        신진연구자의 연구 성과 및 연구 네트워크 규모에서 포닥 경험의 역할: 이공계 박사학위 취득자를 대상으로

        연구자의 성장경로에 있어서 박사학위를 취득한 이후 시점은 변곡점이 형성되는 전환기로 경험에 커다란 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 교수의 지도를 받는 학생의 입장에서 벗어나 독립된 연구자로 발전하는 중요한 시기이다. 또한 신진연구자 시기는 개인 연구역량의 축적과 더불어 독립적인 연구자로서 대외적인 명성과 네트워크를 형성하기 시작하는 시기이다. 본 연구에서는 박사학위 취득 후 안정적인 연구자로서 자리 잡기 전까지의 경험에 주목하였다. 이 기간 동안 포닥 연구원의 경험이 지식이전 활동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 탐색하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 대학 신진연구자를 중심으로 논문 성과와 공저자 관계로 나타나는 지식이전 활동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하는 것이다. 박사취득 후 대학의 전임교원으로 임용되기 전까지 경험이 연구자의 논문 성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 2008년도 신진연구자지원사업을 수행한 대학 연구자를 대상으로 국가과학기술정보시스템에서 제공하는 연구자 정보를 활용하여 학력 및 경험사항, 연구 성과 등에 대한 정보를 수집하고 STATA를 활용하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 포닥 기간의 경험 중 기관의 다양성이 논문 성과와 연구 네트워킹 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 포닥 경험의 상호작용 측면에서 포닥 경험 기간이 길고 국외 포닥 경험이 있는 경우 연구 네트워킹 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고, 포닥 경험 기간 중 경험한 기관이 많고 국외 포닥 경험이 있는 경우 논문 성과와 연구 네트워킹 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 포닥 기간의 경험이 연구성과에 영향을 미치는 요인 중 하나의 변수로 고려할 수 있고 포닥 연구원 지원제도와 관련된 정부 정책을 수립하는데 큰 시사점을 제시할 것으로 판단된다. The period after the PhD has a huge impact on the careers of researcher from a researcher lifecycle perspective. This is a turning point which student receives guidance from professor and become an independent researcher. Furthermore, they learn to develop ideas for independent research, apply for grants and manage a project; they also form expert networks in related filed and publish papers to share their findings. This study focuses on the period between earning doctoral degree and being employed as a stable position in university. This study starts from a research questions that asks which factors of postdoctoral experience affect research output. In this study, the paper performance, especially co-authorship of paper, of postdoctoral researchers was investigated. The cumulative advantage theory and Matthew effect were employed to shed a light on this research question. The empirical work is based on the Survey & Analysis of National R&D program in Korea conducted by Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP). The correlations between the research output and characteristics of postdoctoral experience were verified. These results are expected to contribute as new empirical evidences on investigating knowledge transfer activities of new PhDs.

        생물정보학 기반의 데이터 융합 교육을 위한 프로그램 개발 및 효과

        The purpose of this study is to develop an educational program based on the 2P3DS model for bioinformatics-based data convergence education and analyze its effectiveness. The 2P3DS model consists of ‘preparation (P)’, ‘problem definition (P)’, ‘data-based ideation and design (D)’, ‘data collection (D)’, ‘data analysis (D)’, ‘sharing’ and It consisted of a process of ‘feedback (S)’. This program was developed over 8 sessions and was conducted for 44 high school students with a strong interest in life sciences. As a result of the study, students improved both ‘career maturity’ and ‘data scientifice attitude’, as well as self-understanding, career planning, and affective and behavioral areas. Therefore, this study revealed that the developed program helps students choose a career in the field of bioinformatics and increases their interest in data science.

        장애 학생을 위한 스캐폴딩 기반 휴머노이드 로봇 교육 프로그램의 개발 및 적용

        Digital literacy, which can understand and utilize the principles of software and artificial intelligence (SW AI), is one of the necessary skills for all members of society. Research on SW/AI education targeting general students to increase digital literacy is being actively conducted, but education and research for students with disabilities are insufficient. Therefore, in this study, a humanoid robot education program based on cognitive and emotional scaffolding was designed and applied to expand educational opportunities for students with disabilities according to the ADDIE model, and the educational outcomes were analyzed. To this end, data were collected through satisfaction surveys of students who participated in the humanoid robot education program, parent interviews, and observation diaries written after class observation. The educational outcomes were analyzed in five aspects of stability. This study is meaningful in that it provided an empirical example of humanoid robot education for students with disabilities, and it is expected that it will be able to provide a guide for the content composition and education method of robot education in the field of special education.

        Metformin displays in vitro and in vivo antitumor effect against osteosarcoma

        Purpose: Patients with unresectable, relapsed, or refractory osteosarcoma need a novel therapeutic agent. Metformin is a biguanide derivative used in the treatment of type II diabetes, and is recently gaining attention in cancer research. Methods: We evaluated the effect of metformin against human osteosarcoma. Four osteosarcoma cell lines (KHOS/NP, HOS, MG-63, U-2 OS) were treated with metformin and cell proliferation was evaluated using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. Cell cycle progression and apoptosis were evaluated using flow cytometric analysis, and migration and wound healing assay were performed. Fourteen female Balb/c-nude mice received KHOS/NP cell grafts in their thigh, and were allowed access to metformin containing water (2 mg/mL) ad libitum. Tumor volume was measured every 3–4 days for a period of 4 weeks. Results: Metformin had a significant antiproliferative effect on human osteosarcoma cells. In particular, metformin inhibited the proliferation and migration of KHOS/NP cells by activation of AMP-activated protein kinase and consequent inhibition of the mammalian target of rapamycin pathway. It also inhibited the proliferation of cisplatin-resistant KHOS/NP clone cells. Analysis of KHOS/NP xenograft Balb/c-nude models indicated that metformin displayed potent in vivo antitumor effects. Conclusion: Further studies are necessary to explore metformin’s therapeutic potential and the possibilities for its use as an adjuvant agent for osteosarcoma.

        Effects of Low- or Moderate-dose Whole Body-X-ray Radiation on the Immune System of C57BL/6 Mice

        Background: Increase in the use of diagnostic imaging or occupational exposure to radiation have brought upon concerns on the safety and biological effects of low- or moderate-dose radiation. However, limited information is available on the effects of low or moderate dose radiation on human health.. Methods: Using C57BL/6 mice, we aimed to evaluate the biological effects of low- and moderate-dose radiation on the immune system. X-rays was chosen as a radiation source and we analyzed complete blood counts, various lymphocyte subsets and various cytokine levels after single fraction x-ray exposure (0.1 Gy, 1 Gy). Results: No significant changes in the immunologic parameter of C57BL/6 mice were observed after radiation, except LIX (a cytokine equivalent to human CXCL5), that showed higher level after 0.1 Gy radiation compared to the control. Conclusion: We observed that a single fraction of low or moderate dose of X-ray radiation does not cause significant changes in the immune system of C57BL/6 mice. Further studies are necessary to elucidate the mechanism underlying our results.
