In this study turbine flowmeters were used to predict volumetric flow rate of each phase in two-phase, gas-liquid, flowing in a vertical tube. To determine volumetric flow rates of two-phase, air-water, flowing vertically upward through the polycarbonate tube(57㎜ ID-inside diameter), two turbine flow meters were used. For void fraction measurements, two gamma densitometers were used at each location of the turbine flow meter, one at the upstream and the other at the downstream. It was determined that the turbine flowmeter's outputs were a function of actual volumetric flow rate of each of the two phases. A two-phase flow model was developed.

An air-water mixture in downflow was passed through two turbine flow meters in series with an intervening valve to provide an adjustable pressure difference between them. The output signals were found to depend only on the actual volumetric flow rate of the gas, Qg, and liquid. Ql, at the flow meter location. Void fractions were measured by two gamma densitometers, one upstream of the flow meters and the other downstream. Below a critical water flow rate, the void fractions exhibited nearly discontinuous increases with increasing gas flow, as well as hysteresis loops, yet the turbine flow meter showed no unusual behavior. Consequently, the models of Popper (961) and Aya (1975), which depend on void fraction, yielded very poor predictions for downflow. A modification of Popper equation, based on the nominal volume fraction, Qg/(Qg+Ql), showed that volume fraction has closer functional relation than with void fraction.
KC-1 Membrane LNG 탱크 단열시스템의 열해석에 관한 연구

Recently, a new type of LNG membrane Tank called the “KC-1 membrane LNG Tank” was developed by KOGAS (Korean Gas Corporation). It is necessary to estimate the temperature distribution of the hull structure and insulation system for this new LNG tank, as well as the BOR (Boil-Off Rate) when exposed to outside temperature conditions to ensure the integrity of the tank structure and limit LNG evaporation, from a safety evaluation point of view. In this study, temperature distribution calculations for the hull structure and insulation system of the KC1 membrane tank were compared by employing four numerical approaches under the IGC condition. Approaches 1–3 studied 2D simulations and approach 4 used a 3D numerical simulation. Approach 1 was calculated by in-house Excel VBA codes and the three other approaches utilized ANSYS Fluent. The BOR of approach 4, the 3D simulation case, for the IGC condition was 0.0986%/day.
균일 가열 수직 원형관에서의 R-12 임계열유속 예측 상관식 개발을 위한 파라미터의 경향성 분석

The important parameters that have significant effects on the prediction of CHF (Critical Heat Flux) for R-12 (Dichlorodifluoromethane) were investigated. This was a preliminary study for a R-12 CHF correlation in uniformly heated vertical round tubes. Experimental data of Celata [1], Green and Stevens [2], Groenveld [3], Ilic [4], Katto [5], Merilo and Ahmad [6] and Stevens and Miles [7] were used for this analysis. Four representative CHF data sets at pressure condition of 9, 15, 19, and 27 bar were selected, analyzed, and compared to evaluate the effects other than the system pressure on the CHF were tube diameter (D), mass flux of water (G), and local true mass fraction of vapor (X_(t)). The results of this study have reaffirmed the feasibility that an advanced R-12 CHF correlation for uniformly heated vertical round tubes can be found.
국부가설을 적용한 불균일 가열 수직 원형관에서의 임계열유속 예측

임계열유속 현상이 국부조건변수로 정확히 예측될 수 있다는 가설에 따라 증기 생성률 방정식을 이용해 실제증기건도를 관의 길이에 따라 계산하였으며, 그에 따라 관의 길이에 따른 국부 임계열유속 크기를 계산할 수 있었다. 관에 적용된 열유속분포의 형태와 국부 임계열유속 크기를 감안하여 두 곡선이 전하는 부분을 계산함으로써 임계열유속예측상관식을 개발하였다. 임계열유속 data는 6종, 총 305개를 사용하였으며, 예측 결과는 평균오차 1%, RMS 오차 17%로 분석되었다.

In subcooled convective boiling heat transfer the estimation of true steam quality is an important process design variable. In this study a model is used to obtain the true steam quality from the thermodynamic equilibrium quality and the quality at the onset of significant vaporization. The quality at the onset of significant vaporization is obtained from the Saha-Zuber correlation.
고압, 높은 유속 조건에서의 균일 가열 수직 원형관의 임계열유속 예측 상관식

새로운 상관식은 물을 유체로 사용하는 균일 가열 수직 원형관에서의 고압, 높은 유속조건 임계열유속을 예측하기 위해 개발되었다. 이 상관식은 기 발표한 임계열유속 데이터베이스(DKU-PDL)를 사용하여 개발되었다. 상관식 개발에 사용된 데이터의 범위는 다음과 같다. 관 내경(D) : 1.95 ~ 44.6㎜, 관 길이(L) : 0.03~4.96M, 압력(P) : 70 ~206bar, 질량유속(G) : 28.07 ~ 10565.03 kg/㎡s, 임계열유속값(CHF) : 0.135 ~ 9.937MW/㎡, 출구 건도(Xe) : -0.88 ~ 1.22. 상관식 개발에 사용된 데이터는 열평형 방법을 사용하여 데이터의 신뢰도를 검증하여 사용하였다

There were many studies on critical heat flux(CHF) during last several decades, In recent years CHF correlations have been supported by local and non-local hypothesis. In this study we have found that CHF can be predicted by local variables only; namely, CHF is independent of heated length.

In making coke through carbonization process, it is possible to produce the required high quality coke in blast furnace and reduce the cost of energy as well as increase the life of coke oven if we maintain the desired coke oven temperature by means of optimal combustion management (CM). In this study, hybrid combustion diagnostic expert system (HCDES) was developed through analyzing the trend and temperature distribution of flues in the oven and combining the domain expert's knowledge. The model also considered and incorporated the characteristics and the structure of the oven. In developing the diagnostic system, a general and accessible expert language, CLIPS (C Language Integrated Production System) was used.

Because of strong demand of compacted consumer electronics and rapid improvements in the miniaturization of electronic devices, compact or high density multi-layered PCBs (Printed Circuit Board) production facility with high productivity is being actively sought out. In the cooling process of lamination, it is very important to diminish the temperature deviation within the epoxy resin with respect to the position of press. In this study, we measured the temperature distribution of cooling process for CCL (Copper Clad Laminate) manufacturing. As the result, temperature change in the first plate was bigger than the one in the sixth plate. Much higher efficiency of cooling was observed when copper separator was used compared to the cooling at the natural convection state. In addition, when cooled by the copper plate, the temperature deviation between plates in CCL went up to maximum of 9 degrees.
