Claude McKay(1890-1948) has often been thought of as an immediate forerunner and one of the key members of the Harlem Renaissance, so it is impossible to assess the Harlem Renaissance without considering his contribution and influence. Yet we should be careful not to put too much emphasis on the position and role of McKay as a Renaissance writer because such an approach is likely to overlook the complexity and multiplicity of his life and literary world. More than anything else, his life and literary works in Jamaica was closely related with the historical context at that time. In that context, McKay was a historical witness in his poems about Jamaican people including peasants, intellectuals, and emigrants. More than anyone else, he was willing to record, explain, analyse, and interpret the cruelty and bitterness of British colonialism in Songs of Jamaica. Therefore, I think it very important to reevaluate early McKay. So, if judging him based on poems collected in Songs of Jamaica, it is not far-overstretched to say that McKay was one of the writers who gave voice to a wide range of lower-class social types of Jamaican society and furthermore was able to resist, subvert, and modify the norms of Standard English through Jamaican dialect. Claude McKay(1890-1948) has often been thought of as an immediate forerunner and one of the key members of the Harlem Renaissance. Yet we should be careful not to put too much emphasis on the position and role of McKay as a Renaissance writer because such an approach is likely to overlook the complexity and multiplicity of his life and literary world. More than anything else, his life and literary works in Jamaica was closely related with the historical context at that time. If judging his short but significant career as a colonial constable based on poems collected in Constab Ballads, it was one of turning points in his life which gave him a chance to face realities of racial discrimination of Jamaican society in person and recognize how black people were divided and ruled by the British Colonialism. Such an experience and awakening was a stepping board on which he could grow his black consciousness and black solidarity. In that sense, Constab Ballads can be said a bridge between a Jamaican peasant poet and a black diaspora poet in Mckay’s literary career. (Chonbuk National University)

로버트 프로스트의 대표 시들 다시 읽기―이원론을 중심으로

Of all the major twentieth-century American poets, Robert Frost is “the most well known, the most public, and the least understood.” The main reason of such a phenomenon is that Frost valued above all else in his poetry what he called “the pleasure of ulteriority” which means “saying one thing and meaning another, saying one thing in terms of another.” In addition to it, his peculiar philosophical position called dualism dominates his writing and thinking. So his poems usually challenge readers with their uncertainty, ambiguity, and multiplicity. Therefore, it is very important to reread his best poems based on his dualism including his metaphorical poetics if we want to appreciate his poems correctly and put him in the right place in the American poetic history. 최근 임베디드 시스템 설계에서 저전력 소모와 SoC가 주된 관심사가 되면서, ARM 프로세서와 AMBA 버스가 각광을 받고 있다. AMBA 버스가 고속 모듈에 대해서는 장점을 지니지만, 저속 모듈과의 인터페이스에는 많은 제약이 따른다. 따라서 속도가 서로 다른 이종 모듈간에 속도 보상을 위한 bridge가 필요하다. 이러한 용도로 APB bridge가 표준으로 자리매김하고 있지만, 속도가 고정되어 있기 때문에 융통성이 배제된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해, 구조가 간단하고 구현이 쉬운 ISA 방식의 bridge를 제안하여, 많은 주변장치들을 손쉽게 AHB Slave로 인터페이스 할 수 있게 만든다.

머리 움직임과 눈 깜박임을 이용한 컴퓨터 마우스 개발을 위한 기초 연구

본 연구에서는 교통사고나 뇌졸중등에 의해 경추 이하의 마비나 손, 발 등의 움직임은 자유롭지는 않으나 머리를 움직일 수 있는 사람들을 대상으로 컴퓨터 사용에 도움을 주고자 머리 움직임과 눈의 깜박임을 이용하여 컴퓨터 마우스의 기능을 대신할 수 있는 장비의 개발을 목표로 한다. 머리 움직임을 감지하기 위하여 가속도계와 자이로 센서를 이용할 경우의 차이를 비교해 보았고, 클릭과 더블 클릭과 같은 마우스 이벤트를 감지하기 위해 광을 이용한 눈 깜박임으로 콜릭과 더블 클릭의 구현이 가능 한지에 대한 여부를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 머리의 움직임은 가속도계보다 자이로 센서의 출력을 적분하여 얻는 것이 우수하였고, 광을 이용한 눈 깜박임의 검출은 클릭과 더블클릭의 구별을 위한 추가적인 신호 처리를 통해 가능성을 확인하였다.

