Reactive Expressions in Private Speech: Interactional Dynamics

Although the importance of private speech in cognition has been discussed, empirical research on the analysis of the dialogic aspects of private speech has not been focused on as much as its importance. In this study, I discuss the interactional dynamics, or the dialogic aspect, of private speech in the framework of sociocultural theory through investigating reactive expressions in private speech. Similar to social speech, one of the main types found in the current private speech data was reactive expressions, such as acknowledgement (uptake), assessments, complaints, juncture markers of the process, and expressions of affect when facing difficulties in the learners’ learning processes. The term ‘reactive expression’ was used to establish or maximize the relationship between speakers and listeners in conversation. Applying the methods of micro-discourse analysis, the functions of reactive expressions in this study ultimately illustrate the structural parallels between social speech and private speech. By focusing on the dialogic aspects of private speech, therefore, I demonstrate how the participants interact with themselves and with their objects of study in mediating their higher mental processes, thereby demonstrating the origin of private speech from social speech as Vygotsky asserted.

규칙기반 영상분류 방법의 제주도 지역의 적용

Geographic features are reflected in satellite images, which contain characteristic elements. Information on changes can be obtained through a comparison of images taken at different times. If multi-temporal images can be classified through the use of an unsupervised method, this is likely to improve the accuracy of image classification and contribute to various applications . A rule-based image classification algorithm for automatic processing without human involvement has been developed, but it must be verified that its results are not affected by imperfect elements. In this study, Landsat images of Jeju Island were used to carry out a rule- based image classification. The application results were examined for complex cases, including the presence of clouds in the images, different photographed times, and the type of target area, such as city, mountain, or field. The presence of clouds did not affect calculations, and appropriate classification rules were applied, depending on the different photographed times. The expansion of the urban areas of Jeju and the increase of facilities such as vinyl greenhouses in Seoguipo were identified. Furthermore, space information changes and accurate classifications for Jeju Island were obtained. With the goal of performing high-quality unsupervised classifications, measures to generalize and improve the methods employed were searched for. The findings of this study could be used in time-series analyses of images for various applications, including urban development and environmental change monitoring. 지형지물은 각각의 특징적 요인을 내포하고 있어 촬영된 위성영상에 반영된다. 촬영시기가 다른 영상을 통하여 변화에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있다. 다중시기 영상을 무감독 방법으로 분류할 수 있다면 영상 분류의 정확도를 높여 주고, 여러 응용분야에 기여할 수 있다. 규칙기반 영상분류 알고리즘은 사람의 직접적인 개입이 없이 자동화된 방법으로 처리 되도록 개발되었으나, 불완전 요소에 결과가 영향 받는지 확인되어야 한다. 이 연구에서는 제주도 지역의 Landsat 영상으로 규칙기반 영상분류를 수행하였다. 영상의 구름의 존재하고 촬영시기의 차이가 있는 경우, 대상지가 도시, 산지, 농지 등 복합적인 경우에 대하여 적용 결과를 확인하였다. 구름이 있는 부분의 경우, 계수에 영향을 주지 않았으며, 촬영시기의 차이에 따라 분류규칙이 적절이 반영되었다. 제주시 도시지역의 확장, 서귀포시의 비닐하우스 등의 시설물 개체 수 증가 등을 파악 할 수 있었다. 제주도 지역의 공간정보 변화 파악과 분류 정확도를 얻을 수 있었다. 양질의 무감독 분류가 수행되는 것을 목표로 하여 방법의 일반화 및 개선방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 향후 도시개발, 환경변화 모니터링 등 영상 시계열 분석에 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this article is to study Aemilia Lanyei s spirituality and its relationship to the culturally constructed femininity in the early modern period. In $quot;Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum.$quot; Lanyer's religious experiences are very feminine, in terms that they frequently are represented through such female activities as preparing food, birth, lactation, and mirror watching. This means that her spirituality was constructed by the ideas of femininity which were formed by a male-centered culture and supported by religious(Judeo-Christian) ideologies. Lanyei s female spirituality inherits the legacies of religious women in late medieval Europe. whose devotions emphasized the meditation on the passion of Jesus, and the incarnation and the humanity of Christ. Food themes were also located at the heart of their religious practice. To them as well as to Lanyer, the tortured body of Jesus is the bread of life and his blood the drink of life. When crucified Jesus becomes food, he becomes female, because woman's body is often referred to as food. Jesus also became female, when he was clothed in fleshly humanness only from Mary. Incarnate Word. Jesus disturbs the dichotomy of western thought that the man is spirituality and woman is flesh. This dichotomy is again disrupted and man becomes flesh, no better than woman, when Lanyer's passion story as a $quot;mirror$quot; reflects that ignorant. frail and weak men are responsible for Jesus' death. This subversively means that woman, the image of man, not of God, becomes God-like through Jesus, and thus equal to man. The mystery of incarnation also demolishes the boundaries between classes. since Jesus, the heavenly king, humbled himself to be born as one among the low, the weak and the oppressed. Lanyer as a woman from the low class who prepares spiritual food for her patronesses, has stronger affinities with Jesus than her noble readers. Lanyer fully accepts and internalizes the femininity constructed by society and religion, and fashions her female spirituality through that femininity. At the same time she finds in the incarnation and passion of Jesus the subversive powers to go beyond the cultural boundary of femininity and to proclaim the equality between man and woman, and the high born and low born.

