuse; re-experiencing the wound; empathizing with the child victim and their guardian and building trust; and frequent case intervention that lasted for a long time; I was exhausted from the wound and had no strength to stand up; I tried to overcome the hardship; and I felt rewarded by a small recovery in the victim. While managing cases, participants were unable to protect children and were re-experiencing the wounds during the investigation, but they sympathized with the victims, tried to build trust, and felt rewarded to see children recover. Through these results, development of a manual that considers characteristics of child sexual abuse cases, management of counselors psychological difficulties, and strengthening case management capabilities are discussed.
이중문화수용태도와 다문화청소년의 학교적응과의 관계에서 사회적위축의 매개효과

본 연구에서는 다문화청소년의 학교적응에 관심을 가지고, 이에 영향을 미치는 이중문화수용태도와 그 관계에서 사회적위축의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 분석을 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수행한 다문화청소년패널조사 1기 9차 자료(2019)의 고등학교 3학년 1,121명을 PROCESS macro for SPSS(V.3.5.2) 및 STATA 17.0을 활용하여 분석하였다. 군집분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이중문화수용태도에 따른 유형은‘한국문화친밀형’,‘외국문화친밀형’,‘이중문화친밀형’으로 분류되었다. 둘째, 군집유형에 따른 학교적응과 사회적위축의 평균을 비교한 결과 이중문화친밀형이 다른 두 유형에 비해 통계적으로 유의미하게 사회적위축이 낮고 학교적응 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 모든 집단에서 이중문화수용태도가 학교적응에 정적인 영향을 미치고, 사회적위축에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 사회적위축의 매개효과는 이중문화친밀형과 한국문화친밀형에서만 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 다문화청소년이 한국과 외국문화 중 어느 한쪽만이 아닌 두 영역 모두에서 수용적이고 친밀한 태도가 형성되어야 함을 시사한다. 이를 기반으로 본 연구에서는 다문화청소년의 학교적응을 위해 한국문화와 외국문화 특성이 동시에 존재하는 이중문화수용태도를 고려할 필요성이 있음을 지적하고, 사회적위축을 낮추고, 학교적응을 높이기 위한 대안을 제시하였다. This study examined school adaptation and social withdrawal levels of multicultural youth in groups based on their acculturation attitudes. Secondary data from the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study (MAPS) conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute (NYPI) in 2019 were used. Statistical analysis was performed using PROCESS macro for SPSS and STATA 17.0. A total of 1,121 students in the 12th grade were included in the analysis. Results of group analysis were as follows. First, three types of groups were identified according to their attitudes towards cultural acceptance: a "Korean-culture-friendly group", a "Foreign-culture-friendly group", and a "Bicultural group". Second, when comparing average levels of school adaptation and social withdrawal of the three groups, the Bicultural group showed statistically significant lower levels of social withdrawal but higher levels of school adaptation than the other two groups. Third, the mediating effect of social withdrawal was confirmed in Bicultural and Korean-culture-friendly groups. These findings suggest that the Korean government, communities, and schools should make sustained efforts to foster attitudes of cultural accommodation among young people with respect to both Korean and Foreign cultures in order to counteract social withdrawal and improve school adaptation.
