As this study is to test effects of sulfate attack on deterioration of concrete using in crushed aggregates. Besides tests have been carried out with concrete by river sand and crushed sand by fine sand, concrete mixes various proportions of slica fume and fly ash(up to 15% by weight for cement) were prepared and immersed in pure water, sodium sulfate solution for 28 and 60days. Test on the change in the weight and compressive strength of concrete according to the duration of immersion time and the content of slica fume and fly ash was performed.

In process of reinforced concrete(RC) box structure, the heat of hydration may cause serious thermal cracking problems. In order to eliminate hydration heat of mass concrete, this - paper reports results of hydration heat control in mass concrete using the OCHP(Oscillating Capillary tube Heat Pipe). Recently OCHP is drawn special attention from these points of low cost as well as short construction schedule for the manufacturing of heat exchanger, flexibility, simplification and high performance. There were three RC box molds(1.2×l.2×l.2m) which shows a difference as compared with each other. One was not equipped with OCHP. While others were equipped with OCHP and these were cooled with air natural convection and spraying water respectively. The OCHP was composed of copper pipe with 12 turns(O.D : 4mm, I.D : 2.8mm). The working fluid was R-22 and its charging ratio was 30(Vo1. %). In order to analyze the distribution of temperature and index figure of thermal crack in sequential placement of mass concrete, we used HYCON of computer program. As a result of the experiment, the peak temperature decreased about 15.6 ~ 23.4 ℃ than the general specimen and the probability of thermal crack generated in mass concrete decreased up to 0%.

Recently, concrete using multicomponent blended cement has been required to increase the freeze-thaw and sulfate resistances if concrete structures exposed to a marine environment. Thus, the purpose of this study was to propose the use of concrete containing multicomponent blended cement as one of the alternatives for concrete structures exposed to a marine environment. For this purpose, batches of concrete containing ordinary portland cement (OPC), binary blended cement (OPC-G, G: ground granulated blast slag), ternary blended cement (OPC-GF, F: fly ash), and quaternary blended cement (OPC-GFM, M: mata-kaolin) were made using a water-binder ratio of 50%. Then, the durability levels, including thesulfate and freeze-thaw resistances, were estimated for concrete samples containing OPC, OPC-G, OPC-GF, and OPC-GFM. It was observed from the tests that the durability levels of the concrete samples containing OPC-G and OPC-GF were found to be much better than that if the concrete containing OPC. The optimum mixing proportions were a40%replacement ratio of ground granulated blast slag for the binary blended cement and a30% replacement ratio of ground granulated blast slag and 10% fly ash for the ternary blended cement.