When Henry V is preparing to invade France in Shakespeare's Henry V, the king requests the Archbishop of Canterbury to "justly and religiously unfold"(I. ii 10) why the Salique law of France can not bar his claim to the throne of France. The authenticity of his claim derives from the maternal grandfather of Edward II, Philip IV of France. The Archbishop of Canterbury sanctions the king's invasion, denouncing the unjustness of the Salique law that "no woman shall succeed in Salique land." Then the Archbishop strengthens this sanction by depending on the authority of the book Numbers 27. 8, which says "when the man dies, let the inheritance descend unto the daughter"(I. ii. 98-100). In this sanction, the church not only justifies the king's claim of war but also gives "a greater sum / Than ever at one time the clergy yet / Did to his predecessors part with al"(I. i, 79-80). The purpose of the generosity of the church is to prevent the passing of law, the effect of which makes the church lose all the properties not used for strictly religious purpose. Henry V as "a true lover of the holy Church" acknowledges the authority of the church in the national affairs and the church in return guards the king's claim to the throne of France with the divine sanction.

미디어 활용과 창의력을 돕는 영어학습자료 연구 : 고등학교 과정을 중심으로

본 논문은 정보화, 국제화된 현대 사회에서 창의성 함양 및 영어 의사소통능력이 중요함을 인식하고, 고등학생들의 창의성, 비판적 사고력, 자기주도성을 길러줄 수 있는 교과과정 분석연구에 기초하여, 창의력 향상을 기반으로 한 영어학습자료 연구를 그 목적으로 한다. 특히 비판적응용언어학과 의사소통 언어교수법에 이론적 토대를 두고 실생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 영화, 광고 등의 미디어를 활용한 영어학습 자료를 구성하여 보았다. 창의력 향상을 위한 기본 원리로는 Birckbichler(1982)의 ‘확산적인 언어수행과 창의적인 활동’이라는 관점에서 그의 네 가지의 창의적 활동으로 나누어 분석 적용하였다. 즉, “유창성(fluency), 유연성(flexibility), 정교성(elaboration), 독창성(originality)”을 신장시켜주는 영어 수업 활동들을 소개하였다. 학습 자료로 활용된 영화로는 포스트모더니즘적 사고가 녹아있는 만화영화 ‘슈렉’을 선정하였고, 그 밖에 다양한 상상력을 이끌어 낼 수 있는 광고와 현대미술 작품들을 수업 활동 교재로 선정하여 창의력향상에 전략적 접근을 할 수 있는 학습 자료를 고안하였다. 유아, 초등, 및 중학교 과정까지의 보조 학습자료 연구는 활발히 진행되어져왔으나, 고등학교 영어교과과정에서 창의력 향상을 위한 영어 학습 자료 연구는 비교적 미진해왔던 관계로 본 연구가 이러한 현실에 의미 있는 기여를 할 수 있으리라 기대된다. Based on our previous research (Lee & Lee, 2013) on a comparison of the English curriculum in general public high schools and an international high school, we developed media based tasks and activities to foster creativity and communicative competence in English classes, using the animation "Shrek 4", and various Korean and overseas advertisements. "Shrek 4" stimulates critical thinking, imagination, and creativity with parodies, satire, and humor as well as interesting visuals and an authentic use of English. Advertisements are authentic real-life materials that are full of creative ideas, interesting stories, colorful visual aids, and short and witty catch-lines with symbols and figurations. They include television commercials, paper advertisements, and campaign advertisements. All classroom activities were tabulated according to elements of creativity (fluency, flexibility, elaboration, or originality), language skills (listening, speaking, writing, or reading), and types of work (individual, pair, or group work). In conclusion, this study strove to achieve an effective synergy in promoting creativity in both language and thoughts in English for high school students. Further studies should be conducted to verify the actual applicability of this qualitative analysis and generalize its applicability to a variety of contexts. Teachers should continue to create proper class environments to develop their students' creativity and communicative competence in general high schools.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Service Flexibility on Customer Contact Center Employee Satisfaction and Performance

This study examines customer center counselors engaged in emotional labor. Customer center counselors experience emotional difficulty due to the nature of their work, which is to mainly handle customer complaints and urgent requests via the phone. Previous studies on such emotional labor found that customer contact center employees with a high degree of emotional intelligence can interact with customers flexibly and overcome stress even if they experience negative emotions while delivering customer service. Additionally, they control their emotions on their own as they become inwardly motivated through self-determination and service flexibility, thereby increasing their levels of satisfaction and enhancing job performance. Moreover, higher employee satisfaction is associated with higher job performance. This study aims to provide basic data useful for corporate managers of customer contact centers by examining emotional intelligence-regulation of emotion and self-determination-service flexibility as positive factors leading to enhance employee satisfaction and service performance among customer center counselors in accordance with the aforementioned results of previous studies. The main Results of the study are as follows. Emotional intelligence-regulation of emotion and Self-determination-service flexibility were found to have a positive effect on job satisfaction among customer center counselors and the job satisfaction of counselors was found to have a positive effect on service performance.
