CWR technology is generally believed to contribute to the increase of train speed and bring a variety of significant advantages, such as the decrease in track works, noise and vibration as well as the improvement of passenger comfort. In CWR technology, welding is considered to be one of the most important element technologies. Among the various welding methods, thermit welding is the most frequently used one for site welding since the operation is simple and the instruments are light as well as easy to deal with. However, it could cause interference with safety operation of trains since thermit welding points, are essentially made of castings and there are potentialities of defects according to the operation conditions, the environment of the site as well as the dexterity of the worker. This study tries to describe the characteristics of thermit welding, defect-causing factors and defect-detecting methods at welding points.

Currently, the Korean railway standards (KRS), managed by Korea National Railroad, have been managed by the Korean Ministry of Construction and Transportation. According to Korean railway safety law, which were established for the guarantee of railway safety, the management of KRS including enactment and revision of technical standards for railway vehicle and components, was committed to Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI). In this paper, the detailed master plan for the management of KRS will be introduced for the effective management of KRS, and KRS management direction for the future will be suggested.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematic factors of the golf driver swing affecting the nether limbs region. For this purpose, joint angle were calculated. In order to determine the load on the nether limbs region, a triple segmental system was set for ankle, knee, and hip joint angle working on the nether limbs region were estimated. For this study, a total of 4 profession at golfers were sampled, and then, their driver swings were recorded with 4 high-speed digital video cameras (180 frames/sec.) to be synthesized into 3-dimensional images and coordinated. All data were calculated using Lab VIEW 7.0 graphic program. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; It was found that the joint movement was generated on ankle, knee, and hip joints in the direction of the target, and that the joint movement was changed rapidly in the direction of target immediately before impact. The joint movement was generated towards the target to activate the nodes, and then, it was generated in the reverse direction to increase the speed during impact. Especially, in the case of left nether limb, the strongest fixed segment was generated to maximize the momentum. The load to left nether limb can be estimated from the joint force which was operated over the weight. Also, the load to out range of joint can be estimated with any injury before and after the impact by anatomical shape of knee.

In order to evaluate the effect of impact load at support stiffness transition area, the field estimations are performed at the transition zone between earthwork and bridge on test operation of KTX. Due to differential settlement caused by the variations of track support stiffness, large impact forces are investigated. However, the measured values such as wheel load, rail stress, displacement and acceleration in the transition area shows that the stiffness changes in the transition area are not abrupt, and the stiffness in the infra track structure varies continuously. In this experimental study. the parameters influencing safety of transition area are not governed by partial or local stiffness because cumulative passing loads are not sufficient on test operation of KTX.

Among the various welding methods, gas pressure welding is the most frequently used in vicinity of train line station since the operation is simple and the instruments are not heavy. The gas pressure welding is constructed exactly by good manual book on which simple and excellent welding methods is written and has the same performance as raw material. But this can be poor in the variety of the processing of rail end surface to be welded, the control of oxyacetylene flame and axil compressive force. This study tries to describe the characteristics of gas pressure welding, defect-causing factors and preventive counterplan of defects.

The railway bridges on the new high-speed line are the first structures designed and constructed by our local engineers for high-speed running. In securing running stability and riding comfort in high-speed running, it is very important to verify the performance of structures and local specifications and design criteria by measuring and analyzing the dynamic behavior of main structural members. In this study, 4 different types(simple-span, 2, 3, 4-continuous spans) of PCS Box bridges on the test line(Yongwa~Simok section) were selected, each representing a different type of superstructures, in order to verify the performance of the bridges by measuring dynamic responses during the test-run of KTX. Reviews of the running stability and the riding comfort were carried out with the results of the measurement and the analyses of vibration acceleration, endrotation, distortion and deflection at midspan.

In this study, we investigate the mechanical properties of rail pad material according to pad types. Especially, to study the application and endurance of TEEE material, we conducted experiments such as tension strength test, hardness test, fatigue test and wear test. Test results showed that TEEE material was better application and endurance than other pad material, but there was difficulties for comparing with others because the variations of application according to pad" types were variable.

The concrete track was applied for Gyungbu 2nd phase high_speed railroad line as a basic track structure. Two track structures ballasted track and non_ballasted concrete track have a different train load transfer mechanisms. However it's rare to see about research results related with it. So to understand dynamic response characteristics of the concrete track and roadbed we measured accelerations of carbody and bogie vertical and lateral load stress and displacement of rail and earth pressures of subgrade at OOOk930 station of Gyungbu high_speed line during speed up tests before opening it. Based on these measured results we could evaluate the level of dynamic responses of the track quantitatively.
