        Enhanced Neurite Outgrowth of Dorsal Root Ganglion Sensory Neurons after Sibjeondaebo-tang Treatment

        Sibjeondaebo-tang (SJDBT) is an oriental medicinal prescription for the treatments of diverse symptoms including neurological disorders. In order to investigate its potential role for neural regulation following nerve injury, neurite outgrowth of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons in culture was investigated. In DRG neurons which were preconditioned by sciatic nerve injury, neurite outgrowth was enhanced by SJDBT treatment. When preconditioned DRG neurons were co-cultured with astrocytes prepared from injured spinal cord tissue, neurite outgrowth was similarly facilitated by SJDBT. Astrocytes in co-culture showed more intense signals of vimentin protein by SJDBT compared to saline control. Sukjihwang (SJH), a conventional herbal component of SJDBT prescription, did not induce any significant changes in neurite extension of DRG neurons compared to control cells. These data suggest that SJDBT may be the therapeutic agent for nervous system disorders related to nerve damage.

      • Cyclosporin A 반복투여에 의한 랫드 간장의 조직학적 변화

        This study was carried out to investigate the histological changes of rat liver by repeated treatment of cyclosporin A that has been widely used for treating some autoimmune diseases and immunosuppressive drug in organ transplantation. 70 Sprague-Dawley rats were kept in experimental circumstances for 2 weeks and 50mg/kg B.W of cyclosporin A was injected once a day subcutaneously for 7 days and sacrificed at 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 28 days after the last injection. Histological changes were observed by H & E, Oil red O, and Masson trichrome stains and the results obtained were as follows. 1. 26 percent of animals has died during the treatment of cyclosporin A, and the animals survived were observed to be dull and inactivated. 2. The mild cytoplasmic changes of hepatocytes in portal area were observed by H & E stain in 1 hour lapse group and this finding was recovered with time lapse. 3. The lipid accumulation in periportal areas was observed in 1 hour and 1 day lapse groups and this finding was recovered with time lapse. 4. Although the cytoplasmic changes and lipid accumulation were started in the portal area and moved to intermediated and central areas, the changes in the intermediate and central areas were not as severe as that of portal area. 5. No specific increase of connective tissue was observed in all groups. 6. Histological changes of rat liver induced by cyclosporin A were recovered with time lapse, and the entire recovery was observed in 28 days lapse group after the last injection.

      • 온실의 구조적 장애물이 무선통신 성능에 끼치는 특성 규명

        The use of environmental measurement sensors and wireless communication for automatic control in agriculture was increased. The poor reliability of wireless communication were a disadvantage when the system controled in a couple of greenhouses or installed complex structures in a greenhouse. In this study, the effect of structural obstacle in the greenhouse was analyzed on wireless communication. The measurement of wireless communication was calculated by the types of material on obstacle. Because environmental factors such as crops and soil may affect wireless communication in the greenhouse, measurements were conducted in a thermo- hygrostat with constant temperature and humidity. The materials of the obstacle such as vinyl, plywood, acrylic plate, paper box, and heat insulation were performed with different layers (from 1 to 7 layers). The data communication rates between transmission and receiver unit were 100% for ZigBee system in case of 3 vinyls, 2 acrylics and 2 paper boxes. When the number of materials (i.e. vinyl, arcylic, and paper box) was increased, the data communication rates were reduced. However, the data communication rates were partly reduced at more than one of materials in case of plywood and insulation. As the number of layers were increased, the number of loss data were increased and the transmission rate were decreased.

      • Image Processing for the Automated Detection of Cracks in Soybean

        This study was conducted to develop an image processing algorithm for automatic detection�ᅠ�ᅠ of soybean cracks to be used in the threshing and separation system that could recognize physically damaged soybeans. Spatial domain image processing was used to recognize damaged soybeans. The performance of the image processing algorithm was evaluated by comparing the discrimination rates of cracked soybeans. The soybean crack inspection ratio using image analysis had an error ranging from 0.014% to 0.293%. Therefore, it can be suggested that this method of spatial domain image processing would be an effective tool for detecting the cracks in soybean seeds.

