A Recognition Time Reduction Algorithm for Large-Vocabulary Speech Recognition

본 논문에서는 대용량 음성인식 시스템의 인식시간을 감축하기 위하여 후보단어를 선정하는 효과적인 방법을 제안하고 이 방법의 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 spectral smoothing과 temporal smoothing을 사용하는 것에 관하여 연구하였다. 제안된 방법은 사전내의 각 단어에 대하여 음성인식 단위의 음성 spectrum관찰확률과 길이정보를 이용하여 대강의 관찰확률을 계산하여 후보단어를 선정한다. 제안된 방법을 음소단위의 HMM을 이용하는 1160단어 인식 시스템에 적용한 결과, 전체 계산량의 74% 가량을 감축할 수 있었으며 이때 인식율의 감소는 매우 작았다. 또한 제안된 대감의 likelihood점수 계산방법은 Viterbi방법에 의하여 계산되는 likelihood 점수를 잘 추정함을 알 수 있었다. We propose an efficient pre-classification algorithm extracting candidate words to reduce the recognition time in a large-vocabulary recognition system and also propose the use of spectral and temporal smoothing of the observation probability to improve its classification performance. The proposed algorithm computes the coarse likelihood score for each word in a lexicon using the observation probabilities of speech spectra and duration information of recognition units. With the proposed approach we could reduce the computational amount by 74% with slight degradation of recognition accuracy in 1160-word recognition system based on the phoneme-level HMM. Also, we observed that the proposed coarse likelihood score computation algorithm is a good estimator of the likelihood score computed by the Viterbi algorithm.

In Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access(DS/CDMA) communication systems, it is important to contraol the power of reverse link channel evenly for overall channel capacity. To control the reverse link powers efficiently, it is necessary to estimate signal quality of each reverse link channel. In this paper, we discuss a method to estimate the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) for each channel by measuring the powers of pilot and noises. Computer simulations are done to show the effectiveness of the scheme.

Three genera Megacraspedus Zeller, 1839, Aulidiotis Meyrick, 1925, and Cuprina Sinev, 1988 and four species of the superfamily Gelechioidea are reported for the first time from the Korean Peninsula. They are Megacraspedus coleophorodes (Li and Zheng, 1995) and Aulidiotis phoxopterella (Snellen, 1903) of Gelechiidae; Martyringa ussuriella Lvovsky, 1979 of Oecophoridae; and Cuprina fuscella Sinev, 1988 of Stathmopodidae. Images of adults and genitalia of the species are given.
Six Unrecorded Species of Micro-moths (Lepidoptera) from Korea

From a result of surveys on the biodiversity monitoring for moths in Korea, six species of micro-moths that were never known from Korea are reported here for the first time from this country. They are: Udea pseudocrocealis (South, 1901) of the family Crambidae, which has been known as endemic to Japan; Epinotia albiguttata (Oku, 1974) of the family Tortricidae, which was known belonging to Hikagehamakia Oku, 1974; and four species of the family Gelechiidae: Protoparachronistis concolor Omelko, 1986 and P. discedens Omelko, 1986, which were described from Primorisk, Russian Far East; Thiotricha pancratiastis Meyrick, 1921, which is known from Isl. Jejudo, and Thiotricha sp. which is being described in a separate paper. Here we provide images of adults and genitalia for the unrecorded species with a brief diagnosis.
