Statistics and literatures were reviewed to obaitn basic information on the soild waste management during the period from 1964 to 1973 in Seoul metropolitan areas, main data reviewed are frpm statistical year books of Economic Planning Borad, Ministry of Health and Social Affarirs, and Seoul Metropplitan Government, and a few papers of survey. The major findings of theis study are summerized as follows; 1. The rate under collecting area's population was 87.3% in 1973 with the highest rate of 102.8% in Jongro-gu, and the lowest rate of 61.5% in Dobong-gu 2. Collecting rate by weight was 90.8% with the highest rate of 101.5% in dobong-gu and the lowest of 78.5% in Jongro-gu in 1973. 3. In the year of 1973 the weight of wastes of produced was 2,770,000 tons, and that of a day production was 7,591 tons. One person a day produced 1.38kg in Nowember and the lowest 1.29kg in June. 4. One labor collected average 1.46 tons a day, one truck 20.49 tons and one handcarts, 3.72 tons in 1973. 5. Wastes consisted of Yun-Tan ash (anthracite coal ash) in the range of 77.6% to 86.0% and papers, glass bottles and synthetic matters are less than one percent respactively. 6. All the waste are disposed by the land filling. 7. during the 10 years period the weight of wastes per person per day increased from 0.91kg in 1964 to 1.38kg in Seoul.

This study was from March 1st. of 1989 to June 30, 1990. The subjects of study consist of sportmen who are in attendance at high school or university and all samples are selected at random. The total number of subjects counts to 125 (Gymnastic: 13, Volleyball: 82) and the researcher measures and analyses the subjects' physique, physician strength, the test of dominance eye, the lateral dominance tests of hand, foot, body and eye. The results are as follows: 1. Physical growth and development Mean values of physique showed in Table 2. 2. Physical fitness Mean values of grip strength for male are 40.6 ± 3.3 for right side and 42.1 ± 5.1 for left side in sportmen of high school and 31.9 ± 3.6 for right side and 33.9 ± 4.1 for left side in female. Mean values of grip strength for male are 42.0 ± 4.8 for right side and 45.6 ± 4.3 for left side in sportmen of university and 32.9 ± 3.4 and 35.0 ± 4.6 for female. Mean values of arm strength for male are 28.0 ± 3.1 for right and 30.9 ± 2.5 for left in sportmen of high school and 20.5 ± 2.8 and 21.5 ± 2.6 for female. Mean values of arm strength for male are 30.9 ± 3.4 for right and 32.5 ± 2.4 for left in sportmen of university and 21.9 ± 3.6 and 22.9 ± 3.3 for female. Mean values of leg strength for male 35.4 ± 3.5 for right and 40.2 ± 3.6 for left in sportmen of high school and 24.8 ± 2.0 and 27.5 ± 1.9 for female. In sportmen of university, they are 40.7 ± 5.1 for right and 46.7 for left in male and 27.1 ± 2.8 and 30.3 ± 3.4 for female respectively. 3. Lateral dominance rate of hand, foot trunk and eye As considered according to its function, the rates of right foot, left foot, both of feet in sportmen, total rates are each of 59.0 %, 32,5 %, 3.9 % for male and 64;7 %, 29.1 %, 4.2 % for female. The rates of right side, left side both of sides in both of the sportmen in high school and university, the total rates are each of 52.6 %, 23.2 %, 9.5 % for male and 51.1 %, 27.3 %, 18.2 % for female. The rates of right hand, left hand, both of hands in both of the sportmen in high school unversity, the total rates are each of 52.6 %, 23.2 %, 9.5 % for male and 51.1 %, 27.3 %, 18.2 % for female. The rates of right hand left hand, both of hands in both of the sportmen in high school and university, the total rates are each of 84.9 %, 11.4 % 1.6 % for male and 83.9 %, 13.4 %, 2.1 % for female, respectively. 4. Tests of dominance eye As considered according to tests of dominance eye, the results of right eye and left in both of sportmen in high school and university, results are each of 62.9 %, 37.1 % for male and 58.7 % and 41.3 % for female, and 60.8 % and 39.2 % for both sexes.
상엽 추출물을 이용한 항당뇨 음료의 개발(Ⅰ) : 상엽 추출물의 제제화 탐색 Screening of the Manufacturing of Mulberry Leaf Extract

Mulberry leaves arc believed to be a potent inhibitor of intestinal α-glycosidase and the digestion of sucrose in the small intestine. Mulberry leaves are also known to help prevent the postprandial hyperglycemia. The objective of this study was to elucidate the functionality and anti-hyperglycemic effect of mulberry leaves, and to develop a functional drink using mulberry leaf, silk peptide and oriental medicine. Several mixtures of mulberry leaf extract, silk peptide and oriental medicine were made for the purpose of manufacture and formulation of products. These mixtures were tested to check the α-glycosidase inhibition effect to find the best formula. The optimum conditions for a mulberry leaf hot water extract were that the size of leaf was under 3㎜, the amount of leaf needed 50~100 g/L, extraction temperature 90℃ and extraction time 2 hr. The yield of extraction was 20~25%. The anti-hyperglycemic effect of mulberry leaves was at maximum when the concentrations of mulberry leaf extract and silk peptide were 1% and 0.1% respectively.