      • 과수원용 고소작업차의 안정성 분석

        This study was analyzed the vehicle running stability of orchard aerial lift to enable for safety�ᅠ�ᅠ driving in the orchard and built the system that is possible to use the convenient equipment of alternative management tasks that depend on manpower. In order to measure the rollover angle according to height of working table and live load, performed the 3D-modeling using design tool and simulated using dynamic analysis tool. Based on the result of simulations, set the driving stability area of orchard aerial lift. For the validation of stability analysis and simulation result of orchard aerial lift, performed the center of gravity measure test. The result was (x,y,z)=. The safety working area that was compared rollover test and simulation test, in the case that minimum height of working table, there had no error between simulation and rollover test result. But, in the case that medium and maximum height of working table, there had error. In climbing case, hill-climbing ability results had slip ratio more than 10% because hill climbing resistance and reduced traction by ground tilt angle. In downhill case had slip ratio below 10% by driving force for hill climbing resistance. Working table in convenient equipment system was possible to lift the maximum 3,090 mm, the minimum 640 mm when �ᅠ �ᅠ based on the ground and was able to expand 300 mm to the left and right.

      • 시설 하우스용 직각 조향 무인 주행차량 개발

        This research was carried out to develop a traveling vehicle to do variable works for greenhouse. Because of the narrow spaces in the greenhouse, the vehicle could not turn directions by conventional ways. By developing a perpendicular turning system the vehicle could travel more effectively and accurately. Linear actuators lifts up the vehicle to move sidle ways and the bevel gear is to change the motor direction for saving energy and for lightening the total weight. Perpendicular turning system vehicle could travel around in narrow greenhouses. The vehicle uses ultrasonic sensors to find positions and a MCU(Micro control unit) to perform automation movements. The R2 results for the experiments between the ultrasonic sensor values and distance is over 0.95 which means the system is reliable. This vehicle could travel through narrow areas to perform variable works instead of the human workers.

      • Dynamic Simulation of the Self-propelled Subsoiler for the Determination of Vehicle Stability and Safety

        The objective of this study was to analyze the stability and safety of an explosive subsoiler�ᅠ�ᅠ vehicle for use in Korean orchards using a multi-body dynamic analysis program RecurDyn 6.4™. Various physical properties of the vehicle, including mass, center of mass, and moment of inertia, were determined based on three dimensional (3D) geometric data obtained using the CAD program SolidWorks 2008™. Using the recursive dynamic solver, the crossway and sideway overturning motions of the vehicle were simulated. The Jamosi-Hanamoto model was applied to derive contact equations between soil and traction. A study comparing the static and dynamic responses revealed that the 3D model was effective in determining various properties of the vehicle. The maximum angles for stability were estimated to be 38 degrees and 37 degrees in the forward and side directions, respectively. The range of the safety limits varied with different levels of soil property variables, such as terrain stiffness, cohesion, and the angle of shear resistance. The simulation results showed that sandy loam soil provided safer conditions for the vehicle than did dry sandy soil.

      • A Morphological Study on the Regeneration of Peripheral Nerves: Immunocytochemical Localization of N-Cadherin

        손상된 신경의 재생에 대한 N-Cadherin 분자의 관련성을 알아보기 위해 손상시킨 흰쥐 좌골신경의 재생과정에서 N-Cadherin의 분포를 면역세포화학법으로 추구하였다. 신경의 손상은 대퇴의 중간부위에서 1-0 봉합사로 신경을 결찰하여 유발시켰고, 24시간후 결찰을 제거한 후 각 군의 동물들을 N-Cadherin 항혈청을 사용하여 면역염색을 시행하였다. 정상 좌골신경에서는 신경초세포와 접하는 가상부위인 축삭막에서 약한 N-Cadherin 면역반응을 나타내었다. 재생중인 좌골신경에서는 결찰을 제거한 추 12시간군에서부터 축삭막에서 강한 면역반응을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과로부터 N-Cadherin은 신경섬유의 재생과정에서 축삭사이 및 축삭과 신경초세포의 부착에 어떤 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 생각된다. We have studied the localization of N-Cadherin the regenerating nerve fibers by immunocyto-chemistry in the crushed rat sciatic nerve in order to know if the N-Cadherin is involved in the process of axonal regrowth from injury. Nerve crush was performed at the mid-thigh level by ligating with 1-0 silk threod. After 24 hours, the ligatures were removed from nerves and the animals were immunostained with N-Cadherin antiserum. The normal sciatic nerve fibers exhibited slight N-Cadherin immunoreactivity on the presumable axolemmal region where they were in contact with plasmalemma of Schwann cell. In regenerating nerves, intense immunoreactivity was demonstrated on the plasma membranes of axons after 12 hours from removing the ligature. These findings suggest that N-Cadherin may be involved in some important roles of the axon-axon and axon-Schwann cell adhesion in the regenerating nerve fibers.