본 연구에서는 자동차 사고나 뇌졸중 등에 의해 경추 이하의 마비나 손, 발 등의 움직임은 자유롭지 않은 사람들의 컴퓨터 사용을 돕고자 손이나 발을 이용하지 않고 머리의 움직임과 눈의 깜박임만으로 컴퓨터 마우스 제어가 가능한 장치를 제안하였다. 마우스의 좌우, 상하 이동은 자이로센서를 이용하여 머리의 움직임으로 유발하고, 클릭과 더블 클릭은 광 센서를 시야를 방해하지 않는 위치에 장착하여 감지할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 장치의 클릭과 더블 클릭의 인식율은 사용자가 몇 번의 학습으로 높일 수 있었고, 반응속도는 기존 마우스의 이동 속도와 비교해 볼 때 큰 차이는 없었다. 마지막으로 종합적인 평가를 위해 마우스 이동과 클릭을 동시에 수행하였을 경우에는 정확도가 80~90% 정도로 기존 마우스보다는 낮았다.

We proposed the device to control a computer with only a head and eye blinks so that disabilities by car accidents can use a computer. Because they have paralysis of their upper extremities such as C4~C5 paraplegics and cerebral palsy, they cannot efficiently access a general keyboard/mouse not using hands and foots. The cursor position was estimated from a gyro-sensor which can measure head movements, and the mouse event such as click/double click from opto-sensors which can detect eye blinks. The sensor was put on the proper goggle in order not to disturb the visual field. The performance of the proposed device was compared to a general optical mouse, and was used both relative and absolute coordinate in cursor positioning control. The recognition rate of click and double-click was 86% of the optical mouse, the speed of cursor movement by the proposed device was not much different from the mouse. The overall accuracy was 80%. Especially, the relative coordinate is more convenience and accuracy than the absolute coordinate, and can reduce the frequency of reset to prevent the accumulative error. 본 연구에서는 자동차 사고나 뇌졸중 등에 의해 경추 이하의 마비나 손, 발 등의 움직임은 자유롭지 않은 사람들의 컴퓨터 사용을 돕고자 손이나 발을 이용하지 않고 머리의 움직임과 눈의 깜박임만으로 컴퓨터 마우스 제어가 가능한 장치를 제안하였다. 마우스의 좌우, 상하 이동은 자이로 센서를 이용하여 머리의 움직임으로 유발하고, 클릭과 더블 클릭은 광 센서를 시야를 방해하지 않는 위치에 장착하여 감지할 수 있도록 하였다. 머리의 움직임에 의한 마우스 이동은 절대 좌표계와 상대 좌표계를 이용하는 두 가지 방법으로 실험하였다. 제안한 장치의 클릭과 더블 클릭의 인식율은 평균 86%에 편차는 5%정도다, 반응속도는 기존 마우스의 이동 속도와 비교해 볼 때 큰 차이는 없었다. 마지막으로 종합적인 평가를 위해 마우스 이동과 클릭을 동시에 수행하였을 경우에는 정확도가 80%에 편차는 4%정도로 기존 마우스보다는 낮았다. 특히 상대 좌표계를 이용하는 경우 절대 좌표를 이용하는 경우보다 좌표의 누적 에러로 인한 reset 빈도를 줄일 수 있었고, 정밀한 마우스 포인터 조작에 편리하였다.
